MORE ABOUT US:
Hello, we run a small family company based at a beautiful farmhouse in the Basque (Spanish) Pyrenees - based at the centre of some 200 km of circular walking routes (which I am constantly trying to maintain!). During the summer months we have guests here from all over the world: - house party style - they join us to walk the hills, to learn about the mountain Basque culture and at times to join one of our total immersion Spanish language programmes. So we are VERY used to having people here and, we would all agree (including my 19-year-old English/Basque/Spanish daughter) - that meeting so many people from different walks of life has greatly enhanced our own. (I came out to the Pyrenees 25 years ago with an idea, (dream), an old Ford Escort and a dictionary - and never really went back again!). I am English, (but have lived in France, Italy and Denmark) and now Spain. I am now enthusiastically learning Basque. I have also been an English teacher for many years and so, naturally, I am happy to help Workawayers with their English too.
In the winter, when most guests go, I spend my time trying to maintain the house - as well as being mum (and the constant taxi-ing that involves when you live on top of a mountain!). We have a separate comfortable wing of the house where guests are lodged - with kitchen access etc..
What could this area offer you? It is perfect for walkers (with loads of circular walks from the door) and people who love nature and are interested in getting to know the unusual and very traditional mountain culture of the Basque people.

We have been international hosts of people from all around the world for almost 20 years and enjoy exchanging ideas on languages and culture and meeting people with fresh new perspectives on life. (I am also an English teacher so I can help guests with their English language too) . Naturally we will show our guests the area and introduce them to life and people in these Basque mountains so that they can make the most of the area.
Help
Happy New Year wherever you are. I am looking for help in January and February to do general painting, gardening, land management, house maintenance and carpentry etc. We are highly flexible and welcoming. This job is better for couples or two friends as there may be some days when no one is here and the place is pretty isolated. (4km walk into town). If you are a professional in any of the above fields do let me know and maybe we can talk further.

What else ...
We live in an idyllic and friendly farming hamlet in the Spanish Pyrenees and we are just 1hr from San Sebastian and Pamplona and about 40 minutes from the white sand beaches of the Atlantic. Closer to home are lots of delightful Basque villages with great restaurants and a lively cultural calendar. Photographers and writers and artists would have a field day simply inspired by the views from the kitchen table! This is also a walkers or cyclists paradise.
We can drop our guests down to the village to get regular buses to San Sebastian and Pamplona . Volunteers are welcome to join me when i go out to the shops, to Irun etc. if you don't have your own transport.
During the winter time we do not often have many guests at the house - there is just the two of us but we are very friendly and you would be welcomed as part of the family - however, our farm is 4km from the village and quite isolated so guests with a car or driving licence may feel a little more in connected.A little more information
