    Description

We are an English couple living near Grasse, the perfume town on the Cote d'Azur, just 20 minutes drive from Cannes.

We have both travelled extensively and worked on yachts for 10yrs. We settled here for Mick's work.

I have a background of Hypnobirthing, yoga and massage therapist but am now studying Psycholgy full time from home.

Nearly 6 yrs ago we bought a traditional French farm house. It was a holiday home for 40yrs, then rented, then squatted and then empty for 4 yrs prior to us falling in love with it. It hadn't been loved for a long time.

We have done some petite renovations, we have done all the work ourselves but progress is slow and we'd love some help. Mick is a qualified wooden boat builder so is great with wood but also has a general knowledge of plumbing and electrics. I'm the resident tiler, plasterer and gardener!

The 2,500 m2 (half acre) garden was so overgrown there were areas we couldn't access but with a lot of hard work, sweat and blood (!) it now really has a rustic charm with some yummy fruit and olive trees. There is still loads of work to do in the garden plus constant weeding and maintenance. The tiny vegetable plot grows a little bigger each year as I become more confident.

We are learning as we go and would love to learn from you. We are looking for help from people who have an understanding of renovating houses, building, plumbing, gardening, trees or vegetable growing.

    Upcoming jobs and projects:
Cut back dead wood and replant hedgerow
Re-design the veg patch and watering system ( we've grown out of it!)
Organise garden shed and green house
Range of small decorating / maintenance finishing jobs
    General gardening and housework
    Build a car port
    Instal garden gates
    Renovate a 1972 campervan

We do Not speak french but are happy to learn if you do.

WE ARE ONLY TAKING WORKAWAYERS THAT TRAVEL WITH THIER OWN VEHICLE . IF YOU EMAIL US PLEASE CONFIRM IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH A VEHICLE.

WE DO NOT ORGANISE WORKAWAYER VISITS MORE THAN ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING A TRIP IN THE FUTURE PLEASE CONTACT US NEARER THE TIME.

WE DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN, WE ARE NOT A FARM OR HOSTEL AND DO NOT HAVE ANIMALS. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WORK WITH CHILDREN, TOURISTS OR ANIMALS OR WANT TO LEARN ABOUT FRENCH CULTURE, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Previously we have taught and inspired our workawayers to have a go at new things and learn new skills such as plastering, rendering, patio building, laying underfloor heating, vegetable growing, cooking and all sorts of other home and garden renovation projects. Kirsti especially likes to encourage our female workawayers to have a go at jobs often thought of as mans jobs.

Culturally, we can't share that much about France! But we can share a lot about English people and England as well as the many amazing countries we've travelled in. We also have a good knowledge of our local area - the tourist attractions and the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us.

Projects in the house are mostly small and include decorating. But if you are skilled at plumbing, electrics or building we can definitely find you some petite renovations.
In the garden there is a constant supply of maintenance work and petit renovations, from laying paving, rendering, plumbing and laying water systems, digging, tending and building the vegetable plot, trimming trees and bushes, chopping wood, planting, more digging and endless weeding.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation is in the house. We have 1 - 2 guest rooms that have double beds and patio doors. The guest bathroom is next to guest bedrooms.

If you prefer to camp or park your campervan in the garden that's also possible.

We have an oversized paddling pool big enough for two lilos to cool down in the summer and a wood burner to be cosy in the winter.

    Wifi and English tv.

Although we enjoy socializing and eating with workaways, we don't really have time to entertain, do tourist things with you, or transport you. Therefore, you need to have a vehicle. The public transport is not good and there is not that much of any interest within walking distance.

We have lots of English books but if English isn't your first language you might want to bring books or projects to do in your free time in the afternoons when you are free to relax.
    No smoking in the house.

Looking up the garden.
This little path led to an area that was totally overgrown. We had no idea how big it was. The vegetables now grow here.
