Description
We are a young german family (Elisa, 29, Daniel, 26, Norah Anouk, 4 and Lotta Eloise, 1) that has moved from Germany to Denmark in May 2022. We have always loved hosting people and connecting with others and want our children to grow up being in touch with as many cultures and different people as possible.
We have previously lived in Denmark and know the country to some extent and also speak danish fluently.Types of help and learning opportunities
GardeningDIY and building projectsBabysitting and creative playHelp around the houseCultural exchange and learning opportunities
You have the chance to go out and explore the area and nature around where we live. The house is located close to the beach in the small city of Aabenraa and we can provide you with a bike to get around easily. We can also take you to the next train station if you want to go on bigger trips around Denmark.
Otherwise we have a variety of interests from yoga, over sustainability to bikes and electronics.
We both speak German, English and Danish, so feel free to let us know if you want to practice any of those languages while you're here.
The region we live in has a unique culture, which results from it often having changed between Denmark and Germany (the current border was drawn in 1920). This has shaped its own language/dialect and has led to many German activities, clubs and institutions like schools, libraries and similar.
Most people over 40 also speak or understand German, most younger people are proficient in English.Projects involving children

Help
We are mostly looking for help with renovations and/or gardening. Since we bought an old house, that we are in the process of renovating completely, there are a lot of different options for projects and tasks. We can therfore find something that suits your abilities and interests. A little cleaning could also be part of your tasks and we expect you to clean up after yourself.
You will help 4-5 hours daily, having two days off every week. On what days you want to take them is flexible, just check in with us before, so we know.Languages spoken

Our guest room has a table, that can be used as a work desk. Daniel has previously used it to work from home and when he isn't working his big screen can be used (USB-C or HDMI). We have good WiFi based on a fiber connection. There is a router in the guest room, so the signal is very strong.
Space for parking camper vans
We have space in the driveway, but it is relatively narrow. Normal sized campervans can easily fit, but bigger motorhomes or trailers most likely won't.

I don’t have much to say because everyhting was perfect, I mean I found what I was looking for. Maybe it could’ve been even better if I had the opportunity to visit the surroundigs a bit… read more
I spent 18 days which I enjoyed the work despite having a lot to do. I like helping so much and there was so much to do that almost every day I did 5h because I wanted them to have the most beautiful house! My stay was quiet, moments in which we spent more time together and others in which I spent it alone without any problem… read more
The tasks were feasable and the schedule was flexible so we could adapt it to both… read more
