Beautiful secluded horse farm close to the North Thompson river and many great fishing lakes and miles of quiet trails. Nature is exactly what you will find here if you are lucky you might get to see a bear or two and the many bald eagles in the area. We are in a remote area 1.5 hours from Kamloops instead of city life you will find untouched wilderness and the cowboy way of life with the occasional cattle drive. We love a can- do attitude and you will get out of the experience what you put into it. After a day's work we like to unwind with a swim in the nearby lake in the summer and enjoy a cold beer. Sun Peaks Resort is only 1.5 hours away and the snowboarding and skiing there is great. There are also lots of local lakes that are great for ice fishing. Come learn a little of the cowboy way of life in beautiful British Columbia. A basic English understanding is a must for safety reasons. Hello, we are Ruth and Peter (plus Tabitha, Merlin, Titch, Pushkin, Cheche and Bonny the cats). We have recently moved into a lovely house with 6.5 acres of park and woodland in the Languedoc. Our aim is to turn it into an inspirational example of sustainable, abundant living. We are creating a permaculture kitchen garden, planting fruit trees, getting some ducks and chickens, building a compost loo for camping, and redecorating the house to run workshops and offer Bed & Breakfast in the spring. If you would like to be part of this experiment in sustainable living, and are happy to help with making an organic garden, decorating, doing some practical projects, and generally creating a beautiful environment, then we can offer a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation and vegetarian or vegan food in beautiful surroundings in exchange for about 5 hours' work a day.

We run Riding holidays in southern Spain. Beautiful area, good horses and riding tours from 3 to 6 days. Wonderful village, opportunity to experience another culture, language, food. Volunteer would live in a white mountain villages, horses are based 6kms away. Seasonal help needed spring and autumn.

Area: Umbria

I have a small self-catering holiday business. I am widow in my mid 60's and live in an apartment upstairs and there are two further apartments for holiday let downstairs. I have a swimming pool, quite a reasonable size garden, a vegetable Orto and a small olive grove of 40 young trees. This place is situated between two villages each 2km away. Lago Trasimeno (4th largest Lake in Italy) is 10km away and there are two other smaller lakes nearby. It is a beautiful location but on a proper road and there is a bus service of sorts. I grow my own veg and sell my olive oil to clients when I have enough. The olive grove is grown organically and I try to grow my vegetables as organically as possible. Helpers have the use of one of my two bedroom apartments (which will need to be cleaned on leaving!)and live self catering or eat with me whichever you prefer. I like cooking and can cope with vegetarian preferences but more specialised food regimes will need to cater for themselves There are bikes, internet access,sky TV/video and a DVD available for helpers use. Any potential helpers must be animal lovers because I have two large friendly dogs (labrador & labrador cross), four cats and six chickens all of which are gentle and friendly.

Area: South Bohemia

It is still snowing and miserable, but the time has come to think about the things that need to be done when the sun shines. From May we will be looking for multi lingual help for our Tourist Info Centre. We need mostly European Languages, in order we need German, Russian and French, ideally all spoken by one person. If you speak German plus one please do not be discouraged, please apply for this. We can only take one applicant at a time and non-smoking is essential. From June we will also be looking for some help on the farm. If you are mature, strong and willing to work very hard without breaking everything you touch, please apply for this. We can take more than one volunteer at the farm. Special talents are much appreciated, by which I mean carpentry, mechanics that sort of thing. It is always best if you are drivers and have your licence with you.
