    Description

    ¡Hola! Hi there! Hallo!
We hope our post finds you well :-)
Thanks for your interest in volunteering at our jungle hostel!

We offer free accomoadation plus a small salary in exchange for 4-5 hrs per day helping in one of our positions.
Of course the use of our kitchen and all other hostel facilities is included as well as free, strong WiFi!

Our hostel is a family-run hostel, located in the jungle, surrounded by lush nature, very close to a beautiful waterfall but 4 km away from the beach (walking distance around one hour).
    It's NO party hostel ;-)
We are a German family running the hostel.

    FYI:
We will never put you in a position that a local staff member could do - so don't worry: You will not take anyone's work :-)
You would be here to support all of us - work more flexible and maybe help with a task that just comes up during a day.

    Possible projects:
We are always looking for friendly, responsible and open-minded people who would like to support our team at the reception.
A good level of Spanish is required since we have a lot of guests who only speak Spanish...
And also a high level of Englisch is required since we have a lot of guests who only speak English...
Minimum stay: 3 months because training takes a while... We will pay your a 'salary' for that,
just let us know if you are able to commit for 3 monhs and we can talk further :-)

You can also support our staff with laundry and easier cleaning/maintenance tasks, helping during breakfast and closing the kitchen at night and those positions are also doable if you don't speak Spanish but still want to be part of our team :-)

    Looking forward to meeting you!
    PURA VIDA

    Reception support:
We will need your help at our reception if you can join our team for at lkeast 3 months (or more):
Checking in guests, taking payments, showing them our hostel, telling them abouts tours and what to do in the area etc..
You would also be helping with keeping the common areas tidy and with closing the reception at night.
English + Spanish on a higher level required!
Minimum stay: 3 months weeks because training takes a while...
A local breakfast is included and we can pay a small salary.

Important note: Due to some issues we decided recently to accept volunteers younger than 25 only if you are 100% to be ok with living in thejungle (bugs, spiders, snakes, dirt...) ;-)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    About our location:
Uvita is a small village in the district Costa Ballena/Osa - we are located on the way to Uvita's mountains, within walking distance to the beach and to Uvita's waterfalls.
To the beach you'll walk around one hour (10min by car)
but we are located only 5 minutes walking distance from Uvita's beautiful waterfall where you can swim, relax, slide in...

Within 5-20 minutes walk you'll find everything you need such as ATMs, banks, supermarkets, many restaurants, ice cream, souvenir shops and bus stops to all directions (we will provide further information).

Bahía Ballena is famous for it's whale tale shaped beach, pretty good surf and for whales and dolphins watching.

    Some other hints and facts:
We are an eco friendly hostel.
We are child friendly - we have a daughter, too.
We are NO party hostel! And Uvita' is not famous for nightlife ;-)
Quiet time is 10pm to 6/7am and no non-hostel guests are allowed due to security reasons.
We also recommend being more an outdoor person if you want to become our volunteer ;-)

We are located in the jungle - clothes get dirty and stay damp most of the time - please don't bring your best clothing with you...
Please be aware of our building's constructions:
Everything is open, bugs can come in, you may see a scorpion, spiders, snakes... but nothing is really dangerous here.
So please don't be afraid of the jungle!

Please bring a flashlight (power goes off once in a while) and a small umbrella.
Maybe bring a moskito net (we also provide them) and very few warmer clothes which will only be needed rarely...
You get good bug spray easily in Costa Rica but better bring sun blocker from home, that's very expensive here.

And finally one important note: We had some issues with volunteers younger than 25.
You can still contact us if you are younger but please be 100% sure to be ok with living in the jungle and get your hands dirty ;-)

We are looking forward to meeting you!
    ¡Hasta luego!
    Julie, Stephan and Luzie

    Can host digital nomads

Hi there! We are happy to host digital nomads and frequently do - we have plenty of space and very strong and stable WiFi. The only problem could be if you teach or need to talk for work, to make sure not to work between 10pm and 6/7am Costa Rican time because our house is very poorly sound proofed and any noise at night would disturb other guests. But apart from that our volunteer program works great for digital nomads! ¡Hasta luego!
