Description
New season has started! The work will be doing cleaning, reception work, helping Bia ( cleaning lady) who is extremly fun, and all kinds of work that need to be done in the Hostel.
We have started a hostel for backpackers and bar/cafe in the middle of Durres city in the summer of 2014. The hostel is located in an old Italian villa from 1930, located on the main square. We have restored everything and are now up and running. But we always need some handy people who can help improve our place! It is the first and only hostel for backpackers in town.

Durres is a city that is not crowded with tourists like Tirana. It is calm, peaceful, and full of local people. It is a wonderful atmosphere to go on an evening stroll through the city center or along the boardwalk. The local fresh market is a wonderful experience. Local, organic, and also imported vegetables, fruit, dairy, spices, teas, beans, meat, etc. Durres is a good base for taking day trips to nearby towns of interest. There are several beaches close by. And small mountains around too. With an easy hike you can get to a high point with amazing views of the sea and city. There are multiple beaches to relax at near by before and after your shifts. There is also a great fruit and vege market aswell as a huge second hand clothing market. Restaurants are very cheap so it is a great place to be for a while !

We need a few volunteers to help us out at our very special hostel. We are in a converted Italian villa in the center of Durres. More and more guests are coming to visit us in our beautiful Albania.
We can use helpers with a variety of skills. Most important is work at the reception desk, helping the cleaner with light housekeeping duties (laundry, sweeping of floors, and washing dishes) and keeping the guests happy. General maintenance is also very important for us.
Do you have any fix-it, handy-man, or construction abilities? We are doing renovations in our garden and help is needed! There are always a few repairs to do as well, if you are willing and able.
Do any of these sound good to you?
We will provide you with accommodation in one of our comfortable dorms, breakfast, wifi and use of the washing machine. Life here is relaxed, happy, and peaceful. You should enjoy every aspect of life. The seaside is a couple of minutes from the hostel.
There is multiple pet cats and a turtle!!

If you come to Durres, you can also enjoy your time on the beach, enjoy great seafood, spend some time in Tirana (only 40 min by bus), the historic town of Berat, or Kruje, or play football on the beaches. It is also a great place to start to go for some day trips to south or north of Albania. Or go to Italy, the ferries leave/arrive here. It is after Tirana the second largest city of Albania, and has a great Mediterranean vibe.

i just love my experience at the hostel. Joana is super nice and she would try to help you with everything she can. there is always some work to do at the hostel so you would never get bored, and she always listen to your suggestions. it was a great way to meet Albanians and people from all over the world. We took care of the hosts of the hostel. We did check-in, check-out, simple cleaning and we helped the hosts to feel comfortable. The town of Durres is located close to Tirana so it is well connected to the rest of Albania which is great for trips. The atmosphere of the hostel was amazing and we had a great time staying there.

I spent 3 weeks volunteering in this Hostel. I enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. Spending time with the guests and getting to explore the Albanian culture and nature was fascinating. The working hours were quite long, but on the other hand the tasks were light and not too demanding.
