    Description

It is a fishing and hunting camp that runs 6 months of the year. There are a lot of projects that I would love to start given time and money, like anything! We are currently building a new cabin so any carpentry skills are a bonus. I am an avid gardener and would like to start growing shitakes this summer. I have many flower beds and a giant compost that requires some attention.

Our clientele mostly come from the United States but we have some that come from as far away as Brazil. Our guests come here to fish but there is a lot more to do than that. We offer kayaks, swim dock, a sauna, and 80 acres of island to run around on. You can take overnight trips up to Arrow Lake, a remote fly-in fishing lake, to bushwhack if you're feeling adventurous. We have bonfires, lots of guitars lying around, and sometimes the base or the mandolin makes an appearance. We have a garden and at certain times of year, you can hunt blueberries on the island. I like to take runs to nearby islands in the fall to hunt for mushrooms and deer sheds or skulls of any kind. But if you like fishing or want to get into it this is the place to do it. I almost snagged a monster muskie off the dock last year and many of our guests have. We have a weekly fish fry where all the guests provide the fish and I bread them up and fry them out on the point. We have a homemade smoker out there too which gets some action when I am in the mood for mouth-watering ribs. Wildlife viewing is amazing out here too. Not uncommon to see two eagles tussle over discarded fish guts. I've seen wolves, otters, beavers, cormorants, muskrats, weasel, osprey, wood ducks, bears mergansers, blue wing teals, buffleheads, saw-whet owls, deer.... the list goes on. You will have a lot of downtime but you are more than welcome to help on any project we are working on.

We are located on a secluded island on Lake of the Woods, 13 miles north of Morson, Ontario, Canada. There are 8 cabins that are rented out on a weekly basis. With this comes a very relaxed week with not much to do and then a push on the weekends for the changeover. We clean each cabin from top to bottom to a very high standard. Don't panic! It's easy. Stripping beds, remaking them, washing all the pots and pans, and basically wiping everything down. Our day lasts 6 to 8 hours and it's usually only two days a week. Standard stuff. Put some music on, hustle, and enjoy a well-earned cold bevy at the end of the day.

    Accommodation

Your accommodation is a really cute little cabin set at the back of the property. it has running water, a fridge, and a propane stove. There is a queen size bed for you and a propane heater. There are shared showers on the island that everyone uses and are cleaned daily. There is an outhouse for you as well. I don't have a set meal time but I like to cook. If you're hungry help yourself within reason. If there is anything you need bring it with you. There is a weekly trip to town for groceries.

We are in a remote area so we are hard to get too. We will have to come get you at the dock in the boat or in Fort Frances on a town day if you don't have a vehicle. There is a bus that runs from Thunder Bay to Fort Frances Monday to Friday.
