Area: Tuscany
I am an English sculptress looking to start a gallery with other artists out here. I need duplicates of my work. I live in a big, restored, stone villa in Tuscany, part of which is used for summer rental, and look after my very elderly mother. This is a beautiful, rural area which offers escape from the pressures of modern life. It is central and well-placed for trips to famous historic centres, but use of public transport is risky. You need to have special skills or be Italian to master the bus timetable. Apart from a sculpture technician it is a good workaway situation for retired couples or a self -sufficient, handy man -type person from Europe, travelling by car. It is really not a comfortable place for student backpackers. The restoration of the farm buildings and the making of a garden on a steep slope, has been a 20 yr project, so , while there is still work to do, the maintenance is piling up. During the winter months it is good to have helpful friends around with plenty of interests and skills to share. A retired architect couple stayed here from Jan to June 2009 and we had a great exchange. They liked the area so much that they are now working to move here so are unavailable for 2010.Area: Coromandel Peninsula
We own a comfortable farmstay set on six acres of peaceful pasture a few minutes drive from Coromandel township. The Coromandel Peninsula is renowned for its scenic coastal route, magnificent beaches, bush walks, art trails and historic gold-mining sites.Area: Alpujarra, Sierra Nevada, Granda, Andalucia, Spain
An established retreat centre offering Yoga and Detox courses in one of the most enchanting regions in Andalucia, surrounded by the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada and only half an hour by car to the Mediterranean. Our farmhouse location is a home-from-home for people who love beauty, yoga, tranquility, and above all, a place to find peace, laughter and simplicity. This is an excellent work exchange opportunity for people with an interest in yoga and who would enjoy listening to our guests, without necessarily needing to be the centre of attention. If you are open-hearted, generous, humourous, grounded and stable and are able to receive and give in equal measure, we'd like to hear from you. Self-motivation and genuine self-confidence is very important, as you will be in daily contact with staff and guests. From November to April there are fewer retreats and this is when we rebuild and upgrade. Opportunities are available for people with skills in carpentry, upholstery, general maintenance, painting, and gardening. April to October: there is an opportunity for 2 Workaway people with specific abilities. Ideally we'd like you to stay for 3 months. One person needs to have a firm grasp of general maintenance (pool cleaning, garden watering system, repairing chairs, hammocks, tipis, electric sockets, a leaky tap or shower, car tires/engine coolant etc. Also some work in the kitchen. This position would usually suit a man with a cheerful character and an interest in people and yoga. The second person's job includes assisting in the kitchen, laying/clearing table, chatting with guests at mealtimes and keeping the house tidy after the cleaner goes home. Also mid-week washing & drying (mostly towels). This position would usually suit a woman with a cheerful character and an interest in people and yoga. Accommodation: Teepi Meals: delicious, plentiful Yoga classes: yes! please commit yourself to a class every day WIFI Internet: yes (bring your own laptop) Bicycle: yes Sauna: yes Jacuzzi: yes Free time: 1.5 days (usually Wednesday all day and Saturday pm) Work time: about 5-6 hours per day (variable).Area: North of Pheonix Arizona

Helpers at our farm get to stay in a nice old rural house with bathroom. We offer you 3 meals a day, which you’ll prepare with the ingredients we’ll provide you. You’ll be sharing the kitchen and dining room with other people, which will enable you to have contacts with other staff members working here. Some of them are staying on the farm, while others come around during the day. We expect you to help us 5 hours a day on the farm with different chores, such as weeding, cleaning leaves, working in the vegetable garden, recovering and cleaning old items (i.e. leather equipment for horses), cleaning and organizing old tiles, cleaning old objects, helping out if a wedding or a summer camp is about to be held. We are quite flexible, so usually we give our helpers a list of what needs to be done and they organise themselves. The property is beautiful, but you should know it is also an isolated and calm place, even more in winter. The nearest town, Coruche, is 6 km away and getting to the bigger city, Santarém, is a 30 min bus ride (there are busses every hour to go to either place). If you don’t like being on your own most of the time, it might be nice to have the company of another helper if you can find one. Getting here from Lisbon is easy, you simply need to take the bus from Lisbon to Coruche at the Campo Grande bus and tube station (a 1h45 ride). Since your organization does not provide any kind of insurance, it is advisable you travel having your own. If you are a tourist in Portugal, hospitals will provide help, but you need to bring documents and paper work from your country. Antonio and myself live between Lisboa and the farm, as we need to have an office in the city. We go regularly to the farm to do some work and to check how things are going. Our children are between 16 and 25; you might see them if they aren’t away travelling like you.
