  Hello I’m lisa and welcome.
  
  Pls note I have workaways spaces for mid june, July, prob not August, and yes for a few weeks in September before I return to Cape Town for summer.
  
  I have a wonderful 1901 house in a rural village of a few thousand people. Located in the centre of the village, we board a river with excellent fishing and swimming, baker butcher supermarket bank etc. Lovely cycling and running routes and I have bikes - including one with a carriage that you can pack a picnic and head off.
  
  Local train to Bordeaux (45 mins) , La Rochelle, Poitiers all less than 1.5 hours. There is a massive garden including vege patch. Fall asleep to the sound of the river, go swimming in the river with my ducks( I get a new set every year) Take the boat out on the river.
  
  Its my holiday home so when I am here there is always plenty of stuff to do. painting, stone repointing work, veg garden maintenance, gutting and installing new bathrooms, attic sort out, creating an artists studio from a new building next door I bought, selling stuff I’ve hoarded,
  
  Im an experienced work away host, and very relaxed in my style. My house is your home. I believe in first day sitting with you to find out where your interests lie, what skills I can give you in those interests, and then producing with you a list of things that you have autonomy to do during your stay.
  
  I run multiple renovation projects in different countries - and this year my personal aim is to learn more about social media and set up more

  Hobby Wise I’m a taxidermist and kinesiologist and would love
  To get back into those. The former needs a space created which given the properties size should be easy but haven’t had time.
  
  While I have nothing against people trying to find themselves, go hippy, vegan, celeriac, meditation, tree hugging etc- know that I’m a raging extrovert, Australian so call a spade a spade, love working and renovating, hate driving, love nights and not mornings, socialize at the drop of a hat, and run about 60 different projects when I’m there, fancy free and footloose.

  I have lots of friends here and throw regular bbqs.
  
  Do the markets and brocantes. Visit the famous Poitou donkeys, day trips to Angouleme to see their graffiti murals and the like. The nearby rouillac Roman amphitheatre. The fairytale chateau at verteuil. Picnics on the Charente. Catch the train to La Rochelle.

  DIY - where to start- lets see- paint shutters , paint rooms, take out the avocado bathroom suites and replace with new ones , create a scullery, design a new outdoor entertaining area , garden, buold a pizza oven, sorting through all the junk in 5 outbuildings and selling it via FB marketplace or doing brocantes, creating a taxidermy studio, creating an artists studio , creating a fire etc
  
  its a 5 year renovation project so you can literally pick what interests you. keen people required who want to learn new skills- and of course skills to bring to bear such as carpentry, plumbing, stonework then even better!

  Alojamiento

  Privâte room. Bathrooms are shared between 2 bedrooms. As for bedrooms- there are twins or doubles and one king in the 7 bedroom house- so if youre travelling alone you will get a room to yourself - and if youre travelling with someone then subject to how many workaways are on site you will have a room to yourself or a twin. Couples obviously get their own room!
  
  Massive 30m square library full Of books and board games and chess sets and same size downstairs sitting room with piano, guitar and drums. Both with working fireplaces.
  
  Very large garden with ping pong table tennis, foozeball table, croquet, cricket as well as heaps of activities in the village. I am on a river so you can swim al fresco if you wish- very private- and I also have a 4 by 2m pool that I really should put up!
  
  We work 9-12.30 and 2-3.30. Breakfast and lunch is make your own from the fridge. you can write down what you want me to buy if anything missing. I love people eating together. 90 per cent of the time we have an evening meal together which we will enjoy in the dining room/ al fresco or tv night.
  
  Everyone is adults staying here- which to me in terms of cooking/ eating/ cleaning- means we all muck in and help out in the kitchen, set tables , them that cooks doesn’t clean, if you eat something you stack your dish in dishwasher etc. I have a cleaner 1/2 times a week who cleans the place and changes bedding etc.

  I have many friends with gites who have provided me with lists of all the local attractions. The local train station (Luxe) is 5 min drive away which runs to Angouleme and Poitiers. From there you can reach Bordeaux or La Rochelle within 45 mins. Lovely lakes. Great fishing at my place. Plenty of bikes. Cognac 25 mins drive or 2 hours hike for river cruises , kayaking , cognac tours. Jarnac offers the same and is closer.
