    Description

Our Rainforest is establishing the ancient ecosystem of original rainforest by re-planting and restoring 15 hectares (150,000 sqm) of former sugar cane land south of the Daintree River area. We also care for native wildlife, such as the Spectacled Flying Fox and the Little Red Flying Fox.

    Help

The volunteering for the accomodation is 3h a day and includes gardening, weeding, tree planting and general maintenance.
If you'd like to help with the native wildlife such as Flying Foxes, which includes preparing food or cleaning the flight cage, we kindly ask you to be vaccinated for Rabies virus. Our bats are healthy, but it is a requirement from Queensland Health.
We require a handy person with commitment, cleanliness and a sense of humour.

Or guest room in the main house with access to all facilities.
The Daintree Rainforest is at your doorstep and the nearest shopping center is appr. 20km away in Mossman. There is a servo in Wonga Beach (7km) to provide you with hot food and a small shop. It is preferable to own a car but not a necessity. We generally go shopping on your day of arrival, so you can get the things you like for yourself. Breakfast and lunch are not included, but you’re welcome to use the kitchen to make your own meals. A warm Dinner will be provided. We’re not vegan or vegetarian, so if you are, you need to let me know what ingredients you need for your evening meal.
We’re happy to learn new meals or specialties of your country of origin.
The property is in the middle of the rainforest, has internet access and is off the grid. (Solar Power)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is heaps to do here in the Far North. Explore the Daintree Rainforest with its abundance of rare plants.
You could go snorkelling or diving on the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas or Cape Tribulation. Mossman Gorge is a beautiful day trip just around the corner.
The tablelands are appr. 50 km away and is very different from the lush rainforest here. You will find a Mango winery, a Chocolate factory and a distillery near Mareeba.and wetlands filled native wildlife and birds.
Transport is limited where I live, so having a car is preferable.
I live in the middle of the rainforest and the beauty of the nature around here is amazing.
