  Description

  The caretaker position is currently available from about May until about October.

  We are currently looking for a new caretaker primarily for our spring summer season. The position requires skills in the areas of home maintenance, gardening, landscaping , off grid living, basic construction and repair.
  Must have good work ethic, be responsible, honest , adaptive, pleasant disposition and demeanor, works well alone or with others. Motivated and mature.
  Our home/retreat is a drug, alcohol and tobacco free environment.
  
  This position is available to the right person or possibly a couple ?
  
  We are an off grid yoga and adventure oceanfront retreat in Hawaii.
  we are not a farm.
  
  Other seasonal positions:
  we are also in need of a seasonal housekeeper manager. this position could be the same person/people as the caretaker(s) . Responsibilities include oversight of our home when we are away to be sure it is clean and taken care of ; flowers changed/watered , rooms kept clean and possibly some gardening. When we host groups mostly in our winter season the home manager would become a full time chef and kitchen manager. it is ideal that one person or a couple can take on this important position; however we may have an overseer/caretaker year round and a chef /kitchen manager seasonally ? we also take on 1-4 seasonal helpers primarily for help in the kitchen . High season is normally our fall , winter and spring months.

Opportunity to explore the Big Island of Hawaii, seasonal community living. learn to maintain and operate a family run off grid home/retreat. emphasis on sustainable building practices, solar electricity. outdoor , active, close to nature .

  we are a beachfront, off grid home/retreat . we may need a person to manage our home in the spring. Responsibilities include maintaining the daily operation of our home and keep all rooms clean and take care of plants and offer some garden help. trouble shoot possible repairs and work with the caretaker to remedy . When we are on island the manager would help us with continued home care, cleaning and gardening.
  
  we have an opening this spring for a caretaker able to care for gardens and landscaping , construction skills, wood working , plumbing, electric , basic drip irrigation , maintenance , mechanical skills .
  
  When we host guests and groups we need 2 chefs/ kitchen manager. these positions are currently filed through March . we may need additional kitchen staff in April or during our summer months.

  Experience a Remote, off grid (solar power),Beach lifestyle.
  Caretaker and Manager/chef have Private sleeping bungalow. they also have shared kitchen, community environment.
  Short term staff have private or possible shared sleeping rooms plus shared kitchen and community space; wifi .
  All meals are provided while we are hosting groups. Private staff kitchen and food provided when no groups are being hosted.
  Motivated and positive attitude, Physically able, Good listeners. Training period as necessary to apply skills to tropical environment and vision of our home/retreat.
  
  During our high season staff must be able to live in community .
  
  Full-time staff able to schedule long periods of down time and travel. Short term seasonal helpers have daily beach time and adventure opportunities. Must be comfortable in a small Hawaiian beach community environment and like island and tropical climate and weather. Outdoor and adventure orientation during time off. living close to nature. limited social interaction as a vehicle is necessary for island adventures. We provide as much activities and island exploration for staff as time permits. Snorkeling, paddling and beach activities on sight. Not for highly social or town oriented helpers . Simple healthy lifestyle. walk to beach, simple outdoor living. Strong work ethic and commitment. Must be presentable and hold positive energy for other workers and groups/guests/students/visitors. Work exchange, wifi, most personal needs provided. Additional pay and additional benefits available beyond work trade for long term staff commensurate with level of experience, positive attitude ,and level of commitment and good “fit”!
  Very open, and yet private; living spaces and close to nature. Simple comfort. Immediate openings. we are not town oriented. we are rural.

  opportunity to explore , lots of beach time, work vehicle for caretaker , healthy living environment , healthy balance of personal time and staff/community time as well. Old Hawaii atmosphere removed from town , but opportunity to visit the city; not for urban oriented workers.
  Sunday farmers market , and national historic park to hike to along the coast. best snorkeling on the island. staff included in many guest island adventures. able to harvest some local fruit seasonally !! coconuts, mangos, papayas, star fruit, opportunity to help in the gardens. Occasional group projects. Sustainable living experience.
