Area: Veliko Tarnovo/Gorna OryahovitsaWe are a lively and sociable couple who have lived in Bulgaria for over 5 years after emigrating from the UK. We have a 5 acre plot of land that needs work and can offer accommodation to volunteers in a 2 bed roomed self contained bungalow. Or in our own home. Currently we have 2 horses, 5 dogs and 3 cats, plus we do breed pigs and raise them for the table. We need help with some small building and maintenance projects, gardening (organically), tree pruning and animal care etc. During some summer months we could do with some help to harvest produce from the garden and also for haymaking etc. There's also some decorating in the house and outside tidy up or prettifying jobs to do. We are not artistic but would love it if you wanted to do some artwork here. We can offer archery lessons (traditional English long bows), have a small plunge pool for use in the summer months and hope to have a sauna installed for the cooler months. Please note archery will only be available if we have the time. We enjoy a fairly healthy diet, a good laugh and the occasional beer with wonderful home cooked and produced food. Would you like to learn more about cooking or rural living while helping us a few hours a day in return for board and lodging? I love to cook and try new recipes, we also make jams and preserve foods and brew rakia (Bulgarian Brandy). Please note that we are smokers and eat meat. We try to recycle and re-use what we can and produce as little waste as possible. We are trying hard to use less power, water and packaged products. We would prefer volunteers who are able to work on their own initiative and do not need constant supervision. Experienced equestrian volunteers are welcome too as our 2 Bulgarian ponies are still being re-educated for riding using more natural methods. Currently we are looking for motivated, enthusiastic people to come and help with animal care, fencing, building a road and some land clearance. We have lots of plans this year and also hope to build a new pig house and pen, shelter for the horses and who knows what else! Your input, ideas and experiences are welcomed as we try to become more self sufficient and ecologically friendly. Please note we do NOT supply alcohol/tobacco products or luxury items but you may bring/supply your own. We now have broadband and a wifi connection Also available is a 1 acre landshare for those who'd truly like to experience Bulgarian rural life for at least 6 months to a year.

Area: New York StateGreetings from our organic farming community, located forty five minutes north of Albany in the fertile Battenkill Valley. Our family warmly invites you to experience our unique life of friends and togetherness. We are situated on over one hundred acres of gently rolling hills and lush river bottom land. Growing a wide assortment of vegetables and medicinal herbs for a farm stand and our own community use, heritage breed poultry, milking a small herd of dairy goats, raising sheep and donkeys, maintaining the beautiful grounds of the estate, and operating a cottage industry keep us busy and open for new friends year round. In addition to the normal farm crew and volunteers, we also have a great time doing the "community night" in the field, with everyone coming out for one evening a week to join in the work and reward of getting our hands in the soil. Guests are frequent all year round and we would love to have you join us. Whether you come for a day or come to stay, our hearts and our farm will always have room for more. Update: Fall 2013 The highlight has been the seven day camping festival. The children always love being outside and eating by the fire. The potato harvest has also gotten under way, with much labor ahead to sort and package for winter storage. A few more larger harvest to go (carrots, beets, celery, celeriac) to wrap up the season and begin the transition to winter crops. Many volunteers have already made lasting memories this summer-come be a part of the team!
Area: MunsterI have 15 acres of land and a riding stables with 7 horses which i hope to have up and running for this summer plus a boarding kennel for dogs. I share my home with 1 brave cat and 4 small dogs! So beware because I rescue lots of animals and lots of dogs. As a consequence of my lifestyle I am always in need of help around the place caring for the animals and around the farm like maintenance work. I have two spare bedrooms or a mobile home for accommodation and would like to attract people of a like mind who love horses and dogs and the outdoor life. I’m located 9 miles from Kenmare and 2 miles from the nearest village. There is plenty of hill walking in this rural location together with sea/river angling and other activities nearby like golf etc. I’m an easy going person, enjoy company and cooking and will welcome you to share my wonderful location and my lovely animals in return for some of your energy in helping me on my land. I always have some sort of project on the go repairing, strimming, hedge cutting, gorse clearing - the usual sort of maintenance jobs! Also, anyone with carpentry skills to build a small hen house would be most welcome. i have Internet access and 2 mountain bikes for use
