    Description

I have a back issue and need help at present.
We are a family of 6 barry and myself then two under 17yrs and two 25 & 27yrs. We share our home with our dog , and two cats also at present. The eldest two kids come home some weekends one in cork one is nearby town running a kayaking business on lake Derg.! Myself and Barry moved to ireland from england 22yrs ago to raise our family and have our own small- holding.

We provide a safe friendly environment especially for first time workaways or young students who want to go off and explore Ireland but would like support and a good contact whilst in the country.
Barry skills are basketry and general maintainence work/qualified gardener and home-brew and teaching English whilst Sarah works part-time and also runs a Holistic Spa and a homemaker!
Our home is warm, friendly and welcoming.

Its a busy and active home and we love having helpers from all over the world, we also have students and professionals stay to improve their English learn willow work or have a retreat and enjoy our holistic spa amenities. These are all different things we offer at our place as well as workaway.

We are developing a vegetable garden as well as growing and using all of our own willow for use as baskets, willow structures and fencing. We have expanded our growing and workshop space so now we hold willow workshop courses every month and educational tours with more diversity in the future. We supply irish willow to the whole of ireland.

We can offer help with learning English as we are very experienced in hosting language students so if interested in this this please contact us direct as it's a different stay .

We play a lot of music here our sons and Barry play guitars and sing and host music evenings around the fire.
We are building a small Eco lodge cabin which we need help with , compost toilet etc and we need to harvest our willow every January!

When we take time out we socialise with other families & friends .Explore cities or camper van the mountains and beaches .Our eldest son runs a kayak business on lough Derg so we help out too.

Locally you can hillwalk, cycle, canoe row, kayak and other water activities, tennis, table tennis too. You would be welcome to join in with our recreational activities .You would be part of our family whilst you stay so welcome to muck in and joins in activities. We lend out our bikes, hats, locks etc so you can explore alone too with maps and we help you discover the gems of Ireland and have hostel connections if you wish to explore Galway,Limerick Dublin,West Clare in fact anywhere we can help you with for a few days.

    What else ...

The Midlands is an ideal place to explore this beautiful Ireland. We can get virtually anywhere on the island within three hours. We would envisage that your stay with us might be broken with a night or two exploring other regions and maybe then returning to recharge before embarking in another direction after! Whatever takes your fancy!!!We live within cycle distance to Birr (Birr Castle) Banagher and Portumna(Lough Derg).

Slieve bloom mountains and towns like Athlone & Tullamore are nearby too.We are an hour from Limerick and Galway city.We ask our helpers to get a bus to roscrea or birr where we will collect you on your day of arrival.Buses are j.j Kavangers & Son or Bus Eireann, their timetables are on their websites. Happy travels :]
