    Description

Our farm is a non-slaughter sanctuary, where we grow organic food with respect towards Earth and all its inhabitants. Inspired by the principles of non-violence and permaculture, the farm seeks to exemplify kindness and self-reliance.

Everyone here is part of an intentional community. Coming from different back grounds, cultures and countries we all work together in a permaculture way.

    What we're up to:

    • We care for the 4 horses, 3 cows and two oxen that have their for-ever home on this farm.
    • We turn manure into compost, which helps our gardens thrive and captures carbon.
    • We plant trees and bushes following a master plan that respects the land.
    • We grow veggies, herbs, and berries, aiming for a menu that's as fresh as it can get.

Some of us get inspiration from the Vaishnava tradition from India and practice Bhakti-yoga. We love sharing this through music, stories and philosophy, and sometimes celebrating special events. But no worries if that's not your path; we welcome all genuine spirituality or none at all - all that is required from everyone in this regard is sympathy and openness.

We're looking for volunteers to join us for 6 to 8 weeks. It takes some time to learn the skills necessary on the farm, the routines and other members of the community – both the two-legged and the four-legged ones. Emiilia also runs a Permaculture course that's two-month long.

While you're here, we count on you to keep your things tidy, communicate clearly, stay committed, and be polite. We run a smoke-free, alcohol-free, and meat-free zone. While you're here, you're part of that lifestyle too.

If you're interested in learning about sustainable living and no-dig gardening based on ethical animal husbandry, and if you would like to be part of an international community, we're the place for you.

We're excited to teach you everything we know about:

    • Taking care of cows and horses the right way, with kindness and respect for their lives. We’ll show you how to train them gently without causing harm.

    • How to grow your own food sustainably using permaculture and organic farming techniques. You’ll learn how to bring life back to the soil and grow plants that are good for you and the planet.

    • DIY skills for fixing and building things around the farm using wood, cement, and metal. Get ready to get your hands dirty and create something lasting.

    • Cooking amazing vegan and vegetarian meals that taste great and are good for you. We specialize in delicious Indian and Italian recipes, plus how to bake the perfect sourdough bread.

    • How to keep fruits, berries, and vegetables fresh so you can enjoy them longer. We'll share our secrets for preserving the bounty of the garden.

    • Dive into Kirtan-yoga, explore the wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita, and learn mantra meditation to find peace and clarity in your daily life.

The farm is all about learning to live in a way that respects all living beings and the planet, while picking up some cool skills along the way!

As a volunteer, you'll be hands-on with our daily tasks - looking after animals and keeping the gardens thriving. Plus, you get to partake on projects like building and repairs, depending on the season.

In winter, it is mostly about animal care - feeding and cleaning up after our cows and horses. When spring hits, and throughout the summer and fall, you'll switch gears to gardening - sowing, potting, planting, weeding, harvesting, and getting everything ready for the next season starts as early as February.

Got skills in building or using tools and machines? We've got plans to build an outdoor shower, another compost toilet, greenhouse, sauna, farm shop, rocket stove, and even explore Earthship architecture. Keen to help? Let us know!

Presently, cooking and groceries are taken care of by a common effort on a rotational basis. But if you would like to take charge of the kitchen and cook the common meals, you could have this as your main service.

Our farm is 100% vegetarian/vegan, so we skip on meat, fish, and eggs here. While we don't provide black tea, coffee, chocolate, sweeteners, or soft drinks, you can easily pick these up from the local supermarket along with any other personal items.

Most of our work is physical, so be ready for some hands-on action! You will have your special areas of responsibility and are expected often to show and teach the skills you learned to a new person.

We are looking for person with team leader skills. If you've led teams before, like in Scouts, and you're up for staying at least 4 months, you could be the one who we're looking for. We'll give you special training in the first weeks. It's a great chance to deepen your skills and make a lasting impact with us.

We live in the beautiful countryside of southernmost Sweden (Scania), but still relatively close to the cities of Lund, Malmö and Copenhagen. There is a bus stop nearby with decent communication to these bigger cities during the weekdays.

In the vicinity of the farm there are plenty of opportunities for trekking, cycling and day trips. You may check out the website skaneleden.se . The east and south coasts of Scania are within reach for a day-trip by bus or car, and there are some natural lakes/ponds nearby for swimming, reachable by bike or by a car. This part of Sweden also offers many historical and ancient places for sightseeing, like castles and towns with old architecture.

At any given time we normally have two to three volunteers staying with us, and can host comfortably a few more. Volunteers normally live in shared, gender-separated rooms. For married couples or couples in a long-term stable relationship, we try to offer an accommodation together.

Outside of the service hours there are some optional activities arranged for or by the volunteers, like walks with the horses, extra cow care, playing board games, bon fires and story telling, Kirtana-sessions, movie nights, learning handicrafts, etc...

Two sumptuous meals (breakfast or brunch and lunch or dinner) are taken together. For the third meal and eventual snacks there are usually fruits, leftovers from common meals, bread and granola available for self-catering. All who partake in the common meals are expected to contribute by taking part in a rotating schedule for cooking common meals. For those who opt to prepare their own meals, the farm provides ingredients from our own gardens plus additional fruits, vegetables and dairy products from the local supermarket. Only vegetarian/vegan ingredients are used in the farm and we avoid purchasing processed or unsustainably items as much as possible.
