    Description

We are a small family run backpackers hostel in the centre of Stornoway, heart of the Outer Hebrides.
I live on the premises of the Hostel along with my partner, Vojta and our two children Toby and Eliska.
We cater for a variety of guests from cyclists to families and groups but regardless of their reason for coming, they add to the great atmosphere in the hostel.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our island is rich in culture and has beautiful landscapes and beaches. Most of the island is accessible by bus and we recommend getting out to explore on your days off.
The hostel has it's own social environment but you can often find live music in the near by pubs.

The main role for our Workawayers is cleaning the hostel to our 4 star standard. This includes changing beds, laundry, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming and so on.
There will also be some maintenance, painting etc.
After a period, Workawayers can progress to reception work where they will be dealing with guests directly.
We ask for 15 hours per week in exchange for accommodation and breakfast. The cleaning shifts are from 11am - 1.30pm every day, so to begin with Workawayers would work 6 shifts of 2.5 hours.
Some Workawayers opt to do double shifts giving them an extra day off and we try to be as flexible as we can.

    Accommodation

In exchange for your work (15 hours per week) we offer free accommodation and breakfast.
Lunch and Dinner are NOT included but you have the use of the shared kitchen to prepare your own meals.
    We have 2 Staff Bedrooms.
One is in the main hostel building and the other is in a shared house along the street.
They are both based on 2 sharing and if you apply as an individual we will allocate a bed in one of these room along side another member of staff of the same sex.
Wi-fi is available in the main areas of the hostel and the shared house. However, there is only a weak signal from the staff room in the hostel.
