    Description

Nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Somerset countryside, we share our 2.5 acre smallholding with a sweet little dog called Frodo; Cuddles, our very handsome cat, and a small flock of mixed rare-breed sheep. As well as keeping animals we grow our favourite veg and salads and run a small scale flower farm producing gorgeous, sustainably grown seasonal flowers for weddings, events and just generally to bring joy to the world and to do our bit to help the bees! We love being able to work the land, look after it, and would really welcome hands-on help with all the day-to-day tasks involved!

    Help

Volunteers need only a willingness to work hard and have fun. Help will include a range of experiences including feeding and caring for livestock on the smallholding, gardening and helping with all jobs on the flower farm which could be: cultivating land, maintaining flower beds, weeding, mulching, planting, plant propagation, harvesting crops, watering, fencing, help with putting up a polytunnel and greenhouse. We also have a large natural pond that we are restoring, and we live near a shallow river and water-course that needs ongoing care and maintenance. Sometimes it could be as simple as taking the dog out for a walk or help with some household chores/cleaning.

If you have photography skills/ or web/design skills we can really make use of those talents here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Our busy season runs from March/April to September/October, and this is primarily the time we are needing volunteer help.

There are so many beautiful places nearby that you can access during your stay when you have free time. Its an opportunity not to be missed! Of course you will also gain some insight into the running of a smallholding and your stay would be very beneficial if you have a particular interest in horticulture and growing flowers.

    What else ...

There are loads of fantastic places to see and things to do close to our smallholding. We are situated 3 miles from Wells, the smallest city in England, which is home to a beautiful cathedral, and picturesque town centre. We are within easy travelling distance to the magical town of Glastonbury, Glastonbury Tor, Abbey and the exquisite Chalice Well Gardens. Not far from us also are the world famous Wookey Hole caves, and the amazing town of Cheddar with spectacular Cheddar Gorge. A little further afield (easy to access by bus from the Wells bus station) are the cities of Bath and Bristol. If you just want to chill out you could have an equally lovely time exploring the local lanes, walks and the beauty of the Somerset Levels which are just on our doorstep..

We are situated just on the outskirts of the Somerset Levels, they are very beautiful, and home to a wide range of bird life. Lovely to explore.
We are a few miles from Glastonbury Tor, well worth a visit in your time off.
