Area: CataloniaHallo ! Richard
Area: Pays de la LoireOur lives have changed a bit now and I (the mum) work away three days a week in UK. My husband stays full time at our farm. We have just added two pigs to our animals and are still looking for people to come and workaway at our farm. Hi, We are a young family with four children aged between 9 years and 12 months. We are an English couple who relocated to France just over three years ago and have been living in our current house for 3 years. My husband works away during the week and so I need help with looking after the children and the animals during the week. We currently have 1 dog, 5 cats, 3 sheep, 5 pygmy goats, 4 ducks, 35 chickens and 28 chicks. Our house is a large farmhouse in the countryside with lovely views which we are currently trying to renovate and extend. We also have a barn which we hope to renovate into a gite and games room in the future. On a Wednesday the oldest two children have various activities that they go to. We would prefer a female volunteer who has experience with looking after young children. The accommodation is a double room with television and a bathroom which is shared with the children. We have wifi internet access in the house which can be used by the volunteer if they have a laptop, or if not, my computer can be used to check emails etc. - We currently need help in the next week or two with clearing our vegetable plot so that we can plant some more seeds and plants.
Area: Warsaw City CenterOur hostel consists of 5 dorms and 2 twin private rooms (we can accomodate around 42 guests at a time). We are based on two floors of the very old builing in the city centre (convenient access to the Old Town, National Stadium & more). We want to provide you with a fantastic and peaceful stay in one of the oldest buildings in the Polish capital city. In contrast with the age of the building, here you'll find a modern guest-service wchich will help you with solving any problems while staying in Warsaw. For workawayers we offer: a bed (incl. a bedding) in a staffroom (securely locked all times), free Wi-Fi (and usage of hostel's computers), free laundry, 24/7 self-service kitchen and basically all hostel's facilities free of charge. Unfortunately, we don't offer any food but there are a lot of shops and restaurants around (including vegetarian and vegan options). We preferably take people in for a month, although we are flexible with the dates.
Area: West Sussex, south-east EnglandPLEASE DO CHECK MY 'CALENDAR' TAB BEFORE EMAILING, AS I DO KEEP IT UP TO DATE! PLEASE NOTE: I am only able to take ONE Workawayer at a time, usually for 1-2 weeks only, as there is not enough work for longer placements. Please do not ask me to host you 'for one or two months' because I am not able to! I'm sorry that I cannot accept Workawayers under 18 years of age, either. I am happy to make arrangements from mid October 2014 due to a cancellation- we could really use someone with skills or some experience in painting, fencing, hard landscaping and/or tiling as we hope to be completing a major refurbishment project around that time. I already have enough Workawayers arranged until then! Since a serious road accident left me slightly disabled 8 years ago, I've found it more difficult to keep up with the day to day work in our house and garden. We grow a lot of our own vegetables organically and also have a fruit garden and flower borders- in total about 0.25 hectares . We keep a few chickens and ducks and have a young terrier bitch. My husband works full time locally and I still attend a physical rehabilitation course several mornings a week, so helpers need to feel happy left alone in a rural situation for several hours and must be able to work on their own initiative for some of the time. I mostly require help in the garden and with some jobs around the house, I especially welcome those with an interest in gardening and I am happy to teach them more! We have been hosts of exchanges for 27 years and so are used to welcoming people from other cultures into our home, we also make baskets and have a number of other craft and rural skills that we are happy to share with helpers. We hope that Workawayers will 'live as family' and share meal preparation or washing up in addition to their volunteer hours in the house or garden. We eat a lot of vegetarian meals using our home grown produce, but also eat meat ( usually wild or organic) ; I am happy to cater for special dietary needs if given adequate notice. We usually go to bed around 10pm and are fairly early risers, so prefer helpers who can 'get up and get going' before 9am on the days that they are working!
Area: AuvergneI am a single-mum of 2 kids. My daughter Margot is 12 years old, she's always happy, funny, and likes travelling, being outside... She practices circus, hip-hop and plays accordeon. She learns English and Spanish at school. My son Sascha is 17 years old. He has got autistic troubles. He's easy-going, can talk and communicate quite well, but can also have a "strange" behavior, well, an autistic one ! ;-) And I can't let him alone, like younger kids (that's why some baby-sitting is needed in case I have to work late in the evening or sometimes during the night, when I have to be away 2 days because of my job). He's actually in a specialized school 40km away from home (he takes the train by his own), learning professional skills, but he doesn't learn any foreign language. And I'm a very optimistic person, who enjoys life and finds always the positive in every situation. I like playing music, meeting my friends, travelling (most of the time in Europe with a small camper), couchsurfing or hosting, running, dancing, going to bed late... ;-) We were already used to hosting friends or couchsurfers at home, and we all three thought it could be a good idea to host foreigners for a longer period, sharing our life, and helping me at home, as it's a bit hard to do everything (as I have an important job and I’ single mum). My kids are really happy about that, and always expect to have a real exchange with people staying at home. As I wish this stay to be an exchange for both, you could share our week-ends if we travel with our camper, meet my friends, go to the cinema, to the swimming pool, or for hiking, ice skating... Except when there is some baby-sitting to do because of my work for example, there is no special schedules for the help, this lets you time to visit also by your own while I'm working and kids are at school. We already hosted 32 people, mostly for one month or more, and it was always a good and interesting experience. We like discovering other culture through their eyes, new recipes from all over the world (we love eating, and meals are at home always a great moment !). Most of them are associated to great and special moments, and we are still in contact with nearly all of them ! B-) We shared nice evenings, week-ends in Lyon, in Paris, at the Mediterranean See, holidays in the Cevennes with the camper, in a camping at the see, one month with our camper in Italy. Some of them also spent few days by my parents in order to visit Vichy, or in Lyon by a friend of mine. And most of them also shared special moments with the kids, like Adrian who taught Sascha how to take the train, or by playing football, hiking, dancing with them... We really have so nice remembers with : Alex from Quebec, Beatriz from Spain, Sina from Canada, Graziano from Italy, Alexis and Liz from the States, Sina a second time, Cecile & Guillaume from France, Emily and Alicia from Australia, Katelyn from Canada, Jasmin from Germany, Jazmine from the States, Tatyana from Canada, Hugo from Canada, Melanie from UK, Adrian from Poland/UK, Eoin from Ireland, Omar from Mexico, Louise from UK, Celiya from UK, Anne from Germany, Joanna from Germany, Alex from Germany, Richard from UK, Pauline from the States, Jana from Germany, Michal from Switzerland, Kate from UK, Isobel from UK, Sonia from Spain and Ivan from Ukraine ! :-)
