Area: Gironde. We are a fully certified Organic Vineyard with EcoCert. We are David & Amanda (mid 40s), Florence 8 & Martha 9. We arrived here in February 2010 and its fair to say that there has never been a dull moment since! The rest of the residents consist of two horses, a few hens, five cats and Buffy the dog. Accommodation is in a five birth caravan or you can bring your own tent. We can offer workers a variety of experiences here ranging from all aspects of vineyard work, land management, restoration projects, building work, painting, organic and Biodynamic veg production, gardening, poly tunnel growing, managing the horses and even the odd spot of child minding. There is always a project on the go! We also welcome tourists here and provide wine tasting, vineyard lunches and tours so good communication skills are essential if you want to get involved with this bit of the business. We welcome workawayers who are non-smokers and who want to get stuck into some hard work. You must also be prepared to do a few household chores at the end of the day too ie help with the dishes ;-] We find that our environment seems to suit couples and people travelling in pairs really well although we may consider individuals if they are happy to share accommodation. In return we will make sure you enjoy yourself, get you involved with whatever is going on locally and share good food & wine and offer you the chance to experience this wonderful place. Area: UlsterWe are a young couple, Marcus 31 from Ireland and Julie 27 from Denmark who returned to Ireland last year to settle down. We have moved into an old farmhouse that Marcus renovated five years ago. There is 30 acres of land and forestry where we now have 21 animals (ducks, hens, sheep, pigs, horses, cat and dog) and a veggie garden. Our aim is to become somewhat self-sustainable. We have a lot of future dreams for this place and look at it as a creative, inspiring, fun lifelong project. Marcus: I have a degree in computer programming but worked in management and business development for 5 years. I realized the suit job wasn't for me, so I switched to working in construction. Lately I have taken up the outdoors and I'm in the process of becoming an Outdoor Instructor in kayaking, mountaineering and rock climbing. Julie has a degree in anthropology with a specialization in spirituality, religion and shamanism and has done lots of self-development work especially through meditation and life-coaching. At the moment she is working and saving for a diploma and masters in psychotherapy. We have both travelled a lot of the world and have spent almost as much time away as we have at home for the last 7-10 years. We have now come home to settle and start something of our own and we see workaway as the opportunity to let the travelling come to us through people coming to stay instead of us going away. We love culture, people and being social, fun, animals, nature, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, rock climbing, music (We have a band and we play in different pubs a few times a month) and most of all we love adventures of all kinds. We are very positive, welcoming, honest and open minded people.
Area: ZagrebWe are young couple with no children living just outside Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. We have a house and a garden. The house is partly still under construction (so is the garden, too :-). I work mostly at home as film editor, and my girlfriend works in Zagreb as dance teacher. We like nature, sailing and laughing. When it comes to people, we really appreciate honest, cheerful and simple folk. We are vegetarians and non-smokers.
