We are building a Movement, Fitness, Yoga, and Nature retreat center. Most of our building is sustainable, and alot of our materials our recycled, or locally harvested.
We have one geodesic dome almost complete and will build approximately 4 more before the winter season of this year. What we need most is able-bodied help to complete these builds! :) The more building experience, the better.
We are looking for:
1) somebody/folks with building, and carpenter skills
2) somebody with coding / development abilities. We are using arduinos (microcontrollers) in combination with android app development to merge natural/ancient techniques with modern ones to create something that hasn't quite been done before! Android app and arduino developers, or the willingness to dive into it (with some relevant previous experience) would be amazing.
3) somebody/folks who will make the space beautiful, painting the houses, decorating the land, maybe doing permaculture setups, and preparing the land to hold space for various activities. You'll make art, and paths on the property, etc.
We will be installing a kind of "playground for adults" on the property in the upcoming few months.
We have been on workaway since about August and have already done some really nice foundation building, experimented alot, invented alot, and developed or skills - we have used a lot of “primitive technology” from our ancestors to build our own equipment and shelter, and a million other very cool things like:
Natural Hut Building
Palm-leaf work for roofs, paneling, etc.
Geodesic Dome building (Skye invented the recycled road tires as hubs)
100% Natural Dream-catchers, Natural Cordage & Rope-making
Bamboo Building - Houses, Huts, Furniture, and More
Sweat-lodge and natural sauna process
Cobb Oven building
Adobe Earth Brick and Cobb work
Fire-making, starting a fire without a lighter, material use, etc.
Using recycled tires for building & instrument-making
Log benches and Furnitures
Fire-Show and “nunchuck” blacklight show
Lashing Natural Portable Bamboo Tripod and Making Exercise Equipment
Bamboo art-making (wood bending, shaping, etc.)
Sewing and Tipi-making
Harvesting opening, processing, cooking, and preparing COCONUTS
Charcoal Making with Clay Charcoal Machine
Primitive Pottery Making
Weaving (Baskets, Mats, Filers, Etc)
Big Basket-making with Rattan
Making of Kombucha, Home-made coconut yogurt, fermented foods, pizza from scratch
Natural, cruelty-free “leather” from growable SCOBY mushrooms

You are contributing to a very meaningful retreat center that's bringing people into their bodies, and teaches them how to hold their own practice of movement, fitness, yoga and meditation. We are also giving people and experience of what its like to live in simplistic, healthy spaces, aligned to nature and green-building.
You'll get to see your way around this beautiful island with a very informed and connected host. You have an opportunity to learn anything we know, as Skye is always willing to share his knowledge, experience in skills in the work we've done in this project, as well as in the field of martial arts, yoga, and fitness.
"Conscious" people, with an effort in emotional intelligence, and a taste for hard-work make the best fit :).
Happy people happy project. The energy of each individual should b\e aligned to carry the mission forward, in a focused, happy, and motivated way.

About Skye: Skye started martial arts at 5 years old (3rd degree blackbelt), and fitness and meditation ever since the prodigal year of 12 years old. He was a personal trainer since 17 years old, opened studios and martial arts schools, and was also a web developer for many years. Skye started yoga at 16, and got certified to teach much later at 29 years old. Skye has lived in Thailand for 5 years, and is very happy playing with life, people, his body, dogs, and nature. Skye finds his flow best in creative production.
Despite his serious effort, focus, and discipline around creating and producing, Skye is COMPLETELY chill, relaxed, informal, fun, playful, and friendly.
Skye is the force behind the project, and is always out moving, working, sweating, and creating. Some volunteers like to grind out (and also exercise) with Skye all the while, whilst others may need more rest or other activities. But a minimum of 5 hours a day help is required.
We might be able to pick you up at the pier, otherwise, it should be about 150 baht ($3) from the pier to our project (about 20 minutes drive).
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
More than two
Approximately 5 hours a day, 5 days. The other two, there are still optional projects to keep working on, and so far volunteers are too interested to stop playing with them :D. But we like to try to use these rest days for aventures, treks, waterfalls....
