Area: ItalyWe are a semi-retired English couple and split our time between the UK and Italy, with the emphasis more and more on Italy. Some seven years ago we invested in a seven cone trullo with 25,000 sq m of land, some 150 olive trees and a variety of other nuts and fruits. To date we have been able to renovate the trullo and have the shell of an extension built, along with a large swimming pool. We like to work the land ourselves and now feel we have it under control, although it requires ongoing attention. In addition we planted 40 new fruit trees last year which will require a bit of TLC. We do our own olive harvest and have plenty of excellent oil. There is, however, a lot more to be done in terms of landscaping – hard and soft, stone wall renovation and external painting in addition to the land maintenance. There is also the internals of the new extension to be completed when they can be fitted in. We are looking for proactive person(s) to lend a hand or two in whichever area their forte lies. In return we hope we can provide an enjoyable experience in sublime and relaxing surroundings. Help would be much appreciated from Easter onwards. We lost our elderly golden retriever in January but now have a young chocolate labrador as our family pet and also Bo, a large Maremma-type Italian dog who we are 'fostering' for the summer.
Area: Languedoc RoussillonWe are an Anglo/French couple in our early 50's with a 15 year old son. Irena and Bernard and our son Christophe. We enjoy people visiting from all over the world. This is a wonderful exchange and we appreciate workers that can give their best, work hard and also enjoy what they are doing and have some fun and good exchanges at the same time. We enjoy sharing ideas and being a contribution to each other in some way. We run a B & B, plus Gites, on 7 acres of land in a beautiful part of south of France, in Le Gard. We do organic gardening, growing all kinds of veggies from tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, beans, to salads and often need help, in the garden, planting, weeding, keeping it tidy. We also have lots of soft fruits, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries etc. so in season we need help with picking soft fruits, making jam. CURRENTLY we are looking for someone who can help with chopping wood, use a strimmer and is good with outdoor work for October and November. We take people for minimum of 2 weeks and longer if all is going well. We are always interested in people who would like to help with the follwoing:- We need help and to maintain the grounds, bringing in cut (Autumn) wood, storing it, clearing the overgrown areas, watering the garden, weeding etc. We are particularly keen on someone that can assist us with updating our web site, ie add a calendar and links to face book, etc... and help to create a facebook page and keep it updated. Anyone who is good at sorting out paperwork, we are having a big clear out. When we have guests we need help with cleaning rooms, making beds and serving up breakfast and clearing up afterwards. We also have a donkey, our pet dog Djoulou who loves being taken for long walks, and 3 cats. We take all our meals together except breakfast, as Bernard works outside as well and gets up really early. Anyone who can use a strimmer, would also be much appreciated and who has some knowledge of painting and decorating and plastering would also be a great asset. I have recently stopped tour guiding work and traveling all around the world and have trained as a Yoga teacher. We appreciate anyone one who has some kind of skill, including being organised, and working as a team or on your own, so that the work we need doing can be done effectively, with some fun, enjoyment and great memories along the way.
Area: OntarioWe live in an older farmhouse, that will, to the best of our knowledge be 150 years old this year. We have just over 11 acres that borders on the heritage designated Grand River in southwestern Ontario. Our 3 children are now grown so we keep 2 horses, 2 ponies, 4 pygymy goats, 2 cats and 2 dogs to make sure that our 4 grandchildren love to visit (ages 6 months to 9 years). We have been operating our home as a B & B since 2002. We have 3 guest spaces, that can accommodate up to 12 people in total, although possible we usually have 4 - 6 people per night in summer months. We are busier in summer as our pool and hot tub is a big draw. We are right on county cycling trails, birdwatching is popular here and we would love someone who loves animals working outside and/or has good organizational skill. Paul works off property full time and Cathy is disabled from a chronic nerve pain condition. As a former elementary school teacher there are boxes of classroom items that I would like sorted and organized for fun with guests with family and/or grandchildren.
Area: OberösterreichDear all! My name is Waltraud. My partner and me, we live very basic (of course we have electricity ;-) and apart from a village in the countryside of Upper-Austria in nice scenery, next to the wood. Here you can enjoy nature by walking, jogging, biking etc…… Next small towns are 3 km and 5 km far away. There you have train-stations, departures/arrivels are running every hour to LINZ. LINZ is the capitol of Upper-Austria, 35 km far away from my home. There is a rich offering of culture. I’m 54 years old, I have a fine, small shop in linz, where I sell among other things my fine and smart works of brazings and other handwork. My partner is 60 years old, his profession is sociologist, marine-engineer and inn-keeper. He is committed in (sub)cultural projects, he writes political and sociological texts...., altogether a very interesting person with a broad science of politics, history, sociologie, contemporary cultural movements, philosophie....., and football, of course. We offer to you a uncomplicated living environment, a home in nice scenery and a appartement for couples. I expect from you curiosity in what’s around you, necessarily interest in culturel events and general help in the household and maintenance works. Open/close chickens house in the morning/evening..., to take care for the house, if we are away. We also love nice cooking and beer and other spirits. I prefer people who speak German, or people, who try to learn German. All others are also welcome. Yours Waltraud
Area: Natural Parc of Morvan - Burgundy - departement of Saône et Loire - About 25km south from the town of Autun - An hour drive from Chalon sur Sâone - 1h45 drive from Dijon, the capital of BurgundyWe are living , my partner Tony (from Liverpool) and I (Claire, french) on a family land in south of Morvan, a granitic area at the heart of Burgundy, part of the natural parc of Morvan. The place, and the village are very special for it's one of the 3 bigger granitic areas of France, so the natural site is classified and protected. The main interest is nature, hiking (300km of path from us), fishing... The nearest village with shops is at 10km ; there is a bar-restaurant just nearby. there are many places of interest about an hour's radius drive: the roman Autun, the medieval abbey and town of Cluny, the Celts capital Bibracte, Chalon on the Saône river...and of course Beaune, Nuits-Saint- Georges and the wine area... Our place is quiet big (10 hectares of fields - 10 hectares of forests), with several buildings, spring water, fresh air, wild birds and animals... A farmer is actually taking care of the fields. We came back in my birth area only a year and an half ago, after long trips around the world and many different experiences. This land here is beautiful, strong and rough (due to the granite and the relatively high altitude for the area - 680m), with a big potential to be developed about agriculture (we already have a reasonably big permaculture garden and plan to have bees soon) but also about handicraft (Claire is creating cloths, hats, bags...from recycled fabrics and is selling them on markets since 5 years; a local shop is to be developed soon and partnership with other artisans is on its way ). There is also a bread oven here to be refitted and putted back to use. And when we don't work on all that, we play music together (irish songs and folk rock...) or paint ! Our plan is to turn this place into an eco-village which could welcome and home several people, for short or long, eventually very long term...depending of the feeling ! It's a good opportunity to enjoy the gorgeous nature around, learn about gardening, and life close to nature, enjoy to prepare nice preservation and specialties from the garden, or help tony on his building projects...and join the band for music playing at night , after a good meal !
