Area: VictoriaAhhh open space, fresh air, animals, mountain views - that is us! We love au pairs and other travellers, and we are a family of four living in the countryside on a farm ... far far away from a city! On our farm we have sheep, cattle and crops ... and always lots to do. Volunteers have become a special part of our family - the exchanges work so well. We appreciate help keeping the house clean and organised, and love having a happy, responsible and friendly person share our life, help on our farm, and care for our boys. We love sharing cultures and exchanging experiences, languages, life and laughter:) Common sense, initiative and energy are really important! A little about our boys. A (7) is sensitive, loves building lego, he likes care and attention, and for things to be organised and tidy. F (4) is a real character - an outside boy, usually covered in dirt and creating trouble :) Spending time outside with Rob offers an opportunity for our visitors to experience a real Aussie farm. Here you can really get your hands dirty and make a big difference to the smooth running of our farm! Our visitors are expected to speak a little English, and to actively contribute to daily life in return for meals, accommodation and an interesting 'taste' of Australia. We expect a happy smile, a willing hand, and a sense of humour and adventure. Volunteers are expected to be safe, kind and honest, with NO SMOKING. References, working holiday visa and insurance are required. Good luck with your search for a family, a farm and for a new adventure! With best wishes, Georgie (and Rob and the boys)

Area: Languedoc Roussillon, Pyrenees OrientalesWe are Ashley (37), Simon (46) and Sophia (3). We have lived in this southern-most region of France, overlooking the Spanish border since 2007. Ashley is a trained classical singer, Simon a lapsed anthropologist, who owned and ran an IT company. Simon worked in WWOOF farmsteads in the mid 90s (WWOOF - World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). We also run guided mountain walking holidays for small groups in May and October. And we love having down to earth, friendly, intelligent and multilingual guests! We live in the mountains around Canigou 1hr from the Mediterranean on the French-Spanish border, in a truly beautiful setting. We have a large old farmhouse with several outbuildings, a swimming pool and 11 acres of land and a river. No neighbours to see or hear of! We have been creating an eco-friendly holiday business since 2006. We now have three gites, with another 2 person gite being created this year. So we can accommodate 10 guests in three buildings, soon to be 12 in four. Our own house (the old farmhouse) can accommodate a further 5 people. We have solar hot water for three of the gites and the main house. We use water from the stream, gravity-fed, and are installing a new storage tank with ozone purification and filters. We grow our own vegetables, and plan to install our own hydro-electric generator with water from one of the old aquaducts that once fed the land when it was an apple farm. We also have plans to add a very small eco camp site with two bell tents on platforms in a forest near our stream. If time permits before this Summer season (on top of all the other jobs) we would like to build a chicken coop (to keep them safe from ferrets, foxes, eagles and maybe even the griffon vultures that fly in these parts). Otherwise we've only a few cats and koi carp at the moment, as sadly our lovely friend Zouky the donkey recently died.
Area: AlentejoNatural Horsemanship, Natural Horseboarding, Paddock Paradise, Horse tourism, Ecotourism, Equine Assisted Coaching, Permaculture, Mini Camping My name is Saskia, I’m Dutch and live in Portugal since Februari 2013. I work as a social worker with troubled Dutch and German youth, here in the Alentejo, but would like to start my own business in a combination off all the topics mentioned above. At the moment I have 2 dogs and 5 horses, of which 3 are rescues, supposed to go to slaughter. Next to them I have 3 livery horses in my herd. I’m renting about 10 ha. of land, divided over 3 plots and with a possibility to rent more. I work with my horses with the principles of Natural Horsemanship and don’t use bits nor horseshoes. I am pretty much a student myself and still learning, but I very much like to spread the word about alternative horse methods and learn together with others. I very much could do with some help to get my new business going. People with an interest in the above mentioned are very welcome. Together we can achieve so much more. For helpers I have a caravan or 4 person canvas tent available. My house is in the village, about a 10 minute walk from the horses/caravan/tent and gives the opportunity to use the bathroom, washing machine, kitchen, fridge, electricity and wifi internet. In the village you will find some cafes and little grocery shops. The nearest (8 km) bigger town is Almodovar, where you will find supermarkets and bars/dancings.
