Thanks to the great help of Workawayers now I have to rewrite our profile. We've increased the arability of our 5 acres. Now the creek running thru our property has a completed natural swimming pond. Our greenhouse is up and almost running. We've made great headway on our root cellar, but still have a good ways to go. Now the ground is frozen and snowed over, but we have other projects and basic stuff like getting firewood from the forest, taking down dead trees, bucking them up and getting them into the truck. Hard work yes, but rewarding to reduce fire risk, practicing forest management.
We'd still like to increase our garden space. Merging the two gardens thru the more fertile creekbed would be nice, but that's a huge undertaking. We'll just keep sheet mulching our way. We also have chickens we greatly benefit from so we work on making them happy. We have many other birds here, so making and hanging bird and bat houses is another priority. We're also converting an outbuilding for accommodating workawyers. Now we have a guest room inside our house for guests thru winter. This property has great potential, but will take much help to realize. We have gardening experience to share, but never had such vast space to farm. Help would lift off the weight and the overwhelm we're now feeling.

Aside from the never ending work of gardening, our fruit trees also need the grass removed thru sheet mulching at least to their drip line to plant companions. We got a load of clay before discovering a deposits of clay near the creek that runs thru the property. We'd like to build a flowform fountain as used in biodynamics, an outdoor oven, a sauna/steam lodge, composting toilets and outdoor shower stalls. In the lower part of the property the trees near the creek need attention, pruning the dead parts away, amending their soil. I'm an instructor of Taijiquan and qigong. I'd be happy to teach taiji, qigong and it's associated meditation techniques as part exchange for work. Having just moved in 7 months ago we're still in the creative process of designing our farm. So your visionary input is welcome too.

This region is a recreational paradise to enjoy in your off-time. Now we're in a winter wonderland with world class skiing/snowboarding just an hour drive away. Nearby we have an outdoor skating rink and a very popular rail trail along the Slocan River for nordic skiing. In Summer the Slocan River is my favorite for swimming, innertubing, canoeing -- that equipment we have. Up stream is Slocan Lake and Valhalla Park with amazing hiking and mountaineering. We're about a kilometre walk from Winlaw with a healthfood store, 2 great restaurants, a bookstore, minimart etc.
