    Description

Devpur is a village in Kutch district of Gujarat, India. I live with my two children - 13 and 9, my elderly mother, my uncle and my aunt. We live in a 100+ years old heritage house and run a homestay in the property. We also run an English-medium school in the same compound. There is a mango orchard about 200 meters from the home/homestay and we run a farmstay there.

Kutch is a mesmerising part of India and very rich in terms of cultural heritage and art. A volunteer will get a chance to live an authentic rural experience but with the luxury and comfort of modern living. He/She will get to interact with guests from all over the world and the school kids from the area. The district has to much to offer to a traveller and spending a few months here will let you explore the region at your pace.

    Help

    Volunteers are welcome to
    1. Help in the school - teach skills/ help with English/teach swimming to the students
    2. Help with the homestay and farmsty - depending on the skills and requirements
    3. Help with the orchard in mango season, though it gets very very hot.

We would need 4-5 hours of work each day. Volunteers will be free to explore the region by public transport. They may also borrow the vehicle from the host if it is available at that point.

The season for homestay and farmstay starts from October and ends in February. The season for Mango starts in April. The school year is from July till March.
