    Description

My name is Els, born in 1960. Today I am as a result of my life experience. Since the age of 50 I have decided to change my life course completely, wanted to dedicate it to a bigger purpose than just myself, which is sharing!
The closest people to me are my husband, Roy and my daughter, Kim, but of course we, humanity is one big family.
Fortunately, I had the chance to start up an organization, VZW (Environment Without Borders), where people can share with love and respect for all!
now I am a steward to a piece of land in an unbelievably beautiful environment. Unconscious behavior of previous owners has left debris that need to be mended. The legal destination of the land is meant for agricultural activity. Because the plot of this land is too small for big farmers it is ideal to develop permaculture. This is not just away of farming it is much more, it is lifestyle, a philosophy and a way to implement the purpose of the organization.
    So, let's share...

1.The travelers can learn plenty about the environment and different alternative ways of living well, with a smaller impact on the planet. When my daughter, Kim is around she can teach how to make Henna tattoos. I also can teach about wild food, how to sterilize and preserve food, how to dry herbs for tea, make syrups and jams, extracting oil from nuts, how to make your own hygienical body and household products, how to test the germination of seeds etc.

    2. When we are in the Ardens there are many places to enjoy nature and beautiful towns such as Durbuy and Laroche as well as take long walks, bicycle trips and canoeing on the Ourthe.

3.Our head office is in Dilbeek. It is a quiet place where we can take nice walks in nature. Yet it is near the capital city (13km away from the center of Brussels). From there. it is easy to visit throughout the country by public transport such as: Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels, Brugge etc.

We try to find programs to fit the interests of any volunteer and if possible/ needed/ wished for; a person that can assist. For non vegetarians it will be a great occasion to learn all about the delicious alternatives to meat products and how to cook them.

Our Main Priority lays at our project in the Ardenesl/Werpin:

    1. on 14th July 2021, a huge flood happened in the area where the land is, in the Belgian Arden's province Luxembourg. it caused devastating damage. The plot was filled with garbage and huge tree logs and thousands of branches. We still need to Process some Logs and heap of branches.

    2. We need to brake up the concrete and bring it to the recycling park, make fences with pillars and pallets.

    3. Because we are in flood risk area we have to make raised planting beds.

    4. We have to create the permaculture garden.

Our Second Priority lays in Dilbeek near Brussels:

    5. Our head office of our organization is at our home in Dilbeek (see our map location). And the floor there needs to be treated. At our age it is too heavy but we have the know how to pass it on. We also have a storage that needs a serious clean up, sorting session as well as goods that need small repairs or clean ups.

6.We expect 25 hours of help every week (Working time can be flexible)

***Unfortunately (Bad Experience), the board of directors of the organization will not provide any applicants that need us to provide an invitation letter!***
Environmentalists understand the hazards caused by meat/fish production. We are vegetarians and cook only vegetarian food. If anyone is vegan we take that in account.
We have worked with volunteers in Belgium. For most workawayers, we bid a big variety of new experiences, new knowledge, things to do and places to go.

Here, we have limited electricity so when the weather is bad for a long time, we might be short of energy but we do have power banks for small appliances like laptop, phone, speaker etc. In case of emergency we do have a fuel power group. To avoid extra pressure on the planet we only use it if there is no other option. And for sure there is an unlimited internet here.

We prefer people with their own campervans and there is a private beautiful space to put the campervan but normal sized one can enter not very big sized! You must be able to move out in case of emergency (sometimes in winter we face small floods like 20cm).
