Description
Mompos is an old colonial town by the river Magdalena, the longest river in Colombia. Mompos' old buildings, traditional architecture and the calm pace of life give it a unique charm that has enchanted generations of travelers.
Our hostel is placed on a beautiful square right by the river, in the centre of this historical town. We focus on sharing the local culture by recovering old myths and legends through art and photography.
While here you will be able to visit the town and get to know its' history or go on river tours, where you will see inumerous birds, iguanas, monkeys and caimans. This is also a place for travelers seeking for a calm and relaxing stop. You will find you self spending afternoons talking with local people on the town's many squares.

SPECIAL VOLUNTEER: For the people is interest in social projects , we will be developing 2 projects to work with the community. for more interest dont hesitate in contact us. sKILLS NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT:
A) Interior desing
B) handy working with wood, or good ideas to wood desing.
c) experience developing landing pages or web site ( not proffesional )
d) leading projects, or logistical works.
e) experience doing PODCASTS, OR THE AVALABILITY TO RESEARCH AND HELP US DEVELOPING A PODCAST.
*You do not have to have all the skills if you have 1 or to you stiil can apply for the volunteer.
* YOU STILL CAN APPLY TO BE A GENERAL VOLUNTEER FOR THE HOSTEL.
1) Reception / helping with tourists:
(basicly work in the reception) we need some help with reservations (booking websites ). You will check all the reservations and make sure of the disponibility , welcoming guests, show them to their beds, explain the, the mapping of the town and location of the different places etc.
2) Art projects:
-we are looking for creative people which are able to paint in the wall, graffitis or other beautiful and abstract images.
- We are still working in the decoration and ubucation of the hostel and the coffe shop so any help with that is welcomed
3) Social media and communication
Helping with our social media accounts, taking photos, making posts...
Any video or website making skills would be really welcomed!
4) Gardening:
We need some beautiful hands to take care our plants and provide them some love and water. Some inspiration to improve our small garden would be great!

Accommodation
You will be sleeping in a bunk bed in a dorm room.
We offer to our workwayers breakfast . For dinner we might sometimes have "family meals", otherwise you can use our kitchen every time during the day.

Michi made a lot of photos and I draw and improved some signs for the hostel, the work was easy and about five hours a day. The boys working there all were super friendly and helpful. Jaime is a nice guy who cares about his work and is always looking for new ways to improve his hostel.

The cafeteria has hostel and then I was helping some guests who can't speak Spanish. It was very useful for me to speak English.
