Description
Priority is given to Workers who can stay 2 months minimum.
My name is Spencer, I am the manager at the lodge. This business is a remote guest lodge renting yurts, cabins, and suites (12 total). We are located in Port Renfrew, a beautiful, remote town on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. We have housekeeping, general helper, maintenance, and cook positions available, however, we crossover and assist other departments when needed.Types of help and learning opportunities
DIY and building projectsCreating/ Cooking family mealsHelp around the houseGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
We like to draw on skills from our helpers and share the skills we have ( building, cooking, etc). We are aiming for self-sufficiency. The mornings are spent with breakfast & cleaning the lodge from guests and afternoons with projects or free time.

Help
A couple of years ago we had a great transition at the lodge to using just helpers/workawayers. It was a wonderful experience for everybody. Hosting people from around the world, drawing on their talents, and teaching ours. Typically after breakfast, everyone helps clean rooms finishing by 3 pm, at which time we begin accepting our guests. We either get on with projects or go explore the area after the cleaning is done.
We are looking for singles or couples who can give us general help around the lodge. We usually have between 2-6 helpers. The bulk of the work once open is to clean the units so that they are ready for our guests. During busy times we also need help during breakfast/dinner. This may include cooking/serving depending on your skills.
There is also landscaping help needed and other general duties. We also usually have some kind of interesting project on the go. We typically seek a minimum of one month stay, as training takes about a week, so less than this is really not worthwhile for us.
As per Workaway rules for businesses, we pay for all hours worked. You will be responsible for your own groceries and have to prepare your own meals, with the possibility of taking turns and cooking a staff dinner for everyone to enjoy together once the season gets rolling. We have RVs for you to stay in. Couples have their own space and singles may or may not need to share with other workers. The rooms are on a first come first serve basis.
The ideal candidates are hardworking, responsible, clean, are self-entertaining, and work well with others.Languages

.What else ...
With 160 private acres bordering provincial parklands, our view shows very few signs of civilization, making it a great site to see wildlife and get away from it all, while only a 5-minute drive to “downtown” Port Renfrew. We are just a two-hour scenic drive from either Victoria along Hwy 14, or Nanaimo, along the Pacific Rim Circle Route. Enjoy the scenery or take a hike along the way.
Being in a fairly remote location, it is important for those interested to be a bit self-entertaining. If you are used to living in the city it can be a big change. For those who like the outdoors and are not big on crowds, it is great but if not you may find yourself getting bored. . Happy Travels!

Raphaelle, Spencer and Sara were the best hosts, We always ate yummy food and had a lot of fun!! The place is super beautiful and clean, and the job is fair and very diversified. I couldn't have had a better first Workaway experience! Thanks to y'all!
Her housekeeping skills are fabulous and I could trust her from day one that a room would be perfect, clean, tidy and Covid free! She had no problem to follow our New Covid Protocol, and was flexible when things evolved. Cleaning a room, a yurt, the dining room, common area, organizing for the next… read more
