Area: British ColumbiaHello! Bonjour! Thanks everyone but WE ARE ALL BOOKED UP FOR 2014. I'll update our profile when we are looking for volunteers again. :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are a happy, busy family with two kids (3 & 6) in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. We are looking for some help with our kids and around the house during the summer- particularly mid-July to mid-august. We have had many different au pairs, travellers and friends stay with us over the years - we love opening up our home and sharing all that Vancouver has to offer!
Area: KärntenHello, my name is Andrea. We are a family living and working in Graz but in summer and other holidays and weekends we stay with my older mother in a big house in Carinthia. During the rest of the year she is alone with her cat and dog in the house. The house was a former guesthouse with many rooms, now we only rent one appartment in summer. I am a teacher in a fashion school in Graz. I like hiking, doing Yoga, swimming, reading, and I like meeting young people and learning about their view of life. Our children, 20 and 25, will not be around all the time, because they are travelling in summer. Our daughter was a workawayer last year and she loved it that is why we want to give the opportunity to others to get to know our country and language and in return get some help back. We are located close to the lake "Wörthersee", only 3 minutes foot walk to the beach. The border to Italy and Slovenia is also very close. It is a great area for nature lovers, outdoor hikers, bikers and swimmers. We would prefer volunteers you have the possibility to stay at least 3 or 4 weeks. In the months of may, June, September and October it would be very helpful if you are able to speak a little bit of german. In this months we are only on the weekends there so during the week you would spend the time with our mother you isn´t alble to speak english.

Area: KentuckyWe farm organically, mostly with horses. Live sort of self-sufficient lifestyle in off grid home, but have farm office with Internet access. Contact us for the link to our youtube farm/music video where you can see farm and meet us. It's different now with the children growing /going and we lost my wife in 2010. now only one child still on farm and they are now away at times now for school/work. Too short handed to continue as normal, but trying 'work exchange' for some extra hands while scaling down. Located in beautiful central Kentucky, one hour north of 'MUSIC CITY USA' (Nashville, TN). Lots of lakes, rivers and world's largest cave system. Mammoth Cave National Park. Also Great Smoky Mountain National Park, which is America most visited Park and is an easy drive. You can check them both out on line. We're not commercially farming now, just growing and preserving much of our own food and for our animals. We breed, raise and train border collies for herding. All of our animals have free run of pastures, except the Border collies we are training. Unless fully trained, if left unsupervised herding dogs will find and possibly harm livestock. So we need help exercising and caring for the dogs since they stay in pens. We also need help caring for the goats, sheep, cows and horses. We also have our own milk cow and sometimes milk goats. We make our own yogurt, can our own food ect. Have four horses for farming and occasional riding. Wild turkeys and deer and peacocks commonly seen. We heat and cook with woodstoves. Sometime we work hard; sometimes we do not. Summer days in growing season can be long and hard, but rainy days help balance it out. We normally take some time off for fun things. That said, life is pretty satisfying just like we are living, so it's not a 'need to get away' thing, we just like to go kayaking and other things too. Feel free to ask anything you wish to determine if interested in visiting and helping us. We enjoy working/interacting with others including those different culturally and spiritually. We've had visitors/helpers from several foreign countries and around the states; through a different work exchange It has been a great two-way experience so far. If you wish, we are glad to supply you with reviews from our guest since it was through another organization. Be wise...be thankful, JCK & Family
