Bus service is very limited going west so the only way you can get west from here is by hitch-hiking or if you have your own transportation. I wish you luck in your adventure and hope you take good memories of Canada home with you. =========================== My husband (Regis) and I (Noreen) are an older couple and had had enough of life in a stressful, polluted environment. So in the Fall of 2008 we sold our house in Southern Ontario and bought an old, neglected 42 acre farm in Northern Ontario. We are "semi-retired". I am trying my hand at organic gardening and year-round greenhouse for our own organic veggies. Regis is a "jack-of-all trades" and has just about every tool you can imagine for auto mechanics, welding, wood working and general "messing around" and he is quite willing to show you how to use them. Our 2 children are both grown and gone. Our daughter is married, and has a daughter of her own who starts Grade 1 in Sept 2011. Our son was "living the life" in Australia, working maintenance at an island resort on the Great Barrier Reef but is now back in Canada working at a lodge in Jasper, Alberta with no interest in joining us in our new, boring, way of life, away from the hustle and bustle of "civilization". Area: Central Ohio

The farm is comprised of 20 acres with a large organic vegetable garden. About 10 acres are reserved for hay making to feed the dairy goats, llamas, horses and rabbits. The farms has ducks and chickens also. The farm is involved with agritourism and offer classes on the farm. One house on the farm is used as a Bed & Breakfast and for classes. Ongoing work to save the endangered Butternut tree from extinction is a major project. The farm has about 50 butternut trees on it. The farm setting is a rural location, about 15 miles from the nearest town. There is no mass transit system. Cell Phone access can be limited during a storm but most do not have any problems.

Our Ranch is a 74-acre spread set in the "Out West" sagebrush steppe canyons and river valley in the Okanogan Valley of Washington. Surrounded by alfalfa fields, orchards, and State lands, It has a timeless peace about it that comes from land whose husbands labored with love and gratitude for its bounty. At age 50, I bought the land that became The ranch. It was a decommissioned orchard and had been "rode hard and put away wet." With my 70 year old friend, Betsy, we began to create from the rubble an oasis of health. We are in the fifth year of transformation and now boast of producing hay, grass-fed beef, pork, chicken and rabbit; all are raised on pasture. As we plant our hay fields and food crops, we will do so as organically pure as possible; however, we have no plans to jump the hoops required to label our products "organic". We are against the ingestion of foods laced with herbicides, pesticides, hormones or antibiotic additives. We mindfully avoid Genetically Modified Frankenfoods. We prefer to grow our own food-- for our people, horses, mules, ponies, steers, pigs rabbits and dogs. Between 2010 and 2011, We have hosted well over a dozen farm volunteers and with their help, we accomplished oh-so-much. Our hats are off to these fine people. As always, we're looking forward to meeting new volunteers. Their chemistry and energy is just so invigorating.

I own 11 acres in the Rocky mountains at 8,000 ft. I work full time so don't have enough time for all the work that needs to be done. Our (my 2 sons are involved-off and on but ultimately will be a part of things) dream is to make our living, sustainably off our property.

We offer guests of various experience levels the opportunity to ride and experience ranch life, for a day or a week, on a beautiful, timbered high-country Nebraska working cattle ranch. We are a family of 6 operating this business, my parents, my husband and myself, and our 2 children.
