Description
Our højskole is located in the middle of the most beautiful forest and wild nature, only 17 km away from Scandinavia's oldest (and possibly most beautiful) town: Ribe.
We are looking for volunteers to help with practical support of the following areas:
1. Market garden
2. Help with therapy garden and other practical jobs
Meals are vegetarian/vegan.
Types of help and learning opportunities
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Help around the house
General Maintenance
UN sustainability goals this host is trying to achieve
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
If you will learn about Danish culture as we live together as a small family.
You can sometimes join in on the program of yoga, meditation and other activities and courses.
It is also possible to get personal coaching, by psychologist Henrik Møller, in the therapy garden.
Help
We have 2 open slots for volunteers.
We need one person helping in our market garden.
The market garden delivers vegetables to the canteen.
We follow four regenerative principles and use no chemicals or inorganic fertilizers:
- Minimal soil disturbance
- Maximizing photosynthesis
- constant soil cover
- creating biodiversity
Tobias, the manager of the market garden, studies at "soil food web" and will therefore be working with creating a compost, that contains the optimal conditions for plant growth, by adding beneficial microorganism to the soil.
We are searching for a person who is interested in growing vegetables. You don't need any knowledge beforehand, but the will to learn. The job contains 25 hours of garden work per week.
The market garden is a high output system and therefore the job requires concentration and learning how to be efficient. The tasks include, bed prepping, seed germination, planting, and harvesting.
It takes time to learn the routines, so it would preferred if you can stay at least 3 months.
Before you come we would like to speak to you first. It is important for us, that we work as a team. therefore we would also like to have a 2 week trial periode, so we can get to know each other and find out if it works.

Accommodation
Food and accommodation is included. Your room will be in the volunteer area, with a common lounge area, kitchen where we cook together and shared toilets/bath.
We have a painting room, piano, guitar, tabletennis and wonderful nature with a lake to swim in:)
What else ...
As it takes time to get used to the working with the tasks of the centre, we prefer that volunteers stay at least three month, as it has advantages for both sides. For us it takes a lot of effort to explain how everything works and things flow seamlessly, when we know each other better. For the volunteers the advantages are that you become more free and are able to take more responsibility.

It was an amazing heart-opening experience! I was there for 6 weeks and I received so much more than just food and accommodation. Federico stayed with us for 3 months this Summer. We experienced him as a warm hearted person. He is flexible in the work that needed to be done .. from IT, cleaning, gardening to cooking and more.
