We´re a small NGO in PUYO (Amazon region) that rescues dogs, takes care of them in a private little shelter and gives them the chance to be adopted. The shelter is located in a small village 8km out of Puyo.
Apart from the dogs that mostly are very friendly you will enjoy to be in touch with our young volunteers from the local community. You also get the chance to explore the rainforest region and we can help you with a lot of information for your travels.
We need help with the daily care of the dogs at the shelter: Take them for walks and feed them, clean the refuge, take care of the special needs of dogs in recovery, take them to the vet. We prefer volunteers who stay for a min. of four weeks as it is important for the dogs to get to know the people who take care of them (but this is not a general request). We are also looking for people who can help with construction work / proper fences for the dogs.

We provide a furnished room in a comfortable and completely equipped shared house at a very good and safe location in Puyo. There are people of different ages sharing the house, Ecuadorians and foreigners, normally between 4 and 6 people total. We share the kitchen and living room. From the house the project site can be easily reached by bus in approx. 10 minutes, for the people who belong to the shelter the bus rides are free and the bus stop is close by.
There is a fully equipped kitchen provided where the volunteers prepare their own food. When construction work gets done we provide meals.
Puyo is a relaxed jungle town in the Amazon region. You can explore interesting sights in the area that are mostly easy to reach by public bus. We are always willing to help you with the details and contacts!
