Area: CantabriaWe live in a self rebuilt stone and timber house in beautiful green Cantabria. Just 1/2 an hour to the coast and its beautiful beaches, and one hour from both Bilbao and Santander. We have 3 horses, a sheepdog and a wee kitten. Our family is Canadian and Spanish (Basque) our son has just turned 3 years old. Both Javi and I are enthusiastic cooks and can introduce you to a little of the famed basque cuisine. We can accommodate a vegetarian diet perfectly as we were until recently long time vegetarians ourselves.
Area: lazioI am English and came to Italy 8 years ago, tempted by a charming farm house set in 5 acres of olive grove in beautiful Sabina, just 1 hour north of Rome. The land is too much to manage so I need help. In exchange for 25 hours work a week I will provide accommodation with en-suite, meals and use of inviting swimming pool plus a taste of my life style here. I play Scrabble, MahJong etc. love reading and I love exploring the area. I also have D.V.D.s and English T.V. Please note I feed my helpers well but don't cater for fussy or demanding eaters. "Easy" vegetarians are fine bur please let me know before hand. Also I require my helpers to have travel insurance as they may be using Strimmers (weed wackers). This is rural Italy, no night clubs, few busses, but I am happy to drop helpers at the station for trips to Rome or Orte.

Area: Midi PyreneesWe are Bob and Kathy, an English couple in early/mid 50s and our Portuguese rescue dog, Mista. We usually have our grandson here for the summer holidays too. Our home is located in a beautiful part of the Tarn in South West France, one hour from Toulouse and 25 minutes from Albi. Bob has a small business, servicing and repairing garden machinery, which is mainly a spring and summer activity. We hope to have our gite and one or two chambres available to rent by summer 2014. We like our food, wine, the countryside, dogs and cats, music, cycling, chilling out. We are looking for a couple or two good friends who are happy to share a room, but not necessarily a bed. Helpers should be happy to work five hours per day, be comfortable with dogs/animals, be reasonably fit and healthy and be flexible/adaptable to the task at hand. We are looking for helpers with some building and/or gardening and maintenance skills, as we need to finish the renovations on our little gite. In return we offer comfortable accommodation, good company, lively debate and and three good meals a day. Afternoons/evenings are yours to relax, explore the local countryside, historic towns and villages, swim in the lake/river/pool, walk the dog, learn some french, or english, visit local sights. Kathy is an excellent cook and you could pick up a few new recipes if you enjoy cooking. Bob is handy with machinery (old Land Rover, and a small garden machinery repair business), and has a lot of experience in renovating older properties. Our first helpers were brilliant, and the whole experience was a great success. Sadly, after extending their stay to three months they needed to continue their travels. Having taken a three week workaway type break ourselves helping friends in the UK with a self build project, we are now back in France. We need to make some real progress with the gite and the garden, and would welcome a couple of motivated, energetic helpers.
Area: Kathamandu - Dallu awas (near Monkey Temple)Access to education is not granted to every child in Nepal. Our team aims at providing a partial remedy to that unfortunate situation by offering proper nutrition, a comfortable lodging and a tuition to children from the Ganesh and Lantang area at no cost to the family. Even though our government has made significant progress in the last decade to build new schools throughout the country, the lack of formal teachers in many rural districts of Nepal is a major obstacle for children to access education. On that matter, the Ganesh and the Langtang regions – about 120 km north of Kathmandu – have not been favored. Only a small fraction of the children can buy their places in the few schools that have been established. We are presently hosting five children, all coming from different families, in the hope of giving them a chance to have a better future and, at the same time, fulfilling their parent’s most sacred wish. Our organization lives on donations from individual sponsors and your help, even if not pecuniary, is of great worth to us and to the children. Being away from their family undoubtedly affects the children, but knowing that some people care for them and put great efforts in their success is of an invaluable comfort. Everyone staying with us will experience the Nepalese culture, will have the opportunity to learn a little bit of the language and get a glimpse of the lifestyle and the traditions of Nepal. You will also be able to build your own judgement regarding Nepal's education system. We provide a safe environment to the children and to the volunteers in order for them to fully appreciate their stay.
