Description
I AM LOOKING FOR A LONG-TERM SUMMER 2024 VOLUNTEER (1 MONTH MINIMUM, IN AUGUST) WHO IS WILLING TO HELP ME EXPAND THE PRODUCTION SIDE OF THE GARDEN AND HOUSE-SIT/PET-SIT FOR A WEEK IN AUGUST. QUEER-FRIENDLY ONLY. Online interviews start January 2024. Get in touch :)
Some years ago I created a smallholding in the mountains of Asturias, Spain, on ancestral Celtic land, more recently influenced by 20th century post-war poverty and a disappeared mining industry. My project here is to build a sustainable way of living, as a queer land steward during climate emergency. Other hard-working queers & allies who are NOT looking for a holiday and travel slowly will get an interview. Please read the profile.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

The farm is in a region full of historical interest, beautiful villages, wild mountains, great hiking and climbing, incredible flora and fauna, cave paintings, local parties, endless quiet days. I'm also a full-time online English teacher and am happy to exchange my knowledge of English (and Spanish) with other languages. I'm a writer and my focus is on queer ancestral outsiders, rural queers and the practice of belonging.

This is a queer-friendly space. Living sustainably in an isolated place is hard work, and it is very cold in winter. You need to be hardy and independent. If you cannot live in an unheated house, this place is not for you. I am chilled out but I'm not interested in free holidayers. Come with your passion and your strong ideas about the project!
I am interested in building a network of likeminded queer folk and allies by working in place. I don't drive and I rarely travel. Work is seasonal, outside and inside, and focused on sustainable living. Folks who fly in for Instagram photos are not for me.Langues

You'd have your own room. I don't currently run a strictly vegetarian or vegan household. My own space is valuable to me, and I will respect yours - and my office space in the main house is where I work every day. It's basic but beautiful here.
Autres infos...
Teverga is the place to be for climbing, hiking etc. There's good skiing round here when it snows, apparently. There are lots of summer tourists and the local town is a 7k walk from the farm, with shops and restaurants. It's difficult to eat badly round here, but Teverga is not particularly vegetarian-friendly. The capital, Oviedo, is 60 minutes away by bus/car.
