  La granja se adquirió en el año 2000. Es una finca en La Vera Extremeña, destinada en ese momento a la producción de cereza y castaña con fruticultura convencional.
  
  En el inicio no vivía aquí, pues tenía un estudio de arquitectura en Madrid donde hacíamos proyectos de arquitectura y urbanismo. Entonces venía todo el tiempo posible y me ayudaba gente del pueblo en los cuidados de la finca. A la vez fui rehabilitando un antiguo secadero de tabaco, construido entre los cerezos, para el uso de vivienda. Ahora si es mi residencia única y habitual y en el pueblo, Garganta la Olla, tengo una pequeña oficina de arquitectura y un muy pequeño apartamento, donde paso parte del invierno. Están en una casa antigua rehabilitada.
  
  Una vez que trasladé el domicilio, hace diez años, la finca se empezó a gestionar de manera ecológica, disponiendo actualmente del certificado de la Junta de Extremadura. Ello ha hecho que algunos frutales, muy viejos, no se hayan adaptado, estando en un proceso de renovación con la plantación de nuevos ejemplares, tanto de cerezo como de castaño.
  
  Además de los cultivos principales, ya hace tiempo se plantaron viñas para hacer vino en la finca. También otros frutales. Todo ello destinado al consumo propio. Ahora incluso tenemos una huerta bien cuidada, pues Andrea es uno de los trabajos que más disfruta. Las tareas principales en la granja son cuidar de los árboles y del huerto, cuando tengo tiempo para sembrarlo.
  
  La finca está aislada, a unos tres kilómetros del pueblo, subiendo a la sierra por un camino rural en un paisaje de cultivos aterrazados y bosques de castaño y roble.
  
  A pesar de vivir aislados, mantenemos mucha relación con la gente del pueblo,sobre todo con toda la nueva que desde hace años se ha ido instalando aquí con proyectos muy interesantes, tanto agrícolas cómo personales. Sin ser una comuna, se va formando una comunidad muy interesante.
  
  La región, el entorno y la finca son preciosos. Es un gusto poder disfrutar de todo ello. La finca tiene una superficie de una hectárea y media. Como la topografía es acusada, son terrazas con muros de piedra, con muchos años de antigüedad. Dentro de ella hay también una pequeña superficie de bosque de roble y castaño.

  The farm was acquired in 2000. It is a farm in La Vera Extremeña, destined at that time to the production of cherries and chestnuts with conventional fruit growing.
  
  At the beginning I did not live here, as I had an architecture studio in Madrid where we did architecture and urban planning projects. So I would come as long as possible and people from the town would help me in taking care of the farm. At the same time, I was rehabilitating an old tobacco drying room, built among the cherry trees, for housing. Now if it is my sole and habitual residence.
  
  Once I moved to the address, ten years ago, the farm began to be managed in an ecological way, currently having the certificate of the Junta de Extremadura. This has meant that some very old fruit trees have not adapted, and we are now in a process of renovation with the planting of new specimens, both cherry and chestnut.
  
  In addition to the main crops, vines have long been planted to make wine on the estate. Also other fruit trees, and all this for own consumption. The main tasks on the farm are taking care of the trees and the orchard, when I,ve time to plant it.
  
  The farm is isolated, about three kilometers from the town, going up to the mountains through a rural road in a landscape of terraced crops and chestnut and oak forests.
  
  Despite that, we maintain a close relationship with the townspeople, especially with all the new ones that have been settling up here for years with very interesting projects, both agricultural and personal. Without being a commune, a very interesting community is forming.

  In general, people who come participate in the tasks that are being developed on the farm, almost all of them agricultural, although they have sometimes helped with small construction tasks.
  
  En general a la gente que viene participa en las tareas que en ese momento se estén desarrollando en la finca, casi todas ellas agrícolas, aunque a veces han ayudado en pequeñas tareas de construcción.

  Unterkunft

  The house is a unique environment, as was the dryer, with two mezzanines. One is the one I use and the other, smaller, has two very comfortable single beds. There is indoor bathroom, kitchen, fireplace, heating, outdoor terraces.
  The electricity is produced by a diesel generator, hoping to soon install solar panels and batteries. The water comes from a nearby stream.
  
  We now have a very big tent in a nice space of the farm, which translates into a greater contact with nature and more privacy. It provides a place for two volunteers, but you can always bring your own tent if you wish or either a camper van.
  
  La casa es un ambiente único, como era el secadero, con dos altillos. Uno es el que yo utilizo y el otro, más pequeño, dispone de dos camas singles muy cómodas. Hay baño interior, cocina, chimenea, calefacción, terrazas exteriores.
  La electricidad se produce mediante un generador de gasoil, esperando instalar pronto placas solares y baterías. El agua viene de un arroyo próximo.
  
  A veces, han venido personas en caravana o que prefieren poner su tienda en algún rincón de la finca, buscando un mayor contacto con la naturaleza y más intimidad. Hay muchos, porque la finca es realmente bonita. También podemos acoger en una tienda grande, donde caben dos personas cómodamente.

  Normally the 5 hours of work are developed in the morning, leaving the afternoon free to go down to the village, do some hiking in the area or be quiet enjoying the farm. There are, for example, many places to bathe in the river nearby. In the village I,ve my arquitect office and there you can use internet.
  
  Normalmente las 5 horas de trabajo las desarrollamos por la mañana, quedando la tarde libre para bajar al pueblo, hacer un poco de senderismo por la zona o estar tranquilo disfrutando la finca. Las pozas naturales de Garganta son preciosas. En el pueblo tengo mi estudio de arquitecto y puedes usar internet.
