    UPDATE:

WE'RE CURRENTLY FULL, ONLY TAKING SOMEONE WHO'S SKILLED IN THE FOLLOWING (SINCE WE URGENTLY NEED THOSE):

    -ELECTRICITY WORK (PLUMBING...)
-BUILDING WORK (RECOVERING OLD WELL, RE-CONSTRUCTING OLD BARN...)
    -CARPENTRY (MAKING WINDOWS, FIXING DOOR)

    THANKS <3

Hi, we are a young family composed by Berta (26), Niu (4.5) and Arç (2.5).

We are living in an off-grid farm 1 h from BCN. I teach workshops there related to herbs and vegan gastronomy and we all are interested in self-sustainable living, organic food, health and happiness.

Our project is to share our farm by enhancing the variety of workshops hosted and becoming an inspirational space for self-sustainable living here in Catalonia,

We need mainly help around the house with cleaning, organizing, cooking duties but we are also looking for a handy person who can help us in restoring parts of the house, fixing fences, helping in the garden and/or with the plumbing and water system.

We're looking for someone who loves kids and learning from/with them (although babysitting won't be the main job, you'll be coliving with them), who sees nature intercation as the best possible activity to do with them.

We also need help in the house (keeping it clean, specially helping with dishes on a daily basis) and cooking nutritious meals with our garden and local produce, since we're loosing the "batch-cooking" dynamic and too often on-the-go.

We try to consume local organic products and to avoid non biodegradable materials. We also apply this mindset to basically everything we can: we try not to use the car too much, to make as many things ourselves/consume the least we can and to not spend much resources in order to live. We live off grid -solar panels and well water only-, so we'll need you to be aware of using few electricity & water. We don't have hot water (so we try to not shower too much and we heat water in pots for that). We are also commited to a local NGO that organizes debates, documentary shows, and workshops, which you could totally participate in despite the language difference -they are generally in catalan but we're happy to translate-.

As we are pretty busy with our duties and activism & social activities we appreciate people with initiative and who are autonomous. Everyone with gardening, building, woodworking, electricity skills is especially welcomed.

We can assure you, though, that this is a great experience to learn about our real needs and appreciation for our facilities.

We can help you learn spanish and/or catalan.

You'll get to participate in our local community of neighbours and similar projects:)

We're managing another volunteering project in our property with youngsters from europe living in our self-built tipis, doing mainly forestry tasks. You'll be able to participate in it, attend the workshops that they'll be receiving and join them in your/their free time.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You'll have your own room, with shared toilet, into the main house.

We barely eat animal products and we like to cook simple yet delicious meals, which are based on organic cereal and different local beans plus some wild or bought veggies. However, if you want to have some snacks, extra treats, dairy, or meat, you're welcome to bring it yourself and use the common fridge, though we would appreciate your understanding of our plastic-free path -we can help you by showing you no-waste grocery places-. We'd love to show you some of our local dishes, a few wild experiments...and also to let you bring your country's essence into our kitchen.

It is also very important to us that you respect and understand our cleaning, cooking and living dynamics: we really care about having clean, organized, well-kept, beautiful and peaceful spaces; and that has a specific form to us, that we will gladly show you in order for you to adjust to it.

We also try to not go shopping more than once a week and our economy is very frugal, so we'd also appreciate you to understand our ways of preparing and managing food. We are completely off-grid, so we try to consume little electricity and water. We cannot provide daily showers nor offer connection for high-impedance devices (such as hair-dryers, electric heaters, etc).

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The spot is stunning and on the days off you can visit Barcelona in less than 1h 30 by public transport, and within 1 hours if you have your own car. If you like nature, hiking and animals you'll enjoy a lot being there. We have dogs and cats, which all live in perfect harmony with eachother. You'll be also able to use a small pool in summer!
There's also a piano -which is a little bit untuned, but works- and a violin.
There is public transport that runs during the week, and that you can reach within 30 min from home.
