BUILDERS, CARPENTERS, RENDERERS, PLASTERERS,
this is for you!!!
Natural builders wanting to work on a Hempcrete, Light earth and Cob building. I'm up to lime rendering and clay plastering, to start here ASAP.
I am looking for a mature person or couple, with references and skills in Natural Building, Light Earth / Straw Clay, Cob and Stone Masonry, lime and earthen plaster and renders being applied to buildings construction. Also an additional 2 compost toilets are on the list to be built.
The arrangement would be accommodation and food, and is a wonderful opportunity for the right person.
A single person or a couple over 30 y.o would be great as I try to have 3 or 4 helpers here at the same time to share the workload and we eat all meals together at a family table.
The buildings we are working on include a plan for a natural building for workawayers.
This property is an intentional community and although we don't have much to do with all of the members on a daily basis I do hold fun social pizza nights here, cooking in the barrel oven from the outdoor kitchen. You will be invited to help with community working bees once a month and attend social gatherings in order that you get to know the community members and they get to know you too.
Each share here is 1/2 hectare and the houses are spread out for privacy. The property has creeks, water-holes, and a fantastic waterfall 10 min walk from my house.
I am qualified Cert 3 in Permaculture and live in a timber yurt with surrounding fruit orchard and veggie gardens.
Some meals include produce grown organically in the gardens some helpers will be working in.
Depending on the time of year the work involves most garden work, constructing out buildings, working on a large mosaic, (nearly complete), advice and construction of an earth build and Hempcrete Art studio and final render for recently completed barrel oven and light earth wall. It is best if you can do some work independantly sometimes in the above areas ect.
We are lucky here on the farm to have an existing Koala colony living amongst our forest and I have a project clearing weeds and planting food trees to extend the grazing range for these Koala. This would be a project for a couple of helpers for about a week or two.
The work will be 25 hrs per week, usually 5 hr days for 5 days and 2 days off to relax and take in this amazing area. A minimum of 2 weeks stay as a trial time for both parties, preference for long term helpers with conditions from the community.
NON tobacco smokers please, NO drugs, alcohol at the end of the day in a social setting is fine. I am situated 1/2 way
between Nimbin 10 mins and The Channon (famous markets), Byron 1hr. Can pick up in Nimbin.

With my limited internet connection it is best if you have your own internet in the way of a doggle for a laptop or smart phone, and telstra gives the best coverage in these rural areas.

Right now there is a 2 x double bed campervan set up under cover with a solar system for lights and to charge phones and laptops, and a small fridge all set up close to the main house yurt and right next to the natural pool.
The buildings you will be working on include more helpers accommodation.
