We are a team of English speaking educators. We love playing games and believe that games is a powerful means of teaching.
We hold our camp in the park, by the seashore so that kids don't mind learning new stuff while playing different kinds of games outdoors. Kids are aged 6-16 years, most of them are Russians. The dates are 22nd of July - 3rd of August (Sunday and Saturday are off for you, though you can join us for weekend activities). We arrange a 3 course meal and accommodation for you during the camp.
Our goal is to make children talk, only to overcome the fear of saying something wrong in a foreign language. We don't teach them reading or writing, only the speaking part, which consists of diverse target phrases that we use during our classes. Lessons are held in the morning on weekdays, from 9 AM till 2 PM. We have a tea break at 12 o'clock. There is a running game at 5 PM, where they have to use target phrases given to them before to play and a shop (they get tokens for using target phrases properly and may share them for a souvenir).
That's the end of our program. After this you may either join us for an evening excursion, cycling, etc. One more thing is that every night we have to get together to share feedback with everybody on the day, classes, kids, any problems you might have, etc.
Travelers will learn a lot through communicating with children and teenagers, get into LARP games, get acquainted with Russian culture, we give you a recommendation letter at the end of 2 weeks - ask us anything what you need!
Volunteers can open a door into the world of English language culture for children and teenagers and teach them something they enjoy doing, for example, last year their favourite volunteer taught them to play her favourite board-games and they adored her!
You can teach them dance, music, do yoga or carry out simple experiments. Volunteers need to keep in mind that they have 25 minutes per an activity with each group of children every weekday and all the games are played outdoors in the forest, although we provide a table and chairs if necessary.
Volunteers are also supposed to organise "shop" for little ones where they can exchange the tokens they get for fulfilling the tasks for some tiny gifts. The gifts are provided. It's a brilliant opportunity to educate learners through playing games.
We stay at a hotel. Rooms with a WC and a shower.
Palanga is a beautiful place where volunteers can enjoy sightseeing, swimming in the sea, listening to various concerts (a lot of them are free) and we usually organise guided tours at the weekends when we do not have any teaching activities, some of them are absolutely unique, for example, amber hunting.
We also enjoy visiting Klaipeda. We prefer healthy life-style. It is a good idea to take roller-blades with you as there is a beautiful path for cycling and roller-skating in the park.
