Description
Hiya,

I am an 38 year old female English native who has been living in Bangkok for over 15 years now. I run my own theatre school based in Bangkok. We provide theatre based workshops around the city, drama classes, magic classes and birthday parties - we also run volunteer programmes at the local schools.

I am looking for someone, two friends or a couple to help out with various roles.

Must speak a good level of English.

You will be housed in an up and coming area of Bangkok, so will get to experience Bangkok as a local and see totally different sides to Bangkok as you would if you were a tourist. You will be living/working with both Thais and foreigners who can help you enjoy the experience & city as much as possible.

You will get the chance to work alongside children from Thailand from all different backgrounds, as well as some international students. You will experience and learn a lot about the Thai culture/lifestyle from working with these projects, as well as brushing up some basic Thai language skills!

I have been here in Bangkok for 17 years and have just opened up a new 3 floor studio - so am looking for help for various projects, particularly artsist who can help paint a mural inside!

I am looking for an individual/two friends/a couple to come and volunteer with us for a minimum of two weeks at a time.

Drama School - I am looking for native English speakers or people with good English to work alongside our team to create amazing experiences for our students. You could be working alongside some of the following; holiday programmes, language skills for the children, set making, art projects, marketing, online resources - and any other small tasks which may apply to the position.. Photographers, Videographers, Content creators welcome.

Accommodation
You will be living in a fourbedroomed house. There is myself, my partner and another housemate, and the possibility of another workaway. You will be sleeping in a space with aircon and a double bed. Each room has it's only bathroom. The house is a large 300+ square metre house with a small outdoor space at the back and a lovely roof garden upstairs. & a full working kitchen.

You will be provided with breakfast (this you will make yourself with the stuff provided in the house), and lunch whilst at work. There will be stuff for you to make your own dinner if you wish, however there is so much cheap and amazing local food around the house, that you may want to go out and experience Bangkok's famous street food.
What else ...
You will be living in the Sukhumvit area, which has a Sky train station Prakanong just a short motorbike ride from the house. You can reach all the local bars, restaurants, as well as the big shopping malls and markets in Bangkok.

We are a young, energetic fun team & household. We are looking for volunteers to fit in with our team. They must be able to work hard, but enjoy their time & experience whilst respecting their position.

We volunteered with Alex and her amazing team for 3.5 weeks, from June 19th until July 12th, during her Summer/Holiday Camps Programme and it was a really fun and enriching experience to us. Each week we helped put on a different production with a different group of kids, ranging in number from 12 to 45, and from 3 to 15 years-old. The two of us… read more had never worked with kids before, so meeting around 100 of them in our time volunteering and being around their chaotic (and often shortly-focused) energy was both a challenge as well as a meaningful source of learning. It was very interesting to watch all the different personalities and how they all evolved throughout the week.

Alex has also built an amazing team in her company filled with caring, thoughtful, helpful, generous, fun and kind individuals. From day one, they basically adopted us, always being open to our questions and including us in their group. We're very thankful for them. Working alongside them was not only a joy, but it taught us a lot. It was great witnessing how they handled, cared for and engaged the kids.

As a host, Alex was generous and very accommodating to us. Work hours were a bit longer than the 5h/day described in the profile (usually it was more like 5h30-6h), but we also received a weekly food stipend, refund for transportation to and from work, and Alex rented us a nice Airbnb since she was unable to host us in her house. Communication during the applying process was a bit hard since she’s very busy, so it took some time between our first message and her accepting us as volunteers. But we’d say it was worth the wait.

Work assigned to us was also a good middle-ground between what was needed and what we felt most comfortable helping with. Camila spent most of her time working on the scenery for the productions, but she also helped create choreography, make reels for IG, and select music and sound effects for some of the performances (as well as be in charge of playing them mid-show). On the other hand, I (Vitoria) spent most of my time assisting the main teacher(s) with the kids and rehearsals, helping edit the scripts and take note of the props, costumes and music/sound effects needed for the show, take pictures and videos whenever possible for the parents and to feed social media, as well as helping in the performances with scenery and costume changes, props handling, and feeding cue and line reminders to the kids.

It was a very enriching experience and we are very grateful for this opportunity. Teaching art is never easy, but it’s also very rewarding, as we could see from this experience. And for the awesome Drama crew: Keep being awesome <3
