    Hi

Come and join our remote Kiwi experience in Pelorus Sounds, New Zealand. We have space now for workawayers who would like to experience the remoteness and beauty of our lodge in return for helping out around the place a few hours a day.

Access to us is by boat only, we have electricity via Solar Power and we filter water from a creek. Our lodge has three apartments and a cottage and a small restaurant/bar and most of our guests are from New Zealand but we also have overseas visitors come stay as well. We want to open our lodge to anyone travelling or living in NZ so that they can experience living 'off grid'.

The help required is general help with the garden and housekeeping, laundry, washing up, etc. We cant be more specific as it is often weather dependent, so when its wet, it is indoor work and when its dry it is in the garden ( if needed). The location is perfect if you enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking and swimming. The peaceful surroundings also make it perfect for meditation, yoga, or just relaxing. We have seen orca and dolphin's in our bay as well as rather beautiful stingray and there is also a lot of native NZ birdlife that you can observe up close. It is just a beautiful and remote part of the world that you have to see to fully appreciate it.

If this sounds like your kind of place, please get in touch.

During your stay you will meet many different locals. Our neighbours have a 300 acre sheep farm that has been in their family for five generations. Our last helpers also went fishing in our dinghy and in our kayaks using our fishing rods and caught lots of different NZ fish (not all of them edible). There is an amazing private hiking track across the farm with spectacular views across the Sounds which you can use at any time. One of our helpers stayed for three months and used the track and the open sea to train for a triathlon. if you are interested we can also teach you how to make coffee like a barista.

The chores are varied throughout the year and are often weather dependent. On sunny days there is plenty of gardening around the private areas of the property. On wet days the indoor task is general help cleaning and tidying up. This type of help is in the private areas of the property, is not paid, and is offered to any one regardless of experience as part of our desire to meet and help travelers from other countries and cultures.

BUT because we are remote access, it is difficult to keep fresh food, so catering for vegan diets is difficult for us but not impossible. lactose Free, gluten free etc are all fine.

    Algo más...

As the location is boat access only and we are surrounded by water, you can spend your time off kayaking, fishing, or swimming. There are also walking tracks and some of the most beautiful views in New Zealand. This beauty, nature and quiet comes at a price, namely the time and cost to reach us. Wherever you are traveling from you will have to plan for an overnight in Havelock in order to catch the Pelorus Mailboat at 10:00am the next morning. The Mailboat trip is $50 each way. It only runs on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday so you need to plan to leave Havelock on those days. There is free, safe parking in Havelock if you have a car ( I can email you about that), and when you get to us we provide everything you need for your stay. You have open access to the laundry facilities ( soap powder provided).

It is a wonderful opportunity to get away from it all and experience the peace that comes with living in the bush and by the sea.
