We spent 10 lovely days with Sue and Jim. These 10 days were really enjoyable and fun. Most of the time we did weeding in the garden . Since the weather was almost perfect, it was no problem to work outside! Plus thanks to the work outside, we even got some sun and that was also one of the aims in Portugal. After work were Sue and Jim really helpful and showed us different places in Algrave- local markets, beach and nearest cities. We would really like you to thank you for that, because we got to see so more of real Portugal and places, where we wouldn´t have gone by ourselves. And we can´t forget the excellent food that Sue and Jim cooked. We felt everyday like we´re in somekind of fancy restaurant J We have really good memories from your place and we are delighted to come back. If we come to Portugal, we´ll definitely take contact with you! And than you again for hosting us!

I stayed a long time with Brigitte and Philippe. They are very generous and really good cooks! I'm agree with all the compliments that the others workaways made!! They know very well the region and they gave me a lot of tourists informations. Sometimes they lent me a car for my travels in the area (so nice!). The house is beautiful and the view is just excepcional. I had lot time for myself... I had lot of fun here so: lets go!!

Staying with the crew marked my first experience with a volunteer work exchange and I can't imagine a better introduction. Such a great atmosphere on this farm; good people, beautiful surroundings. Good, honest work which you're well fed for and can feel you've earned at the the end of the day. I cleaned bee hive frames, sawed wood, melted lead and cleaned up an older boat. . .basically whatever Zeyang said needed doing. Our weekends were entirely free, and the tools were available to us if we wanted to work on our own projects. . .like making VIP lounges for baby chickens ;) Both Zeyang and the people volunteering with him were incredibly friendly, and an absolute pleasure to work with. If I'm in the area again, I'd stop by for another several weeks in a heartbeat.

Unforgettable experience working with this awesome family! Always a smile, a laugh, and great ideas to share all around. As hosts, they were so good-natured, open to new ideas, kind, hospitable and just plain FUN. There were always options to do whatever work you're most comfortable with and great attitudes to go along with it. The area is charming with excellent bike rides around, and some nearby towns with cafes and shops and such. In addition, the pigs are charming as hell and I truly miss them almost as much as I miss the family, haha;) I'd love to go back as soon as possible...

It has been a while since my time with Mieke and her wonderful household, but the lapse in time has only increased the fondness of my memories. Mieke has created a warm, comfortable environment, full of love and positive energy where you will undoubtedly feel incredibly welcomed and at home. The area is very beautiful and scenic, and Forest Row is the loveliest of towns. I'm sure that whatever you do there, it will be an amazing experience and not one that you'll soon forget!

We have had the most delightful time with Polly and her two lovely daughters for several months. We have stayed at various times in one of the gites, at the beach house, and in her house with the children. Polly is a simply charming and energetic woman who runs her business with professionalism and good taste and the fact that we all had rather a lot in common meant that our original stay of one month was extended. Over the last few months we have done everything from house sitting and dog walking to full-on decorating, floor plans and elevations, lots of painting and decoration, installation and repair of various things, and Mark installed a new bathroom for the family including tub, tiles, taps, and new flooring. In December we were fortunate enough to be staying in one of the gites next to Polly's large house, house sitting and pet sitting while Polly and the girls were in England, and we were able to save the house from burning down when we heard the tiles exploding from the heat. The local firemen arrived with several trucks and managed to contain the damage to the garage and storeroom. It was a shocking episode, but it just cemented our friendship even further. Anyone who comes to stay with this wonderful family will enjoy their time here in this particularly lovely part of Normandy. We cannot recommend Polly highly enough!

They are just lovely creatures which we just wanna tease 'em more and more (Quinn included) XDDDD We learnt so much 'bout New Zealand & its cultures by her family's activities and enjoyed every day there, making Greymouth be so so much more interesting to us. I stayed here for 2 weeks in July 2011 with my friend and we both could not have had a better time. Mohamed and the rest of the villagers were all extremely kind and would do anything to make our stay comfortable. We were able to learn so much about life in a Moroccan Berber village by being a member of the village - we felt like part of the family. We were able to attend several Berber weddings, go on day trips to Agadir and the mountains and really intergrate into a Berber way of life. I would recommend this to anyone who isn't afraid to experience a completely different but thoroughly enjoyable way of living! Thank you everyone!

We would like to sincerely thank Matt, Becky, Ed and Henri for welcoming us so completely into their home. Matt and Becky are a fantastic couple, generous with their time and energy and always keen for a chat and a glass of wine or two! And their boys, Ed and Henri are an absolute delight and make you feel instantly at home with their love of meeting new people, and a laugh around the dinner table. The living quarters are fantastic, with a lovely self-contained living area at the top of the house, and Becky's food is FANTASTIC. You will want to leave with her recipes in hand-guaranteed. Argein itself offers some beautiful, scenic walks, and we were lucky enough to spend a day canyoning in one of the nearby towns (about 1 1/2hrs away) which we would highly recommend to anyone staying. Thanks again Thatchers! -Jared and Carly.

Dan and I completed our stay at Prato di Sotto just a few couple of weeks ago and it was a great experience! The first week we were with Penny we helped with the animals learning their routine and the goings on of the house so that we could take care of things while she went on holiday for a week. We were able to help her with the animals and build a stone wall while she was away, and then stayed on with her for another week and a half after she returned. We had a wonderful time, and it was great getting to know such an amazing, dynamic person. Penny has created a beautiful property, and we felt very fortunate to be welcomed into this precious space. We had beautiful meals together enjoying good conversation, wine and classical music. Our accommodation could not have been better. We stayed in a charming cottage complete with wood burning stove, stereo, and kitchen. What more could a couple need in the cold?! Penny was very gracious and we are forever grateful. Much love to you, the doggies and chickens!

We stayed with M. and T. for 2 weeks, doing general maintenance and weeding. T. and M. have turned out to be considerate hosts, friendly and ready to help. The accomodation was the most luxurious we had so far as workawayers: bedrooms with en suite bathroom, pool, WiFi, DVD player... and also allowed some privacy for us. M. and T. provide one big, delicious meal per day, and they will give you a lift to the next markets and shops for your shopping. The area is beautiful for walks and relaxation, in the villages there were a lot of partys and concerts on.

My sister and I were workawayers for Julia in late September/early October of last year. We meant to give feedback on this site ages ago but the website our account was acting up! However we could not let it go unsaid that our stay with Julia at the Chateau was a truly unforgettable experience! The house was beautiful and Julia and Teg were fantastic to be around! When we weren't helping ready the Chateau for the winter through various projects like cleaning out storage spaces and ironing, Julia made sure that we experienced the best that the region had to offer, including walking the canal to nearby villages for ice cream and seeing the amazing medieval town of Carcassonne. Dinner was always a fun and homey experience with great conversation and everyone pitching in. Julia really could not have been more warm and accommodating. Anyone with the chance to volunteer as a workawayer for Julia (and Teg!) should not pass up the opportunity!

I stayed with Suzie and Jamie for about five weeks and really enjoyed my stay. They are a warm and welcoming couple who introduced me to the local environment around in the area and made me feel at home. The nature around is absolutely beautiful and there's always music in the air! This is the ideal place to get away from the city in the rural setting in South-Western France and find inspiration. I enjoyed walking in the woods with the dogs, Binky and Banjo, and reading in their beautiful garden. We went to market on Wednesdays in the nearest village, to a lot of flee markets around the area and to see Jamie play with has band in Pau. I can also recommend a one-day trip to Lourdes or Toulouse if you want to go sightseeing. I had a great time with Suzie and Jamie and got to meet a lot of friendly people - both neighbors and other work-awayers. The work is satisfying and the food and accommodation was perfect! I can truly recommend work-awaying there! Hope you have had a good summer and that you are all doing well (also the doggies and Alfie). Love from Signe.

And even though we had too communicate with sign language alot of the time, we really became good friends. I would reccomend this workaway experience to anyone. Especially if you like kids. Glanyrafon is a beautiful, comfortable house in a lovely area. Coming from the extremely hot, dry summer of Madrid, I really appreciated being surrounded by such green countryside and enjoyed having milder weather. The problem is that it’s isolated (a one hour walk away from the nearest village) and there is no signal in the valley where the house is located. However, Joan made a point of taking me to places and organising nice outings. I enjoyed meeting different people (thus improving my English –and even learning how to pronounce Welsh names!): family and friends as well as walkers who stayed at the B&B. I really appreciated learning about the area, the people, etc., etc. As for the work, it wasn’t hard and Joan is flexible. It was mainly helping around the house and gardening.

We have just finished a 7 week stay with this lovely family and it was an eye-opening experience in how dedicated and passionate people can live sustainably and lightly on the land. My husband Mark did building work and I built a website so we weren't actually a part of the food production aspects, but we paid quite a lot of attention to how eco-conscious Katy and Peter's methods were. It was something we had aimed for ourselves in Australia and never managed to achieve due to the harsh climate conditions. They have been totally embraced by the citizens of their rural French community and that speaks volumes since they are originally from England and have only been in France for a little over a year and a half. They've made every effort to be a part of the community instead of only associating with other expats -- and it shows in the richness of their lives. We left Normandy with a deep admiration for their sense of purpose and hard work. And their daughter Jasmine is a delightful and extremely bright young girl of 12. We've had wonderful long conversations with Katy and Peter and they are certainly well apprised of world events and social trends. And Katy's every-growing knowledge of herbal remedies and plants to sooth and heal definitely came in handy when I had an upset stomach for a few days! If you want to learn about sustainability, raising animals, gardening methods, herbal remedies, living in a more eco-conscious manner, eating seasonally, and immersing yourself in a genuinely French lifestyle, this is DEFINITELY the place for you to come. If you crave an urban experience with cafes on the corner and groovy shopping opportunities around the corner, you'll need to looks elsewhere. We feel that we have made lifelong friends in Normandy and this should say a lot -- we are planning a return visit later in the year!!!

I had such a wonderful time with Charlotte and Ruby and the two weeks passed by way too fast. Ruby is such a lovely girl and I loved the evenings, talking, watching a movie and having delicious dinner. We went to Granada and I got the chance to explore the surroundings on my days off. I'm really gonna miss the dome, because it was incredible to wake up with the sun shining in and the stunning views. I very much hope to come back some day! Thanks for everything!

I fell in love with this warm family and charming place just from the first hours, first conversations. They are so warm, full of interest of everything around them and full of passion of what they are doing. They do everything with their heart, you immediately feel happy of helping them! I stayed only about one week, it was a bit too short to understand how everything works and how some things should be done, but I feel I learned something from them, some things about their attitude to life, their way of living and I'm so-so-so happy about that week! Rosaria draws such a beautiful, deep paintings, Emanuel and Francesco are simply such lovely guys and I wont forget Daniel's french omellette! And of course, cooking with Corrado and helping Marion and chatting with her (even without me speaking any Italian) was so much fun! Thank you all!

I stayed with the Rosenhagens for three weeks, and had a lovely time with this warm and welcoming family. The days were very relaxed and the work pleasant - just spending time with the two children (which was really not a chore!) and helping out with a bit of cooking, gardening and cleaning. The family speak very good English but also gave me the opportunity to improve my German, and we often chatted about all sorts of things. The area is near lots of big cities such as Cologne, Bonn and Dusseldorf, so there is plenty to see and do. I have really enjoyed my time with the Rosenhagens, who made me feel right at home, and would like to thank Helga, Achim, Vincent and Victoria for their kindness and hospitality.

Matt and Becky are such a lovely couple and their handsome sons and charming animals have been a joy to live amongst. Our two weeks here have passed WAY too quickly! This is a stunning part of France scenery-wise and they enjoy an enviable quality of life here. I can sum this up for future Workaway folks by stating that if you are looking for good company, lively and sincere conversations, delicious food, stunning scenery, a lovely home, and an energetic family life -- this is the place for you! We will truly miss every bit of this.

I really enjoyed riding Gromit (thank you) and of course Frodo. It was a pleasure for me to help Judy with the young horses and also to learn a bit about gardening ( thank you Katy). They are really friendly guys, very easygoing and laid back and in no time 190 felt like home to me.I had been dreaming all my life of living some time in the UK and Matt and Sami made me this special gift. I worked at this Village School for 1 month and had an amazing time with Ten and Ben! The teaching is good fun, and leaves plenty of time to explore the local area, learn about the variety of cultures that the area offers, or EAT the beautiful food that Ten and Ben will cook 3 times per day! Really recommend to anyone who wants a great experience with a Thai / Burmese family off of Thailand's heavily beaten track!

I stayed 5 wonderful weeks with the family and enjoyed every day of it. 4 stars is simply not enough. The friendlyness and care that I met were overwhelming. I worked with Hannes on the guesthouse, making a nice kitchen and a water heating system. It was a real pleasure working together with him. The vegetarian food was excelent. At the finca you will meet a spiritual lifestyle, which only is discussed when you're open for it. We made walks in the area, climbed La Maroma and made a visit to Granada / Alhambra. I met lots of nice people and learned very much about different food styles: vegatarian, vegan and whole fress food. It's always difficult to change a lifelong experience with eating meat, but here I definitely found a start for a healthier life. Did you know that the CO2 problem for 50% finds it's cause in the eating of meat? That 2 out of 3 people in the so called 'civilized world' die because of eating meat? How civilized can one be? I didn't. Now I know and will act according to that. Being a host (http://www.workaway.info/17821486344c-en.html) it was very nice to experience to be a workawayer for the first time. I can highly recommend this host, you will not regret it. I will definitely be back.

Some days there was a lot to do and some not so much, but they always made sure I got enough time off, and were full of suggestions to help me make the most of my stay. There is plenty to do in the area, and life is never boring when there are two young children around! The girls are fun and bright and watching them pick up english so quickly was very rewarding. The flat is very nice, and the food too. It was interesting to see everyone switching all the time between spanish and catalan, and I learned a lot. Thanks to all of you for a lovely time, I hope we get to meet again before long. Keep in touch!

Their house and property is country side paradise. The whole time I spent there was full of laughs and great times, there wasn't a dull moment what-so-ever. If it wasn't for my itinerary and expiring visa, I would have stayed for months - they would have had to kick me out, because every day was such fun. The only problem is, my next workaway experience has MASSIVE shoes to fill. The working part was really relaxed. It included, gardening, especially weeding, getting lots of wood ready to store for the winter, cleaning, tidying and cooking. It also was a joy to teach Michael the flute!=) No one should miss such a unique experience!

Tom and Belinda are marvelous people, and Sam and Amos (mooooom! :D) are doing their best to teach and learn from us. Excellent team over there. I have stayed with Andrzej in the same room, so I am standing behind his words. I spend two weeks here in May, and I loved it. I felt like it was such an authentic way to experience Italy: right in the beautiful italian countryside, with rolling hills, green valleys, and tiny medieval villages surrounding you. You work right in the middle of these incredible panoramic views. While I was there, we spent most of our time pruning olive trees, which is really fun work, but we also weeded and planted the garden, did some cleaning (not too much) and cooked a couple big meals for everyone, including a barbeque. Since there are often several other workayers/woofers (it depends, i supposed), you meet lots of different people and have people to spend your time with. The work was never too much, they're very fair about, and you definitely get the sense that getting to know the family and participating in meals and conversation is an important part of your stay (that being said, there's definitely a give and take, and the harder you work, the better your relationship with the family is going to be). It can get a little disorganized at times, because you don't always know what you should do, but if you're patient and take things in stride, your time there will be rewarding and even relaxing. I highly recommend this host!

Yeah! We stayed here for 3 weeks! We started with the olives which was a big job! But it was fun working with Claudio up on the land. Lunch amongst the olive trees, barbecue for Guyane's birthday, playing with Gea (puppy love at first sight). When we were'nt picking olives, the work was adapted to our skills. Working the land, fixing some furniture, sewing a tablecloth, making a screen for the window... Fun creative jobs. Michelle is a very motivated person, like a burst of wind! Always happy to give us a ride to the store or to the train. We are grateful she insisted we organize our schedule to be able to visit Orvieto and Roma :) Very well worth the trips! We met so many interesting people while we were there, friends of the family, and we even had the chance to meet Dany before he left for the year!!! We had the most beautiful room with plenty of privacy, and having the chance to share Claudio's cooking with the family was fantastic! Although the house is far from town and we needed a lift to go, we found that we didn't need to go that often.. Walking around in the mountains, and the haunted house, and the etruscians, and the tower... all that kept us quite busy when we weren't working. A wonderful place to visit Thanks guys!!!!

Thank you Rosaria, Daniel, Emanuel and Francesco for an amazing three and a bit weeks! Our work was mostly in the garden (weeding, lawn mowing, chopping wood, cleaning the pool, helping with the animals, making concrete for the new woofers/workaways room etc) and helping Corrado in the kitchen-with cooking and cleaning-(when guests were staying). This was our first workaway experience and we felt so at home here. We generally worked from about 7 or 8am - till 1 or 2pm which is when we had lunch and then cleaned the dishes, afterwards we would spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or exploring the surrounding countryside( the small town of San Venanzo is about a 30 min walk away from the farm house). Rosa and Daniel took us to a medieval festival, a local fair in Marsciano and welcomed us to a friends birthday party making us feel like part of the family! Rosa is the Italian Mother you always wanted and she fed us so well (not to mention Daniels french omelette!). We would recommend this wonderful family to everyone!

I am departing from here in two hours and must say that I am truly sad to leave. I have not only felt a part of this organization, but also a part of the community- talking with the vendors at the local market, playing futbol with our students, and being subject to the sounds of roosters calking and dogs barking in the middle of the night. I will miss it all. But as I had read before arriving here, it is the people that make this experience worth while: Luz and Manuel- the managers of this whole operation; Estella- my Peruvian mother who cooked magical meals that I looked forward to every day; and the students, rambunctious, but wonderful and so eager to learn. I was on the edge about coming here, unsure and frightened because I did not know what to expect, but these people were kind and welcoming and I am so glad that I had the chance to meet them. Thanks so much for everything, -Chas

There were opportunities to explore the region (I visited Samboja Lodge and Derawan Island) and take some Bahasa lessons through the school. The whole experience was so positive - Thank you :)

Stephanie and I were Hilary's first workawayers back in December and January. We did not know what to expect, but could not have asked for a better place or people to spend 6 weeks of our travels with. There was an abundance of things to do and Hilary was a care free boss who let us manage our work ourselves giving us freedom to explore the area when we could. The afternoon soup for lunch was always delicious and Steph and I looked forward to it each day. The most rewarding part of the job was to see the joy it brought to the family that an overdue project was being completed, and that it just required a bit of time and hard work on our part. When you see how much work Hilary does your hard work pales in significance, the lady never stops! It was definitely worth our while and the time spent here was amongst the highlights of our trip. We both enjoy animals and the cats and dogs were great company. This would be a great place to spend the Summer as you can enjoy the pool, the river and the sunshine. The winter could get a little tiresome if you are a single traveller but I would still recommend it for perhaps a shorter stay. David and Steph.

As our first Workaway experience, working at has been a great experience. Miguel, Victor, and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and fun. The work was not bad and we were able to participate in many of the guided tours put on by the hostel – I highly suggest hiking Volcano Baru. Additionally, the staff helped us work on our Spanish which improved from nothing to something. Living the hostel life was great and I highly suggest it as you get to meet many different characters. Thank you Miguel for letting us stay!

Namaste dear travellers :) My name is Lydia. I have been staying here with the children for over one month in 2011. I have contacted them through workaway while planning my big journey, longing to experience life in a different country from different perspective, giving me an opportunity to understand he life, people , culture more...and i am glad i did!! Staying with children in this small family run orphanage in such an incredible country like Nepal is truly an amazing experience..being a part of their world for a while, doing all this simple daily activities with them, seing how they think and act is just great. You can not fall in love with them. Kamala and Prakash are also both very caring, always happy to give you an advice and show you around.. I wish all of you - lucky you- a lovely time of your life in this house..L. xx

Actually, I wasn’t directly by Simon, but I met him, when I was as a Workawayer by his mother. He spent several days with us and I can honestly say that he ranks among the people, who really tries to live better (more “eco” and more purposely). Shortly: humorous, excellent cook, great person, I’m glad to meet him. I made next super “social” experience and I think, he too, because after my return home, he became a new host 

This was our first workaway experience and kind of last minute request but we are sure that we couldn't get into any better place on Earth to start this new adventure. Now when we think of this experience we actually feel kind of speachless as any words are not enough for describing how gratefull we are for having possibility of comming to help on this farm. From the first moment we felt more like at home and had strong impression of staying with a family or very good friends not just hosts. This family is simply incredible, easy going, open and neat and treated us in very gentle and kind way always giving all the best they could to make us feel comfortable. With great pleasure we helped them with cutting woods and any other needed work but we've also had plenty of time just for ourselves to rest and sightseeing. They actually spoiled us with hospitality by giving a wonderful place to stay, plenty of food, a car to use and also taking our family for some journeys arround to discover Maine. Our kids spent there most unforgetteble time and through playing and working together with our host's kids incredibly improved their language skills. We are very happy that our path led us into this beautiful place and hope to comeback here again (hopefully in summer) to experience even more of Maine's beauty. This family simply stolen our hearts and we are sure we've made here a lifelong friendship. Send you lots of blessings and see you again xxx Radek, Dominika, Arletta and Aisha ;-)))

I left a piece of heart in this house! House surrounded by greenery, tranquility, serenity. The family is fantastic, comprehensive, flexible and always available. Always ready to listen. Good people. Michael and Louise are exceptional. Advice for those wishing to learn the language while learning the Irish traditions. The house is in the countryside, far from big cities but in the middle of the island and then in a good position to design small, weekend travel. I wish this family the best, your friend in Sicily. I'll be waiting when you want for your holiday in Italy

This Farm is one of these rare places which you unconsciously start calling 'home' after just a few days. The main reason why are certainly all those wonderful people who make you feel so very welcome. You just have to take them to your heart... It's actually more of a pleasure than a must to work with them. Thank you all so very much for everything! I really can't imagine a better host than you and I'll always remember my time with you as one of the best times of my life =)

However, what really set this experience apart from the rest was the family, from great conversation with Polly to endless horseplay with the girls. I won't soon forget my Moyon family and I wish them the best of luck with the rest of their summer. They cannot be recommended enough. Ben

Hello, I couldn't have make any better experience than in my first workaway job in Wicklow - it was just a lovely one and I really enjoyed my 6 weeks there!! At first I was a little bit scared - I didn't know if we would like each other - that's always the existing risk - but they just blew it away! Trish and Ian are amazing, I really like them - they let me feel as I would be a family member! The work isn't that hard: mostly I did the laundry, cleaned the rooms, painted a little bit - it wasn't more than 4 hours per day with one day of per week - they always gave brilliant advices when I asked them regarding tours & things to do. The house is a very cozy one, sitting in front of the fireplace and having a chat with them was always very nice, thank you for that! Wicklow Town in general is a really nice and small one with its advantages and disadvantages - for me they were only advantages. There are a lot of pubs and people are always interested in who you are.. For me it wasn't difficult to get in a chat with them, but probable it depends on your own personality! Yes, I definitely would recommend this hostel because of Trish and Ian (I don't have any comparisons, but they are really great ) & because of the work! I hope to see you soon! xx

I had a great experience staying with Sacha and friends. He does an excellent job of making his guests feel like a family and setting a humorous mood. He can seem blunt and opinionated at first but once you get to know him better his gentle side comes out. In the end I appreciated his bluntness--not enough people these days will tell you what they think straight out, and he's a smart guy with interesting opinions. As a musician it was good to chat with him, and I enjoyed playing jazz with his son. I appreciated his patience when we were doing outdoor work, because it was my first time with many of the required tasks. I never thought I'd have such a good time living with a middle aged man in the middle of nowhere. And of course, if you're interested in woodworking, there is a lot you can learn from him.

Very unfortunate circumstances made it impossible for Hugh to work with us in the vineyard, so we mainly tended to the cleaning of the guests' rooms and tidying up after their breakfasts. We fed the chicken on some days and baked on others. We also got a chance to bond with three generations of their family, we feel lucky to have met as interesting people! The horses are very high and gorgeous and it was a real pleasure to spend some time with them. Judy allowed me to ride her horses or Amy's pony when I wanted to, which was very cool! I am very grateful because she trust me and I loved to talk to her because she explained a lot of things about horses and everything! She is very pleasant to talk to as the rest of the family. Mike (the dad) is very funny! And the children (Sam 17 and Katy 23) are very friendly, mature and open-minded. You can talk to them about everything! And Katy has a big garden with loads of delicious vegetable! If you spend some days with this family you'll appreciate the food because they are really good cookers! and everybody's cooking! Every meal was delicious! Thanks a lot! In addition they made me discover Waterford, The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher, The Guiness and some traditional irish music (aha)! They are fantastic! And don't be afraid of being lost in the country because friends are always coming and going in this very lively house! I really spend 2 wonderful weeks with this family and I recommend it to everybody! Thanks a lot, I hope I'll see you soon!

We stayed at this place for just under two weeks, and it's safe to say that we loved every moment of it. The location is picturesque, to say the least, and the accommodations are comfortable and inviting. Everyone involved with the project is invested whole-heartedly, and the atmosphere they create with that dedication is infectious. We were also very happy to find that our hosts had every intention of utilizing our individual skills and interests in our every day responsibilities and our more intensive projects. We have every intention of coming back for a longer stay!

Alex, Ulli, Flurian and Simon welcomed us into their family and included us in lovely meals and day trips with their friends. We spent almost 3 weeks here (1 with the family and almost 2 house sitting). The work was varied and included assisting with the chocolate, working in the garden, sanding radiators, helping with the goats and the kitten etc and we loved every minute of our stay!!Foix is a great town with lots of community events on during summer which we got to enjoy. Dont be scared of staying in the 'barn' as they have made it very homely! Thanks for everything!!

Our time in there was great. We were thoroughly spoilt and looked after. Kris' cooking was a real treat, especially her homemade waffles!! It was a pleasure to work for Kris and Karl and help out where we could. We really hope we can visit again some time, even for a cuppa!! If you do get the chance to help this lovely couple out, do so.

Staying with Ann, Fitz and Lydia was lovely. They made me feel very welcome for the 10 days that I spent with them. The work is reasonable and if you love the outdoors you will truly enjoy your time. Plus the surrounding area to their property is sooo beautiful. The food was amazing and fresh and I am finding it a little difficult to eat British food now. So if you love fresh air, good food and excellent company make one of your workaway experiences with Ann and her family and you will not regret it. You will possibly want to stay there forever.

We had an amazing time in Hirafu. Scott is a great guy. He let you work for a fair amount of hours each day but you can decide for your self which hours of the day you'll be working. So he gives you a lot of freedom during the day which is really good and we liked and appreciated that a lot. There is certainly enough to do for Scott. Things like cleaning, moving stuff and chopping up couches! HAHA. But the two most important reasons for staying and working for Scott are: number 1: the amazing skiing! Hirafu is one of the best places for skiing in the world, we (koen more than me) went out almost every morning the enjoy the fresh new powder! And number 2: eating homemade Omiyakiyaki (if you write it like that) made by Scott and his wife. It was the best!

I have been here for a month and it has been great! I work my share and often the family takes me with them when they go to piacenza or rivergaro. I have been cutting wood and helping with grounds care. I also help harvest the beans. I recommend to others who have a country background. This is a great family that always makes sure I'm fed and warm (is winter right now).

This was our first workaway experience and it is hard to imagine falling into a better situation. We helped to build fences, work in the garden and help around the house, all of which were valuable experiences. We also put together an above ground pool which provided relief from the summer heat and many fun times. Thanks for your warmth and generosity. We will never forget our Italian family. In July I stayed two wonderful weeks in the enchanting Cambridgeshire countryside at Debbie`s and Matt`s place. They are the most warm and welcoming people you can ever imagine!!! I had a great time with them, their lovesome daughters and other workawayers from GB and France. There was a lot of space, a beautiful, comfy house, a huge garden with all varieties of work to do and artistic inspiration wherever you lay your eyes on - it couldn`t have been more gorgeous! I`m really happy and thankful that I had so much luck with my first workaway experience. I hope to get back and see them all again soon. Wonderful, special People!

This retreat was amazing. So beautiful and peaceful. Mr Thakur, his wife, Mr Sharma and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. Sharma helped me learn some Hindi and Mr Thakur and I had some very intellectual conversations over meals. Volunteering here was such a rewarding experience. I met so many great people who were guests to the retreat. When I traveled back to Delhi I was able to connect with some of them for a tour of that city. The views from the retreat and the hikes I did while accompanying the guests were breath-taking. This retreat is a different taste of Indian life. A much more relaxing experience than in any of the cities.

I've had such a great time at the farm and learnt more than I could have imagined. I never expected for one minute to find myself with such a welcoming friendly kind and easygoing host. The kids are an absolute delight and once they've calmed down enough to spend some great one on one time with, make the occasional raucous evening so worth it. There's a lot of love on this farm! The work was interesting, often out of the ordinary and always out of the mundane! There is never a dull day and the work is very reasonable. I was usually either chainsawing and chopping logs collected from the forest, caring and working with the impressive animals, learning and improving skills constructing an Isotent structure or doing a bit of work on the land but by no means had any idea what the next days work would bring! The best advice I can give to future helpers is don't hesitate in coming, fix a solid end date because leaving is damn hard and to get the bikes out as much as you can. This is truly the heart of beautiful rural France and every view, from the high vantage point of the chapel to the lake are breathtaking. Thanks so much

I spent three weeks with Jenny and her extended animal family. All x8 cats , x3 shetland ponies and her goat had distinctive individal characters. Jenny is an extremelywell travelled, informative and friendly lady who went out of her way to take me to places of interest in her beautiful part of Normandy. At times I found it hard to keep up with Jenny's enthusiasm as there were many projects on the go so you couldn't become bored. I felt privaledged to contribute to an already beautiful and expansive garden - some ideas will be going back to Australia with me. Jenny is a wonderful cook. I am sure if I had stayed 2 months, every meal would have still been different. Jenny, When you get your other knee fixed you'll be cantering on Jack in no time at all. Thanks for the wonderful experience - perhaps I may see you in my part of Australia one day.

From the moment I arrived I felt that I was part of the " family". The staff are great people. I learned Thai while helping to prepare meals, eating and working with the staff. I was very impressed with Bronwen's devotion to her vision of running a sustainable operation; inviting people to enjoy a natural setting while having a minimal impact. She has created incredible food forests and is helping to conserve the biodiversity of the area. I learned about the effectiveness of EM in restoring soil fertility along with the use of traditional Thai farming equipment. The nearby beach is great with very warm water and virtually no other Farangs. To top it off, Sula makes some of the most delicious Thai food I have ever had.

Where to start? :) At the moment I am still here with Anne. I have been here 1 month and one more left to go. So far I had awesome time here and if I could I would stay longer 100%! Anne is great and easy going and we have lots to talk about. And I feel really comfortable with her since the first day I came here. About duties - in general it is help in the garden, cleaning and tidying guests' rooms and main house, sometimes cooking. Nothing impossible! If you like those things, that this is place for you. And schedule is very flexible. With Anne you can talk out everything. After 1 month here, I feel this place like my home also and I am trying to do everything I would do if this would be my place. And the best is - I really enjoying it! After working indoors 12hrs staring into computer, this is the best place to come and relax. This village where we are living is small, but so, so beautiful. Surrounded by mountains and hundreds of hiking routes (some great walks right from Anne's home). If you want parties, this is not the place, but Granada is just 3hrs away from here... Eh, I will miss this place! :)

I stayed for a little over two months and, having traveled all over the world, can easily say that this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Franco, Martina, and Pippo are incredibly kind and generous (more like extended family by the end) and the food is unreal- plan on gaining at least 10 pounds while here. I've only been gone for three weeks and I already miss it; there will definitely be many return visits.

This place is the geometry of magic! It’s as close to a sustainable paradise as I’ve come across on my travels. Not it in a superficial sense (not that this place isn’t visually stunning) but in a deep sense—the paradise realized here is an internal one—right under your nose. This place has helped me find a source of cultivation in my life. It is a wonderful place to be creative; the mere act of living becomes an art here. At the center and the surrounding towns of Pettenasco and Orta you will feel in tune with both the past and the future alike; your body and your mind connecting—the greater harmonies of life. It’s staggering the opportunity you will have by being able to work and live here; it’s really more of an education than a job. If fact, it’s such a good stage for nurturing realization and manifesting destiny that some people can’t handle it, they create drama and distract themselves with it—that is the only negative I found. And it’s not unfavorable at all when compared with the truly atrocious things happening in the world. Here at you will be in a constant state of becoming, at least this was my experience and it’s helped me make sense of the chaos and phantasmagoria of the world and my life. There is no hierarchy here, just a community of individuals who appreciate each other. When you work no one will give you orders, this breeds respect. When you eat, you eat only that that comes from nature, and that breeds joy.

Thank you so much to Padam, Pramila and Ama for our stay with you. We first spent a couple of days in Kathmandu where Pramila kindly picked us up from the airport, took us to a hotel, fed us and showed us around, she was so helpful and it was a great way to ease in to travelling in Nepal. On the farm in Chitwan we felt more like guests than workawayers. Ama cooked us plentiful dal bhat every day and Padam took us for an amazing jungle walk and an elephant ride in the national park, and the animals we saw were unforgettable. It was also great to meet the rest of their family and community, learn some Nepali and get to know the buffalos who gave us milk every day. It was a really authentic Nepali experience. Then Padam even took us trekking in Annapurna, which was an incredible, breathtaking experience. Thanks once again for everything.

I don't have words to describe how Dorothea and Til treated me since the first moment that they saw me in the train station till the last hug saying goodbye ! They show me around the mountains, different towns, places to go to ski, typical switzerland costumes, their friends ... making me feel like one member more in their family. And working there, you are not going to be tired, it's not a hard work 5 days a week on the morning, then at 12 Til prepared lunch and we had lunch together , they really love pasta and pizza ;) The guests normally are very friendly, I didn't speak german they tried to talk with me in english . The bedroom how you can see is amazing, you have everything you need in a really warm room. But you have to keep yourself busy; studying, going by bike, watching movies etc I was in the middle of the mountains, they don't have the facilities like a big city. But this is one of the things that do this experience more special. I wish all the best to Doro and Til and forward to see them again Thanks a lot for everything and hope see you again

Excellent company and will help you willingly with your Italian. Deborah is a great host and very willing to help you with your Italian and makes it clear what is needed to do. Picnics in the mountains and trips to the beach, memorable nights in Lucca with a glass of wine and coffee in the day time. I spent one month with Sarah and Nigel, it was simply amazing! The place and the landscapes are stunning, the English countryside around there is lovely. The house is very cozy, but the most important thing is that Sarah and Nigel are great! I immediately felt comfortable and part of the family. They are very friendly, warm, laid back and flexible. I could decide when to get up and organize the work, which was always varied and entertaining. Part of the work was with horses: Willow and India are the sweetest and most entertaining horses I have ever met. Sarah loves her animals and trains them with passion using natural horsemanship methods without any force and coercion. We played a lot with them and I learned many useful things. Every week I went with Sarah and Nigel for their folk music sessions in local pubs, and we also had some nice sunday picnic and walks on the amazing Dartmoor. Sarah and Nigel are very fond of music, art and cinema and it was enjoyable to have some good chat about these topics and watch some movies together. Also cook for them was a pleasure, I prepared Italian dishes and Sarah made me taste the delicious traditional English food! I had the opportunity to meet new people, such as Kara, and we had lot of fun going out and riding together!! In conclusion, it was a wonderful experience! Thanks Sarah and Nigel, I miss you all very much!

This was the most amazing unforgetable experience i have ever had. i never thought i could ever be in such a place working with passionate people and most of all such beautiful dogs. walk out to go to the toilet only to have your path lit by the northern lights. Moments like these seriously take your breath away. If your willing to work hard both mentally and physically this is so worth every minute. Having said that you have to adore dogs... and i mean adore... you must want to look after these dogs, teach them, let them teach you. riding the sledges... there is nothing more peaceful (apart from maybe staring at the northern lights) then being out in the lapland wilderness... with nothing but you, your team, nature and maybe a reindeer or 2. The dogs, well what can i say.. they are incredible. Each individual dog has their own personality and if ur there long enough you can pick these up. When harnessing dogs to sledges you knw each dogs strength and where they would most likely be place to get the best out of them. i havent met anyone more passionate about what they do. Especially sebastien. Those dogs are his family, his life. And the dogs are treated incredibly well. And mushing being sebastien passion you will learn alot about mushing and racing. i will definately be returning some day as after 5mths and spending all your days with the dogs and becoming so attached... you cant sort of leave without leaving a piece of you behind aswell..... xx :)

spending more than 3 weeks with vilmo, was probably the best time in europe. vilmo welcomes you to his life, but leave alot of place for privacy, to you and to himself. I learned a lot about the history of the place, through vilmo's stories, and through the tours we had during the time there. the work is different from time to time. i was there during olive picking so there were more volunteers, but usually its not obvious to have more partners there. but even though, its a wonderfull place - one of the prettiest - and people!

We would like to award 8 out of 4 smilies for Jo and her place which makes a double excellent. We stayed with a group of workawayers in her place, and she made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Jo is a considerate, very sociable host with a good sense of humor and interesting ideas. Work was well organized, structured and versatile. The place is magic, set within a stunningly beautiful landscape. All of the animals are lovely. There'd be much more to say. All in all - we'll be back soon.

David and I volunteered with the lovely Sarang family back at the start of 2011 and we had an absolutely fantastic experience, they are all such caring and interesting people. We had a wonderfully varied experience, though most of our time was spent eating Vijaya's delicious food. Anywhere which can make a proper Londoner like David to herd a cow (though I think the cow probably was herding him) is worth volunteering with.

We spent two weeks with Sylvie's family. I hope those times remains memorable about the hungarian gulasch. We ate very very good meals , cooked together. After a little work in the garden (making little fences, weeding, harvesting, seeding) we could swim in the pool or went to Mt. Ventoux, Avignon, Uzés, Pont du Gard...The region is beautiful. We have to mention that the Tomato sauce is wonderfully top class and the spanish jambon was also very nice. It is a need to feel those taste. one more thing : the salmonpie..delicious! :)

We had an amazing time staying here for 3 weeks. The hosts are incredibly warm and lovely people and welcome you into their family. We spent part of our time helping around the farm, pruning olive trees and weeding the vegie garden, as well as learning to cook some fantastic Italian meals, helping around the house and building a cubby house, and part of the time helping at the guest accommodation in the restaurant kitchen and preparing rooms for guests. The countryside is absolutely beautiful, with the rolling green hills dotted with villages and farmhouses, just like you dream the Italian countryside will be. There was a town within walking distance where you can do some grocery shopping if you want, not that you will need to because abundant and delicious simple home-cooked Italian food is provided. The host also took us into Assisi so we got to look around this incredible medieval town. Rosaria, Daniel, Emanuel, Francesco (and Adriano, Elena and Amarita!) thank you all so much for making our stay so memorable, we're missing you already. Clare and Gareth

I worked for Philippe and stayed with the family for nearly three weeks. They are all really nice and we could exchange a lot about the life in France and Czech Republic. Although the work was sometimes hard, we ate very well and I got to know a lot about French culture. For me it was a great experience. Too bad, I couldn't stay longer.

I can't say enough good things about my stay at this Cottage so I'm just gonna keep it simple and say only that I LOVED IT.. Loved it so much in fact that what was meant to be only a 2 to 3 week stay turned very easily into 10 months :o)) Easy going, friendly and creative, that be this family through and through and with a welcome I know for sure will be hard to beat. I've left now for some new flavours but I've come away knowing that I've made some good friends and I'm already looking forward to seeing them again :o)))

I enjoyer our conversations and all of the efforts they made to show me their culture. I feel like I needed more time with them. They took exceptional care of me and made GREAT meals.... Including kangaroo steak and pavlova. These are my kind of people and I love the way they think and are open-minded. I really hope I see then again someday. Thank you for hosting me!!!! Anna and thie whole place very nice. Situated about 30 minutes from Sora by foot, it is a quiet place to relax. Guests stay in restored farmhouse rooms and have access to a common area with a kitchen and big fireplace. I truly enjoyed my stay and experience at her rustic B&B and helping with the ongoing construction/restoration project. The work is rewarding because you can immediately see the results. I helped plaster walls and worked with their local builder doing some more extensive renovations. Anna is kind, passionate about her project and a real a scholar. She helped me with my Italian! I hope to keep in touch in the future. Thank you again. Charlie.

I stayedhere for 3 winter months. Very quiet place it is in the winter. Remote location, a lot of land to explore and very simple rural life. I grounded myself and thought through so many things I cannot even express. 99% of work was outside with 90% of clear sky and sun. I heard that summer camp gives this place a new life, as it was very quiet during my stay. Although saying that, me and Greg did quite a lot of noise usually... I loved every minute of those 3 months. Antonio and Branca are great hosts. Aways caring and curious about your story. Had great time with some of the staff. Pietja and Kazimira have always a smile for you. A hug as well if you need one ;) Probably if you go there you will meet Mark and Marcelo as I think they love this place so much they will never leave ;) Big hug for you boys!

Jo and Scott were excellent hosts and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped into their beautiful home. We spent two weeks with them and enjoyed our time there immensely. We were a little nervous to begin, given that this was our first time staying with a host family, but were quickly put at ease once we started talking and joking around the dinner table; Jo and Scott are both very easy to get along with and provide great company and conversation and more than a laugh or two. They were more than willing to help us in getting to know the area and helping us get from A to B. We have two new best friends in their two kids and so long as you like LEGO and pick-up games of tag you're certain to have two new chums. Accommodations were very comfortable - cooking is guaranteed to please! Overall we had a wonderful time during our stay with Jo, Scott, Jack and Matthew and hope to visit again soon!

I did a bit of weeding too, which I enjoyed. Jane and Marek have lovely friends too, who we were introduced to, Dickie, Simon, Andy, Martin, Rob, and also not to forget to mention Charlotte from Pau. I will never forget it and I deeply appreciate Leslie and David for letting me work there this past January. It even helped me realize that I want to go to veterinary school. I got to deliver baby goats! There's not too much in the world more amazing than that. Anyways, this was my first experience using Workaway and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. As a first-time Workawayer, I can’t imagine a better introduction to organic farming! Working with Rosa and Massimo , was an wonderful experience; I learned so much from Rosa, who is a verifiable expert on natural products and cures, and tasted some of the best wine I’ve had in Italy from Massimo’s home cellar. They, and their son Andrea, are a truly beautiful family; very welcoming, kind, and hospitable. We spent the days working outside—overlooking beautiful mountains—and collecting hazelnuts, walnuts, figs, and grapes. On Sundays, Rosa showed us where she sells her goods at markets in Naples and introduced us to the local produce and recipes. We even learned how to make homemade tomato sauce and pizza from scratch! Everyday was an adventure where we learned something new, while getting a taste of true Italian culture. I would recommend this experience 100%. Thank you Rosa and Massimo, I will always remember my time

This by far was the best experience we could have ever asked for. We spent nearly two weeks with Roger, Sandy & Baby Dog and loved every minute of it. They are located in a very wonderful part of France with rolling hills of sunflower seeds and maze all around them. They own a beautiful house...which you will instantly fall in love with. We were welcomed from the start as they go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. We helped out with the gardens, housework, laundry, and did some painting....but none of it feels like work because you are with such great people. The food is incredible and if you are lucky, Roger will make his "Crispy Duck" for dinner. What made this house so wonderful...is the love that you feel and see between Roger and Sandy...truly a happy couple who just need some help making their home complete. We met many of their friends, neighbors and the village residents...and everyone was so welcoming. They also accompanied one of us to visit Tours for a day and nearby village which has an incredible Abbey at it. I could simply go on forever...raving about how much we love them. We are anxious to visit again and have them visit us here in the States. Love to you both!!

We've volunteered one week in the school and we liked it very much. Sonu which is running the school and her husband Raju are very nice, interesting, open-minded and friendly people who care a lot about their community. They organise daily lessons for children from poor families and they try to improve the status of woman in their community. Sonu and Raju live with their seven year old son five minutes away from the school. The school itself is situated in the house belonging to Rajus father, who is also living there. Additionally there are two very nice siblings (15 and 16 years old from Himachal Pradesh) living in the school who took great care of us. We assisted during the lessons from 9 to 11 am and from 3 to 5 pm. The rest of the day we were free. The children are lovely and keen to learn. Since the variety of children (age 2 to 15; knowledge; schools they attend) is huge the lessons are individual and each child is doing something else. So the atmosphere during class is very nice and vibrant. We didn't have to pay anything to stay there, we just paid for lunch and dinner (5$ per Person/ per day), but you are also free to eat out. Thank you for your hospitability and the nice time we had in Delhi. All the best for your ambitious projects! Ania and Dominik

We had a perfect time at the Ryan family! They live in gorgeous nature in a big and new house where we had our own beautiful room. Furthermore it was great that they had space for all of us. The animals were so lovely and the horses so quiet that Jasi had the chance to learn riding with Barbaras help. We had wonderful rides around their place. We really felt like a part of the family, they were always keen to show us around. We were also very integrated into their neighbor hood and met lots of friendly people there. The Ryans are very uncomplicated and trusted us to look after their place while they were away for 2 weeks. We are very thankful for that! Barbara organised a stay on a property for us, which was a great experience and Dave gave us helpful advice for our journey. Ellyn and Megan are very open and friendly and we were surprised how independent they are for their age! At the end it was very hard to leave (we tried more than one time...) Work away at the Luft house hold is a real treat! We arrived in the Lufts small country town in northern Germany with little idea of what we were going to be doing. Marcel and Ute have achieved an incredible amount since they moved to the farm 5 years ago, making themselves nearly fully self sustainable. The accomodation was brilliant, the animals were great to work with and you had plenty of people coming and going everyday asking for anything from fresh eggs to flour to a nice pint of Utes freshly brewed beer. You are lucky enough to become apart of the Luft family and go along to neighbours dinner parties or get togethers. You do work hard but is all very rewarding at the end of the day, esspecially when you get to taste Marcels yummy lunchs. We recommend the Lufts to anyone that is looking for a different experience that will open your eyes up to a different way of life and get to hang out with a fantastic German family.

When I left New York City, I felt near total madness, navigating my urban reality and trying to figure out a way to work towards a worthwhile endeavor and escape some of the vices and unhealthy behaviors permeating the American Way of Life. I was fortunate enough to find my way to the Himalayan Farm in India. The experience I have had here has been amazing, shocking my sensibilities with positive energy. I have always wanted to learn about farming and permaculture, especially in light of the prolific information about the deleterious effects of fast food and industrial agribusiness. The guru of the farm, Hari Pant, is an extremely kind and informative teacher. As we labored to till the land and plant new crops, he was quick to illuminate the best agricultural methods and the reasons for those methods. However, he is very humble. Any idea you have to offer he patiently considers, and the group on the farm ruminates over new agronomic possibilities together on a daily basis, usually in front of a campfire. In fact, new ways to improve the project spring forth faster than we are able to undertake them. And the farm is still in a fledgling stage of development, and needs as much help and support as possible. By the end of the Indian Monsoon season, we all hope that the infrastructure of the farm will be solid enough to begin bringing children from the nearby schools in Bhimtal and Nanital up to learn about organic farming. But in order to initiate those field trips, the project needs to finish the new kitchen construction project. Any carpenters or masons who could help build the brick and mud stove would be wholeheartedly welcome and needed. I had an opportunity to learn much from the project. I'm sad that I have to leave, as there is a great wealth of knowledge available at the farm. Interacting with the locals, one is able to start picking up the Hindi language, which Hari and his wife Kum Kum patiently help each volunteer practice. Additionally, both Hari and Kum Kum are amazing cooks, and showcase their skills openly for all the volunteers to learn from. And as well as learning about sustainable agriculture, there are many artisanal learning experiences available at the farm. For example, Hari is currently working on establishing a silkworm farm, which will mean that the volunteers will be able to cultivate silk and potentially craft silk garments. Other projects are on the table as well, such as establishing a home brewery, learning to preserve food such as jam and pickles, and developing homeopathic elixirs and salves from the flora that surrounds the homestead. Included in the ecological lessons and pursuits at the Himalayan farm is the development of alternative energy. There are plans to construct a hydraulic system in the channel near the farm, which will eventually allow the volunteers to harvest electric energy. Additionally, plans to establish solar panels and small wind turbines are discussed as the project moves forward. Discovering the ways energy can be harnessed from the natural world in a fashion that does not harm the landscape is entwined in the pursuit of cultivating healthy food. And the final learning experience I will add to the list (trust me, there are many more, and the volunteers themselves bring plenty of useful skills, which they kindly share. This project is truly a node in the pathway to an improved society founded upon permaculture) is the elucidation of traditional Indian philosophies and spiritual practices. Hari has a very well stocked library that he opens to all the volunteers to learn from. Additionally, Kum Kum and Hari both have a well-informed understanding of exercises that improve health, such as Pranayama and other yoga techniques. So for all those hoping to root themselves in a platform that protects mother earth directly, please, make your way to the Himalayan Farm.

Although we didnt really experience the "eco project" side of this workaway we really did enjoy our stay with anne and jean. The cottage and surrounding area is beautiful and we were able to learn a great deal about agriculture and sustainable living. We worked on the house and land (tiling, working in the tractor, plastering etc) and found Jean to be a fantastic teacher of many skills (from tiling a bathroom to cutting a ready-for-bbq magret!) many thanks for your hospitality and all the best in the new house!

I want to say a great thankyou to John and Catherine who enabled me to spend four fabulous weeks full of fun and experiences, I don't want to miss!! There's no day as another one. From planting seedlings into beds over animal care (Maxi for example who is one of the two dogs needs always to be cuddled and hugged ;-)) through to building new buildings ( for example a geese shed).Work is never too hard and John is all the time with you so it's never getting boring or silent. And you meet a plenty of other volunteers of all over the world so you will never be alone and maybe make some new friends. Not forgetting the legendary karaoke nights with Jason at the weekends, a really crazy but also kindhearted and great entertainer who rents a room at John’s farm - this place would be a poorer one without him for sure. :-) And if you might not be a skilled cook you could be a more capable one afterwards practicing there your abilities by cooking lunch and dinner from time to time.... So if that sounds auspicious to you don not hesitate - you won't regret it, promised! :)

We stayed with Zillah and Cosmo for one week in October of 2011. Right away Zillah greeted us with open arms and made us feel very at home. She is an amazing cook and always made sure we weren't going hungry. Plenty of tea and coffee was provided through each day as well. Her converted shed is cozy, private and warm. Zillahs 4 year old son Cosmo was a fun and interesting character to have around the house. Bruton is a lovable town of 3,000 with such a long, rich history that is literally medieval. We redid Zillahs kitchen, sanding, priming, painting. She only expected what we were capable of and was in favor of our desires to experience the town on our own. She even drove us to a neighboring town for one day. She is very flexible and fun. We had an amazing experience with Zillah, Cosmo, and her friends and family. We left Bruton having developed new bonds and a feeling of a home away from home. We plan to return in the future.

I lived and worked with these lovely people for over 5 months, which should say quite a lot about what a good experience it was for me. The beautiful countryside, the farm, the animals and most of all the people I spent my days with are already greatly missed. If you approach this place with a genuine interest in what they are trying to achieve and a willingness to invest yourself then there are an endless variety of things to be learnt. I certainly gained an unexpected amount of knowledge, including the agricultural workings of a farm, the lifestyle changes of trying to live with a lower impact on the environment and the unique experience of living very closely in a community. I also learnt a great deal about myself personally, even if it did take some pushing occasionally. The family were also endlessly patient with helping me to go from no French at all to at least the ability to understand and be understood at a basic level. Thank you for allowing me into your lives for the last few months and for giving me more than I could have hoped for. I'll definitely be coming back to visit before too long.

Theresa is a wonderful, hospitable, and inspiring host. My stay here was really great, and I only wish that I had been able to provide more help with work. I definitely feel that I was treated extremely well, and if you get a chance to come here, then consider yourself lucky! Thanks for everything Theresa!

What a wonderful experience i've had with Sara and Nigel! They have been more than just hosts for me, they have been a real family and they do everything to make you feel as a member of the family. They are lovely persons, so friendly and generous, i mean you can only feel attached to them. It was a pleasure to help them in any kind of tasks and i've learnt many things. I've spent a really great time with them, with the rest of the family, Kara and other friends of them. If you like people, if you like animals, music and the countryside just go there and meet them you won't regret it believe me!

I spent about 4 weeks here as a volunteer and had an awesome experience. Andy and Simona were wonderful hosts and I felt welcome there right from the beginning and was always part of the family. It is a beautiful property and there was plenty to see and do in the surrounding area on my time off.

Konstancja and Frank have been my first hosts, and I really enjoyed spending time at their beautiful place! Their house is an open house, so there are lots of friends and neighbours coming to have a talk or just relax together. The work was not hard at all, and Konstancja and Frank even did not really ask me for doing something... I am sure I will miss the two dogs and little cat, the open minded people and the beautiful surrounding a lot. I can reallz recommend this two lovely people to be your hosts!

The family was absolutely wonderful. This was our first workaway and it has changed our view on how we will travel for the rest of our lives. Chiloe island is beautiful and being right on the water in Ancud is magical. Being able to jump head first into such a loving family was a delight, and playing/cooking/working/exploring with their daughters was very rewarding. Anyone looking for a workaway where they want to interact a lot with locals, but still have some peace and quiet to themselves, we would highly recommend contacting Britt and Sandra. Their family is very active and with that, there is always a lot of work to be done. I have a smile on my face right now thinking back to how much we enjoyed our time .

Great place to work! Elaine and her family made me feel at home. There was a good balance of work and free time. The work was mostly bartending & bussing tables. In my free time I went on hikes, exploring Rhonda, caves, went to a local music festival. A positive experience overall, met some great people there. AWESOME!
