Description
Hi, I'm Chuck - a retired homesteader in beautiful small town Lamoine, Maine. I raise chickens, split firewood and grow my own vegetables on two acres and in working greenhouses. I have two grown children who run their own businesses locally, who drop in daily. I aways need help in the gardens with planting, weeding and harvesting veggies
(greenhouse work is aways fun!!), and splitting and piling firewood. My house is a classic 1870s wooden home so there are always things to repair, refinish or clean (some light housework would be amazing too, although I dont expect anyone to be a maid).
Come and explore Lamoine and Acadia National Park, which is only a 15 minute drive away.
We swim, kayak, hike, bike or paddleboard daily after work in the summer months.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Volunteers can learn organic growing techniques, how to raise vegetable starts, use drip irrigation, trellises and suckering crops, working in greenhouses, and other related farming techniques.
Acadia National Park offers hiking, biking, kayaking, and swimming in a beautiful setting (I have bikes and kayaks you can borrow). Great meals are always provided from the gardens or the ocean.Projects involving children

Chuck kinda 'rescued' me from another workaway place where I didn't felt comfortable at all, even though back then he wasn't a workaway host yet. So he gave me a place to sleep and some chores to do and soon we grew closer.
