  Beschreibung

  We are a French couple originally living in Paris. A couple of years ago, we bought a castle from the 19th century near Angers in the Chaume region. This place has a long and beautiful history that moved us, we then decided to live here.
  We are currently renovating the building and its gardens to restore its past glory. We are passionate about this project and want to put back the shine on the Château de la Tourlandry and its culture. It’s not an easy task, that is why we are surrounded by our community and wonderful local volunteers who support us every day. Unfortunately, the help provided is not enough to achieve our goal, that why we need you international and dynamic volunteers.

  This place has a rich historic and cultural story to share with all its visitors. Volunteers will learn the local and regional history of the Castle from Napoleon III to the second industrial revolution of France. We will be more than happy to tell volunteers about the extraordinary past of our home where Louis Napoleon Bonaparte came 3 times to visit his mistress Madame Foucheux.

  Arbeit

  We need help restoring the Castle of Tourlandry, French heritage. Work is mostly needed outside in the gardens. For example, the old rocks need to be cleaned, rubbed, jointed, or replaced. We need help to seed and weed trees and other plants in our 7.5 acres of garden. The stables (of the 16th century) require cleaning. The bridges and fences must be painted. Finally, our goats, chickens and pets would like your care and love. All these tasks will contribute to the renovation of the Castle’s noble shape. You don’t need specific skills to help, a simple willingness to work and a practical sense is enough. If you a history lover, you’ll be served by this old building and its stave.

  We have a bedroom with bathroom for only you if you are two. This bedroom is in the castel so it was amazing.

  Our Castle is not the only one in the region. Les Pays de la Loire is well known for its plurality of Medival and renaissance sites. This region was historically owned by the Brother of the King. There is also a famous bike road and the Puy du Fou park.
  To reach our castle, there is no direct train. We will pick you up and drop you off to Chemille trains station (12mins drive) when you want/need.
