    Description

    Hello travelers!

We are a family-run hostel/hotel with a restaurant, bar and scuba diving school on majestic Lake Atitlán in the highlands of Guatemala. Accessible only by boat, we are located right on the waterfront in the small indigenous village of Santa Cruz la Laguna, looking out over the three volcanoes that surround the lake. We have a fun relaxed atmosphere and try to build a family feeling for those who are away from home. A great opportunity to meet other travelers, mix with a wonderful local community and enjoy stunning surroundings.

We care a lot about the communal energy this spot has, we are looking for people willing to be the heart and soul of this place. We like volunteers who take active action in organizing activities for both the fellow workers and the hostel guests to gather together: board games, pool competitions, arts and crafts afternoons, open mic nights, marshmallow roasting nights... and much much more!
We really appreciate people willing to become part of a family, happy to be here and spending their time keeping the place lively and sparkling, involved 100% in the vibe of our beautiful hostel.

We are very easy going and fun people but we like to highlight that we are not a massive party hostel, so if you are looking for wild nights we are definitely not the right place for you :)

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As a volunteer, you will be in a very multicultural place, you will be able to have language exchange both with other travelers and local people. In the village of Santa Cruz you will find many cultural activities, cooking classes, weaving classes, and you will be able to visit villages around the Lake and experience real Guatemala.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in the local life, learn about local history and even learn Kaqchikel (the local language) if you want to!

  • Help

    Help

We ask for a 6-week minimum commitment after a one-week trial. Help consists of greeting guests at the reception, dealing with the check-ins and check-outs and, in general, being present to keep the place lively and interact with customers. The atmosphere is very casual but the place does get very busy from time to time. We offer you a bed (either shared dorm or private room, according to availability) and 3 meals per day, vegetarian options are always available; half-priced drinks, free kayak/paddle rental, and 10% off diving. And, last but not least, a beautiful view of the astonishing Lago Atitlan every day!

We need our volunteers to speak ENGLISH and have at least a conversational level of SPANISH!!! We look for people who are confident in answering queries in person and over the phone in both languages, our customers are from all over and the local language is Spanish.

Please write the DATES that you are available to volunteer in the subject line of your message as it makes it easier for us to go through applicants and it also shows us that you have read our profile! :)

We get a lot of messages from volunteers and we do our best to answer all of them.
If we do not get back to you it could be that our team is complete at the moment of your application, we apologize for that.
