    Description

We are located in the French Alps in the village of Saint Veran, right next to the Italian border.

Saint Veran is part of the Queyras Regional Park, it's a tiny little village (280 inhabitants) with beautiful traditional wooden houses, nested in a little valley and surrounded with mountains. It's also the highest town in Europe, 2040 meters above the sea level !

We are running our little Inn ( 12 rooms) as a family business, since more than 20 years, and we also rent donkeys.

Olivier (62 y/o) works with a herd of about 20 donkeys, that we rent to hikers with pack saddles, so they can trek in the mountains for several days, with the donkeys carrying their tents and bags.

Nathan, Olivier's son (30y/o) takes care our guests and B&B since 2020, we also hire salaried employees to help us taking care of customers and cleaning up the rooms.

Monique, Olivier's spouse and Nathan's mother (70 y/o) is now retired, but she often likes to give a hand

Olivier is passionate about donkeys, it's been his dream since he was a very small kid to have these animals. He is now working with donkeys since more than 20 years, he loves to speak about his passion, and could teach lots of things if he feels that you are interested and really want to learn.

Nathan loves cooking, he tries to do the best with local ingredients to give customers comforting and invigorating meals, with traditional French familial cuisine. He is also a local accordion player !

If you'd like to go horse riding during your spare time, we just happen to have a beautiful haflinger mare, Sabba, and she would probably also love to go take a walk with you...

We speak English, Spanish, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese, and both Olivier and Nathan love to speak other languages, improving themselves and helping others to improve.

    >>>> Your help will be needed for two monthes, especially from july to august. <<<<

First of all, in the morning and for around 4 hours, we need a versatile help around the B&B : Cleaning up the rooms, make the beds, laundry work, maybe also a bit of cooking, service, reception... This hours of work are paid, accordingly to French hostelry standards.

Olivier could also sometimes need your help with the donkeys : to prepare the trips, take care of the donkeys, give briefing and advices to the trekkers so they can safely roam the mountain trails (depending on your mastering of the French language), do general maintenance, build the paddocks. This help will really depend of Olivier's day-to-day needs, and also of your general acquaintance with the donkeys and with this kind of work.

You could also work in the morning with the B&B, and in the afternoon, either go on a walk with the donkeys, go for a "scouting mission" to check some paths or some specific points in the mountains for Olivier, pick some wild plants that we use in the kitchen, experience various cool activities of Queyras Natural Park, or simply relax in the garden.
