    Description

We are happy couple, Andrei and Veronica and Kyta which is our dog. Recently we moved to the countryside, where we built a cabin. Our dream was to plant a hill with lavender and we did it :). Our project is to make a living here, surrounded by nature. The cabin is on hill in a wild area with an exceptional fauna and flora. in some mornings we have a coffee with deers and in other mornings some foxes visit us. We often visit our neighbors from the other hills to learn more about traditional living.

Our farm is located in one of the hills in Holbav village, an untouched place by the rush of capitalism. We are located at 30 minutes from one of the most beautiful and visited towns in Romania called Brasov. So from the capital Bucharest you can get in Brasov in 2 and a half hours by bus. The city is surrounded by mountains offering beautiful landscape
The Black Church is Brasov’s main landmark, one of the most important Lutheran churches built by the German community. Brasov’s cultural landmarks include both Brasov’s Art and History Museum. For entertainment, head to the Weavers’ Bastion Museum, the Puppet Theatre or tear to local drama at the Sica Alexandrescu Theatre.
So you get it, we live in Transilvania, Dracula' s land. His castle is in Bran and is very close to us. There are many beautiful medieval villages to visit near ours. The region in central Romania, where we live, is a land of unique historical and cultural experiences. You'll find Old Saxon architecture, cobblestone streets, pastel coloured houses, clock towers, delicious Saxon cuisine and unusual encounters in the woods.
The introduction to our countryside is a mix of chickens on the roadside, horse and cart and endless views stretching beyond the horizon. We are a mixture of culture from east to west so from Turks to Saxons everyone left their mark, it is a region of culture, customs and flavors, so bon appetite.
We have also a nice cave to visit at 2 kilometers from us. You can do hiking and mountain biking in the forest. Mountains like Piatra Craiului are near us.
The place offer us protected flowers witch are unique in Europe. Our flora is very special, every year we pick up plants in almost each season for the 5 o'clock tea time in the cold winter. Also we pick up medicinal plants from the surroundings.

    Help

We need help to clean the lavender field from the weeds and to finish the fence surrounding the lavender. We want to make a spiral herb garden and a little vegetable garden. Also we want to make a compost place and to build a tool and firewood storage . Indoor we have some changes to do because the cabin was built to be a summer house and now we want to live there forever, so we need to make an old school heating system. Any new ideas are more then welcome. The most important thing to do is lavender maintenance and harvesting. We are planing on making a vegetable garden as soon as possible.

    Accommodation

The cabin have 3 rooms and a living-room so the helpers will sleep in one of the rooms. You will sleep on a bed with sheets but for backup you can bring your own sleeping bag and maybe a headlight, We will cook and eat together and we can exchange recipes. We can also cook on open fire outside. We have an inside and an outside toilet. We have a shower in the cabin but also we like to use from time to time the spring outside.

We offer three meals a day, mainly vegetarian, but we also cook with meat. We often use what we find in the surrounding, mushrooms, fruits and some herbs.

    What else ...

It will be more fun then work and we can't wait to meet new people who aim a countryside life and want to share with us their own experiences. We stopped working as an aerospace engineer and as a veterinarian and become committed farmers. We work 5 hours a day and the weekends are free.
If you want to visit Brasov or some old villages in weekends , you can take a bus from Holbav village, we can take you there and then also we can pick you up from the same place. Because we come into Brasov almost weekly we can take you from your location, easily. The buses are often during the day. We can keep in touch by phone. There is phone signal on the hill.
