    Description

Hillary is the owner of the farm. She is making her dream of owning a farm before age 40 come true. With several years of farming experience behind her, this is her first solo mission. She is excited for the challenge, and looking forward to volunteer help. Having experience with the Work Away program at previous farms, she knows that the enthusiasm and positive energy that Work Away volunteers possess is unmatched! She can't wait to meet like minded, interested/interesting individuals this time around!

Connecticut is quintessentially New England. There is so much to offer in the Nutmeg state! The farm is located on a beautiful country road, but we are also very close to all amenities. We are situated 10 minutes from town, skiing, rafting on the Farmington river, fishing, and loads of hiking trails near by. If you are looking to experience country life without giving up the convenience of the city, this is the perfect spot for you. There is also much to learn at the farm. From the importance of soil health and a no till system to the practice of organic farming and holistic livestock management.

The farm is a fledgling small scale sustainable farming operation situated on 4 beautiful acres in the NW corner of Connecticut. This Spring will be the mark of our second season, so there is much to do! We will be focusing on the production of micro greens, mushrooms, eggs, pork and beef for restaurant wholesale, as well as a 1/2 acre market garden. This is a perfect opportunity for those wishing to see how to establish a new farm business, as well as learn the day to day operations of both a garden and livestock management on a small scale.
