*️️*️️Update May 2019 - We are looking for 1-2 strong and motivated helpers to help finish paving the path around the house. The job will be 1-2 weeks long, please message for more information :)*️️*️️

For several years our family has been working on renovating a country house with incredible views, along with its garden and fields. The house is situated in Sling, Tregarth, surrounded by fields and views of the Menai Strait and Snowdonia National Park. Outside we have been fighting back weeds, creating a vegetable garden and flower beds. Inside the house has been completely redecorated and renovated with some extra rooms designed & built by us. The house is currently occupied by one of us, occasionally more, and there is plenty of space for one or two volunteers when we have any new major projects. The work doesn't stop there though; the current projects that we're working on are:

    -Maintaining the land
    -Paving paths and patios
    -Tree-cutting
-Undergoing large construction work that always pops up as soon as we think that everything is ship-shape

We are a family of 6: 4 sons (all of whom live away) and 2 retired parents who now live apart. Oh, and one kind but nervous dog! We are not fussy eaters and love to cook, and enjoy filling our time playing music, folk dancing and chatting. Between us we speak fluent English, Welsh, Spanish and French. We are also a non-smoking house. The house itself has hot water, showers, clothes washing facilities, wifi, and a fully equipped kitchen. There are no shops in our village although there is one local pub. Buses pass from either outside the house, or more regularly from a bus-stop 20 minutes walking from the house, and so it's easy enough to get to Bangor, the nearest 'city' which has plenty of student events.

We have many exciting ideas about what we would like to do with the house and its land, and we'd love for some other people to come and share the project with us! We'd like to stress that this work can quite heavy and dirty, and you should be prepared for rock moving, hole digging, concreting, furniture moving, and anything else that might pop up.
All we ask for is around 5 hours work a day, 5 days a week, and you'll get a free bed and meals, and a chance to get to know the local area. Please be aware that these hours can change according to the job we're doing and the weather - we may need to work some long days if the sun is out or we are mixing concrete. Other days may be wet with not much to do.
Near to where we live you can go on a mile-long zip wire, wander in the mountains for days, climb in abandoned quarries and even check out the beautiful beaches on Anglesey (weather dependent).

Short stays work well for us - usually 1-2 weeks is fine!

Feel free to write to us if you're interested!

    Nicki

Although our mother tongue is English, we are also Welsh speakers who can teach you about the language, the Welsh culture, along with our knowledge of British traditional dancing and music - which you're welcome to join in with! We hope that you learn a lot about gardening, music, building etc. and we hope that you can teach us a thing or two as well!
