welcome to the Beautiful Dordogne Valley
I am now looking for helpers for May for gardening painting- Outside work mostly . Can also take some one who would like to spend. Summer for 2-3 months June. July August ...
PLEASE NOTE :
Please only make a commitment if you really intend to come unfortunately. Recently have had 4 times in last 6 months where Workaway did not turn up . You take away the opportunity for some one else because I keep your room for you And I get many requests thank you .
It’s comfortable here and is the most beautiful place to spend some time
I need helpers to keep up garden and clean and tidy the houses general helping hand cleaning out the vegetable garden and looking after Mimi the French bulldog and sydney pyraneean sheep dog

Hello my name is Gabrielle I am Australian and I’ve been living In France for 10years. In Australia I was an executive chef & for many years travelling around the world, and then I did an apprenticeship as a builder and so for the past 20 years I became a builder... For my retirement ..I came to live in french countryside for a peaceful life and the love of renovating old houses and gardening . there are always some projects .
I mostly Live by myself, but have some friends who stay. and my daughter Bec has come from Sydney I have been hosting for many years and absolutely enjoy meeting and appreciate the so many lovely helpers ...Its usually great company for me as well. Read my reviews I am sure that if you read what you like that I have here to offer, then Im sure we will have a great experience, lots of fun, learn new skills, immerse yourself in a french cultural and language experience in a truly beautiful part of France
During the week we enjoy meals together we will work 5 days. Usually A Saturday occasionally and we swap out days
BUT on the weekends You are independent cook your meals and look after yourselves
I can drop you off to visit local castles and towns. We visit markets where you can practice your french on weekends too.
There are beautiful landscapes are here for ever and you can do some great hikes and do photography as well. For those who want to practice french we can speak together my friends are all french and many dont speak english so you will have opportunity to practise. I have practice books as well.

Beautiful country side and villages ...lots of tourist sites to visit castles and gardens and pre historic sites in the Dordogne valley ..Visit famous prehistoric site at Lascaux . Learn French language. restoring furniture and building things from ancient old wood salvaged from old barns.

Helpers must be neat and clean and helpful in all activities including cooking and washing up and keep the house clean and tidy.
Pleasant attitude and sociable .
We do the tasks 5 hours each of the 5 days. some times we only do a few hours and we make it up another day ....so you must be flexible...Dont be the person who is counting the minutes.... Out doors "type" of people and those who are a bit fit and have done some physical tasks are more suitable . Most of the tasks are simple enough. and i can teach you many skills..read the reviews we have had a lot of fun helpers here.
..Bring some work shoes Work Gloves and old clothes as we get dirty ... learn about working and building decorative painting furniture restoration and recycling old timbers .

A Private room or shared room Comfortable all included We have a small Gite nice wooden Chalet style a nice pool as well as river to canoe.
During the week and days you work we share cooking meals and cleaning up. We enjoy lots of good hearty Simple foods & many vegetarian style foods. Breakfast is simple coffee tea. Toasts then lunch and dinner provided.....
............................. you should bring your own snacks and wines as well. We don't provide alcohol .
On weekends when we dont work , you look after yourselves you have your own time we often go to markets if they are on but , you organise and cook your own meals ...the time is yours to discover the region.

Daniel was a great help to me when he came for 3 weeks . He patiently learnt to plaster walls ... some days he wore more than was on walls but very quickly learnt how to do it and helped me finish off my loft which was a dificault job with lots of exposed beams to work around and sculpt

We had a fantastic time working with Gabby. We were only there for a week but could have easily stayed much longer. The accommodation and the food were both excellent, but our highlight was just getting to know Gabby and the other Workawayers. Hopefully we'll keep in touch (Craig wants a photo of his fireplace when it's all finished!)

Kailey and Daniel were a great team with lots and Lots of Energy .... They both helped renovating cleaning plaster of old stone walls and did a great job putting up plaster board in the loft that had 200 year old crooked and bent beams but was no trouble as Daniel had great vision how to do the job ...thanks Daniel it all looks wonderful ....… read more

We have a fabulous time with Gabrielle at this beautiful property in the Dordogne. We wish we would have stayed longer. The work was varied and manageable. The hours are very structured so allows you to make plans around that. There are some beautiful towns nearby that we rode bikes to and thoroughly enjoyed the area. It was only a short stay.... unfortunately . for us .... as they were great workers and good company both Josh and Britta were really good workdays....Nothing was too difficult ...they joined in and cooked great meals and special pancakes thanks Josh.... wish you both well happy travels Highly recommended .....and welcome back anytime ....

We enjoyed the time we spent here with Gabrielle. Varied tasks, fair work hours, and fun ! Gabrielle is a great host, always cooking amazing food, taking care of us. On our days off, she took us on the markets, in beautifull villages, garage sales, etc. Thank you again Gabrielle, wish you the best !

Tiphaine and Damien were great helpers when they came to stay with us for about a month ....no job was too difficult lots of gardening and renovating and trimming trees around the property.... & Tiphaine cooks delicious vegetarian food ....would highly recommend ...happy travels and welcome back anytime ...thank you.

Sydney was a perfect Workaway helper ...she has a lovely bright and smiley attitude ...nothing was too difficult for her ...she worked with us for a few weeks gardening , looking after swimming pools , renovating and cleaning .....she was also fantastic with looking after the 7 puppies and other animals at the property..& cleaning out the barns .… read more

Thanks to Gaby and everyone around, including the 3 dogs, i had a great time in a beautiful region. The work is physical (nothing too hard) but the tasks varied a lot (mostly outside: weeding, planting, cutting bushes, remove stones, painting etc) so there is no time to get bored!
