    Description

    Greetings,

I'm offering my house for Workaway primarily to provide my mother with an opportunity to connect with young individuals and people from diverse cultures. She thoroughly enjoys acquiring new knowledge and later sharing her experiences and anecdotes with her friends. It's a chance for her to learn and grow while creating lasting connections.

Currently based in Europe for work, I've entrusted my residence to my mother and stepson back home. Our charming house is nestled in the Saylla neighborhood of Cusco, a mere 50-minute journey from downtown via the efficient public service buses.

Our abode has room to accommodate one or two enthusiastic Workawayers. We're particularly keen on individuals who share our affection for pets, have a green thumb for nurturing plants, and appreciate the beauty of nature. If these qualities resonate with you, you might be the perfect fit.

Beyond our cozy home, we embark on an exciting project on our captivating mountain land, which we envision as a space destined for plant cultivation. Our goal is to market them at very affordable prices, although this dream still faces various challenges to overcome, such as installing a irrigation system for the terraces, implementing electricity or a solar panel, improving the access stairs, creating a rest area and a small kitchen, as well as other suggestions proposed by our volunteers (see list at the end). However, thanks to their help, this dream is beginning to materialize. The location of this land is especially convenient, just a 20-minute walk from the house. To give you an idea of what awaits you, I have included some captivating photos showcasing the breathtaking views.

Should you decide to embark on this journey with us, your commitment would involve dedicating three days a week to volunteering, with each day encompassing around 5 hours of fulfilling work. This arrangement is thoughtfully designed to harmonize your valuable skills with your personal schedule.

During your stay, you can look forward to a comfortable sleeping space and a well-equipped kitchen stocked with essential supplies, offering you the freedom to prepare your own meals. We understand the significance of staying connected, so rest assured, we provide fast and reliable internet access.

If the allure of contributing to our project while embracing the beauty of nature and animals resonates with you, we eagerly await your response. Feel free to reach out for any queries or to express your interest – we're here to ensure your Workaway experience is rewarding and memorable.

    Best regards,

    Roxana

Travelers can truly make the most of their time in Cusco, a captivating destination that offers a wealth of activities and attractions.
Rest assured, the neighborhood is tranquil, providing a peaceful setting for your stay. However, It's advisable to return home early, given that transportation options are limited after 10 pm. Additionally, the surroundings tend to be dimly lit during the nighttime, which can impact visibility and safety.
Furthermore, we're enthusiastic about assisting you in honing your Spanish language skills. In addition to that, we're a wellspring of recommendations, sharing insights on must-visit locations in Cusco and its surroundings. To add to the experience, my sister is involved in curating holistic treatments, contributing to a holistic and enriching stay.

    Help

Please, the following list was put together by Max and Lara, a couple who have stolen our hearts. The idea is for each volunteer to choose a task from the list and write to us indicating which one they would be interested in collaborating on.

SMALL PROJECTS (3-5 days, no experience required):

    1. Team up with Cesar to finish the wood next to the stairs. This involves reinforcing and, more importantly, protecting the wood from rain and sun damage. Otherwise, it will need to be redone within a year. Sand the wood to remove splinters and apply a protective coat of paint or other suitable finish.

    2. Leveling the top terrace. Ensure that Cesar inspects the walls, as there may be excess ground on the terrace. It may be necessary to raise the walls slightly.

    3. Clearing all unwanted green plants and burning them. Once the upper terrace is leveled, planting flowers can commence.

    4. Removing all garbage from the area.

    5. Cleaning and decorating the house to make it suitable for habitation. Professional assistance may be required to access water and power.

    6. General maintenance, including protecting the wood, walls, and roofs from deterioration. Neglecting maintenance for a year will harm the property.

    7. Constructing a table and chairs.

    8. Decorating the walls.

BIGGER PROJECTS (3 weeks or more, requiring specific experience):

    1. Construction of the outdoor kitchen. This entails creating a detailed plan, design, and cost overview. It's advisable to begin with a cement foundation for the floor, which will support the wooden poles for the roof, as well as provisions for water inlet and outlet. Seeking assistance from Workawayers with expertise in this area is recommended.

    2. Building a wooden veranda in front of the house (subject to your approval).

    3. Designing the future look and feel of the property, including drafting drawings and plans.

    PROJECTS IN CASA

    1. Assist with maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.
    2. Perform general cleaning duties.
    3. Attend to walking, feeding, and grooming the dogs/cats/chickens.
