We live in Rural New Zealand in a remote location, but within a very close community. We help each other out, especially farmers during the lambing season, which coincides with the pine nut harvest and help all our friends and neighbours whatever the task.

    Help

We have approximately 300 pine nut trees and harvest the pine cones in late September/October. We are looking for one, or two, energetic young soles who are potentially good at cricket, to catch the pine cones as we knock them out of the trees. They are then put into a sack and carried back to the yard and put into storage for drying. You may get involved in other duties, such as lifting lambs, mowing the lawn, or sawing down trees.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a very modern house with beautiful sea views from every room. To the side of the house is our outdoor entertaining area with spa pool, pizza oven, bbq, open fire and lots of outdoor tables and seating. A five minute walk at the bottom of the garden takes you down to the sea and we also have a small boat (tinny) in which we go fishing, we also have a couple of mountain bikes.

The guest accommodation is situated on the lower ground floor and has its own bathroom and outdoor seating area and is very private.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our location is fairly remote so would be helpful to have a car (but it is not essential as we can pick you up). The nearest shop, restaurant, or bar is 15 kilometres/30 minutes away, with no public transport. The nearest town/city is Christchurch just over an hour away. There is quite a social eclectic miss of people in the bay and we tend to make our own entertainment. We have very limited mobile coverage in the bay, but do have Wifi
