    UPDATED Feb 9, 2020.

I'm a single mom of 2 busy kids: My daughter is a 12-year old spitfire of a girl. Tough, sweet, athletic and free-spirited. She is the peacemaker of the family. My son is now 5, a super sweet empathetic, sharp, funny, tough little boy who loves people and does too many cute things. They are busy kids. I'm a Fitness & Yoga Instructor and had my own yoga studio for 5 years. I currently am working 3 part-time jobs and juggling my kids' very busy schedules, which is why I need some help.

We have hosted 6 workawayers so far, and each have brought their own wonderful unique contribution that our family will never forget.

We live in Sea to Sky territory, which means where the ocean meets the mountains. We are great tour guides of the area! I hike, snowshoe, climb and we have passes to the gondola. (You would need your own, but they are very affordable). And have a lot of local information to help you enjoy all the best parts of what our amazing community and location has to offer. You can rent boats/canoes/kayaks/paddleboards in the summer. There is fishing, and scuba diving and other water activities in the summer. Learn all about the local flora and fauna, see salmon spawn, see eagles, otters and other great wildlife, occasionally dolphins and orcas visit our waters. Squamish is a well-known bird-watching area. I am able to take you to popular climbing/hiking areas and point you to a lot of great people you can mountain bike with. If you are a history buff, there is a train museum and a mine museum nearby to explore as our area was a key logging and mining site back in the day. The possibilities are endless.

My daughter is 12 and my son is 5 years old. They are both originally Montessori kids. However, my daughter now attends public school in French Immersion, and my son is in kindergarden at a Francophone school. My daughter is a competitive figure skater and trains 5-6 days per week. She is also very active in other activities is super sweet, and a great athlete. My son is adorable, sweet and loves hanging out with his big sister, riding his bike, thanks one of our previous workaways, is now into bmx! (Thanks Tim! :)) scootering, playing outside, skating, hockey, soccer, and loves playing with cars and superheros. ;) My son is in Kindergarden and will also start to get busier with sports and activities as well, starting parkour and baseball in the spring.

We have a bright room waiting for you in a warm and inviting home. I am looking for someone who can help out with babysitting, playing with the kids and helping do the household chores. If you have a driver's license and wish to help to drive to activities once in a while, it's a bonus!

You obviously must love kids, be friendly, courteous and easy-going. You must be neat and tidy, able to clean up after yourself, and willing to help pick up after the kids. I am hoping that this exchange will allow you to explore a very desirable and amazing part of the world, meet a fun family, go on adventures with us if you want, while doing some babysitting, cooking and cleaning. Helpful if you have a driver's license.

A bonus would be someone who can help my daughter with some school work or teach her about new places and cultures or language, and/or if you were musical and could teach my kids some. We have a keyboard/piano and a ukelele.

We live in the amazing outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada - Squamish, BC - which is located roughly halfway between Vancouver and the Resort Municipality of Whistler. This town is a mecca for enthusiasts of Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Windsurfing, Paragliding, Snowmobiling, any kind of Mountain Exploration, adventure racing, wind sports, Rafting/Kayaking....you get the idea. We are also super close to Whistler and the Callaghan Valley for any Olympic Mountain sport you want. Though I don't get to do it as much as a single mom, I have been very active in Rock Climbing and Snowboarding which is inevitably why I settled here. I currently also go to the gym, love hikes, snowshoeing, biking/exploring nature with the kids, and I participate in Loggers sports as we play host to one of the biggest Loggers sports competitions every summer.

We live in a beautiful 3 bedroom townhouse in an amazing community. Our neighbours are fun and all the kids in the neighbourhood run around playing together. We live on the river where the Salmon spawn and Eagles can be seen from our windows perched in the trees just outside our home hunting for them. We live in a very practical spot with quick access to the highway, walking distance to almost anything, through a network of nature trails including a 10 minute walk to the recreation centre. We live on the river with the dyke access from our yard where you will see other people out walking their dogs or horseback riding.

    What else ...

We spend a lot of time outside. In the winter, playing in the snow, going snowshoeing, skating, etc... In the summer camping, hiking, beach combing, biking the local trails, rock climbing/bouldering. We like to occasionally eat out and our favourites are a couple amazing sushi and Indian restaurants and well as a few other amazing local eateries. We like to socialize with friends, have bonfires down at the river and barbecue in the summer. We're easy going, I like to trust my kids and give them space to learn and explore safely on their own without stifling them too much. We live by the rules of respecting everyone's space, beliefs and being open to new ideas and learning new things. I do expect my kids to work hard to be disciplined and have courtesy and respect for others. We expect the same in return.
