    Description

The core purpose of this farm is to enable a truly sustainable lifestyle.
In order to protect our environment and natural resources, we grow almost all of our own food and plan to expand in the future (founding a farm community, CSA) to allow more people to participate in this way of life.

We are eight children and four adults who look after our farm in the countryside between Nuremberg and Nördlingen in Bavaria, with four horses and ponies, some dairy sheep and chickens. There is a plethora plants: Vegetables, cereals, fruit, grass, trees...

For development, construction, and maintenance tasks related to agricultural, transport, and processing equipment, a well-equipped workshop is available. The workshop features an extensive array of both hand and power tools, alongside a comprehensive assortment of metal and woodworking machines. Additionally, it boasts a thorough organized store stocked with ample spare parts and various materials.

You are cordially invited to join us, learn from us, learn with us and have fun with us.
Extended stays offer the opportunity for deeper integration and the assumption of tasks with increased autonomy, potentially even initiating personal projects.

We like people who want to get to know our daily life and integrate into it as much as possible. If you are just looking for free accommodation while travelling, our place is not for you.

Being creative is one of the tasks to solve problems. So let's do it. The result can be a rewarding experience and you have a sense of achievement.
Of course, you will also learn new German (sometimes English) vocabulary - especially in relation to the tags at the bottom of this description.

  • Help

    Help

We meet in the morning to draw up the daily program together. Everyone can contribute their ideas and wishes.
All outdoor work is done with muscle power.
In the field we only work with horses without combustion engines.
(If no horse is available for the work because it is too heavy or has no thumbs to grip the tools... ;-), then it's up to human muscle power).
We work with the horses for about an hour a day on average.
There is not only field and horse help, but also maintenance, housek, tinkering, crafting, building, tidying and repairing and so on.
We have physical, manual, creative and social (children's) activities every day, and not every day is the same. We organize the working time so that each task usually takes no longer than one to two hours.
We use green electricity for threshing and processing grain, for wood and metalworking and for computers, lighting....

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Rooms are available for overnight stays, which we only use occasionally during the day. If there are no other visitors, you can sleep there on your own.
We always cook vegetarian food (rarely with additional meat) on a wood-burning stove. Most of our food comes from our farm and is 100% organic. We cannot and do not want to compete with the colorful variety of convenience and non-seasonal products from the supermarket.
In order to take a shower in the bathroom, a fire has to be lit half an hour beforehand so that the water gets hot. You can also get wet in the village swimming pool.
For us, living more sustainably means using all resources carefully. We use all objects (e.g. furniture) for as long as possible and only heat individual rooms moderately in winter.
We are all the more pleased if you travel to us by environmentally friendly means of transport and will be happy to help you find suitable transport connections.
